The whole education system is a load of bullshit! Paying 40k+ for a degree that’s most likely worth 10k max. Universities only care about ££££ and paint a picture of roses a pretty yellow sun in the sky saying you’ll be offered your dream job once you graduate.

Many people lose thousands of dollars without having heard Anton, if they had the opportunity to listen to Anton before, perhaps now would be millionaires. I am one of them and I'm not ashamed to say it. Even without having made any Anton program, I could understand it to be able to say that he is absolutely right. After losing 100,000 in the market, and become bankrupt, I can now understand each letter of his mouth. Thanks anyway Anton. Continue with your good work.

This is such a true video, and to add on the depressive side... Robots have now taken the job of the ''support'' teams in many area... like research.. often the trader is left to his own research (especially in small - mid firms where they wont train you cause they expect you to know)... Starting small-mid firm was they advise i gave to all my lawyer clients who wanted to make big bucks... why? Cause you learn the business-running, the multitasking, the strategies... instead of being '' I do 1 thing only'' type of person.. if you want to be manager, you need to know all the sides.. big firm will silo you... so many times I've heard ''how come the new manager is coming from outside, he only got 4 years experience the low level position compared to my 10 years in same role, and he did other stuff!'' ... the other stuff are why he got hired.

I actually think that whilst The Technology Function is a cost centre, it's a very necessary support function for banking today. Yes of course the traders make the lions share of the money however the technology function is also an enabler for that to happen, given that as you said the technology is making people obsolete, it's got to be a symbiotic relationship between both to make a success of things on a larger scale given the overall shrinking of the amount of money that can be made.

I only entered the industry about 5 years ago (2018) so can't speak for any time before. By then, Quants had moved into the front office and aren't seen so much as a cost centre anymore. I'm one of them and of course I have to cover the full end to end process: research the data, develop strategy & implement it in code + monitor etc. When I do that, I'm taking an equivalent position to a trader although formally I'm not a trader.

The part where you said, they have "machines built to predict what the other machines are doing" just hit the nail over the head. The recent hype over electronic trading in the news and so forth and the introduction of Michael Lewis's new book on how HFTs are front running the markets, attests to what you just said.

Should you be interested in the markets, get a financial education, learn how to invest your own money, the different invesment vehicules that exist but never work for an IB, hedge funds, etc. Stay away from financial markets, or you will get stressed for no reason. The financial market is cruel. I once heard a guy from the trading desk say "who brings in money gets money" - meaning that if you are not a trader....(figure it out)

One of the biggest problems with Western Society is that almost EVERYBODY lies to their neighbor about any & every thing possible. Anton Kreil should be an inspiration to "realists or people in general" everywhere. Because It is one of the most gross injustices to know the potential consequences of your friends & relatives decisions or actions, yet NOT tell them or proactively do anything to warn them of their impending misfortune. This is why I have always told people the truth about their flaws or mistakes. And I have always confronted my own flaws as a means of improvement.

anarki777 then you have to pay back the loan. so you pay for it. Also having capital to trade is essential. there is a minimum for doing it properly. We are being responsible by telling you this, so you don't keep starting and stopping due to a gambling mentality and always losing money and never making progress. Now if you don't have the capital to start then who's fault is that? is it ours? also ask yourself this. If you cant make money outside the financial markets, what makes you think you can make it in the financial markets? i.e. a place where animals are literally queuing up to take your money. they will rip you apart. So you assume that $25,000 is rich. Anyone can make $25,000 doing anything then starting to trade with some capital. If you cant make it outside the financial markets, again...whats makes you think you can make it the financial markets...???
@anarki777
@anarki777 10 жыл бұрын
InstituteofTrading Indeed, I do pay for my university fees directly through student loans. However, the point was that not all people who go to expensive and prestigious universities are from well-off families or have large sums of cash at their disposal. My comment was not disparaging the authors efforts to communicate the truth about trading, nor was it blaming anyone for mine or anyone else's financial situation. I was simply pointing out that you require a large sum of money to even begin. I think it is naive of you to suggest that someone from a lower class background could realistically expect to generate £25k in a reasonable time frame. Of course, you can retort by saying you could start a business etc. However, if I am able to generate £25k in savings so easily by starting up my own business whilst still being able to live and pay rent, why should I even bother to start trading and working for someone else? I am not trying to generate sympathy - life is unfair in a multitude of ways and I accept that. I simply felt the need to defend my comment against your criticism which was first aired out of frustration.

I think the idea is that for a Trader to make into that elite bracket, you have to spend (In the US at least) 4 years on a top tier (Ivey League level) education, and at least 1, if not 2 forms of graduate level degrees, often times including an MBA from a top tier school. That could end up costing, roughly half a million dollars on the low end, assuming you paid straight up and didn't use loans. There's also an opportunity cost because you can end up spending 6-8 years before you even get an associate/internship level job, so you could've been working that whole time and making money, but instead you're going to school that whole time. So there are plenty of in demand fields including Engineering, Computer Science, Medicine that requires the same if not half the amount of time/money spent on education in order to reach a well paying job in a growing industry.

Hold on... put your money at hedge funds is investing, it is not trading... If you trade you own money taking long/short positions at markets, then yes, you'll be a trader, an amateur or a professional, but as a student, you are still paying the school, and after graduation, you will continue paying the school, so, this works only for students with rich parents, not average ones. So what advise is good for average students? may be, learn to invest in low and high risk diversified portfolios, then with the time and with enough money to risk you will be able to learn and be a trader.

Anton is dead right in this video that even if you earn quite a lot in London you still live a basic existence. Even now by the way $300K is GBP240K. You would end up with less than GBP100K in disposable income per year, due to Bonus referral and tax rates. So lets say GBP8K per month. If half of that goes on a mortgage you're looking at around a GBP700K-900K property depending on terms of Mortgage (Rate and length) - This is what you get in West London (Fulham) for 700K-900K www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/find.html?locationIdentifier=REGION%5E87507&maxPrice=900000&minPrice=700000&includeSSTC=false - and it would tkae you 25-30 years to pay off the Mortgage - (25 years X 12 Months) X 4,000 = GBP1,200,000 (what YOU end up paying for the property. Living in a 1-3 Bed flat in West London for 25 years is not cool or punk rock. Its a basic existence. Especially if your top line earnings are $300K per year. You should do more work on these things and find out what the real situation is before you state a life plan when earning $300K Gross in London.

InstituteofTrading When you grow up poor, you know how to live with little. So. I, I wouldn't live beyond my means. I'd sacrifice a fancy London loft and get my ass up and make the commute! But you don't feel me though. LOL

InstituteofTrading Furthermore, I'd use my knowledge and money to make me more money on top of my bank salary. Anyone with half a brain and access to capital doesn't just have one income stream. Most people rely on one job because they either don't know any better or are fine with being a worker bee, or they're just too scared to invest money. I'm not. I'm going to take my hard earned money and make it work for me.

InstituteofTrading Well those without a plan, plan to fail. I have a nice plan! Dentistry, trading at the level you're on if not better, investing in apartments and buying franchises. I don't see too many holes in that plan!! Especially if I minor in business finance during undergrad so I'm not one of the many people who open a trade account and just lose money due to not having a clue about what they're doing. As you all promote, the stock game can be figured out! So if you make the right sacrifices like not buying fancy shit as soon as you make a come up, you can achieve this lifestyle that you promote. Education is the key!

No he means million. I don't think a bank would give a trader just 250,000 to invest and expect him to make much money.

That's not pay. That's the limit on how much of the bank's money they can trade/invest.
