I use to only watch vids with 5 mins or less control but since the speed run series I've really grown to like and appreciate 10 min games the thought process and ability to explain everything is really great 👍👍

36:20 Can white not just take the knight though? The bishop can block the rooks attack on the queen and you're down a knight. Am I missing something?

36:04 I'm pretty sure that there was a4 for black with is even better than before because the knight on b4 physically blocks b4 and black is collapsing due to the axb3 threat

A cow that turns into a hippo should surely be a manatee. Secondly you can pronounce "van't kruijs" as "funt crase" (like "ace" in cards). It means "From the cross" in Dutch.

@@sagov9 come on. It's much closer than "vant crooges" which is what he said. There isn't an English word that I could think of that has an "ui" sound like in Dutch.

A 1700 who plays a very bad opening and then somehow not only defends but suddenly finds a way to win the queen is definitely sussy, even if Eric doesn't think so.

I dunno, I’m higher rated than that, but not by that much and I saw that tactic as soon as Nd7 was on the board (which was in itself a natural move, forking the pawn and the rook).

@@lequinow That alone wouldn't be so suspicious, but the way he defended against an IM from a very cramped position makes me very much doubt he's actually 1700, if not outright cheating. These kinda comebacks against much higher rated opponents are just very improbable. With that being said, I played a 94% accuracy game in blitz against a 1700 in Untitled Tuesday this week as a sub 1300 myself, so strange things do happen from time to time.

I strongly disagree, the guy played horrible chess, he played a sorta of hyppo pawn strucutre and shuffed the pieces on the back rank getting worse and worse each move, imo literally under 1300 level, but his knigths accidentally run into the only possible tactic in the position (a pretty simple tactic btw). The resulting endgame was normal, the guy even played badly immediately giving the exchange back, and then defending his only weakness, activated his bad king, and got completely lost. He kept fighting because it was tricky to win for Eric and his moves were obvious, just push the pawn with the king. Eric is rigth on seeing nothing sus in this game, 0%.
