If you haven't figured it out, right click on the fader of the output and click Edit Volume Automation. It'll show with the rest of your tracks

Great video, thank you. I have a question, I use SSD 5 drums. In your opinion is it better to separate the instruments in studio one to control them there, or to have the drums on one track in studio one and use the mixer in SSD 5 to set levels, etc.?
@studioonetutorials
@studioonetutorials Жыл бұрын
This is clearly a matter of taste. I personally would route the separate channels into Studio One's mixer because I'm used to it and I can use all effects, the new panning controls in V6 and I don't need to open the plug-in to mix my drums.

Thanks for this video buddy. I hate this feature in Studio One with a passion. It's ruins my workflow with Impact XT. Is there a way to disable this by default that you know of rather than disabling and rerouting each individual pad? Thanks again.
@studioonetutorials
@studioonetutorials Жыл бұрын
Haha, I like it actually :D What exactly would you like to disable? Always get the Impact XT output as a stereo track? That's not really a feature but depends on how the Impact XT preset is made (since the whole pad / output routing is stored in the preset). So you could of course resave your presets with just one stereo output. Or another pretty neat workaround is to add a new Multi Instrument and drag Impact XT into the Multi Instrument. That gives you a single stereo output for the Impact XT master (the Multi Instrument channel) but you can expand the single outputs inside the Multi Instrument to get access to the single channels (for individual leveling, effects etc.).

Thanks a lot , Although I know what's in this video, But , I never figured out what is the musical or voice over use from dublicating many tracks How to use this feature, why they make it available
@studioonetutorials
@studioonetutorials Жыл бұрын
You mean why route multiple tracks to one instrument? There are many use cases for that, like having different takes / versions of a performance. Or multitimbral instruments (seperate sounds on different MIDI channels).

What I am missing is a way to send one midi track to multiple instruments. And own midi effects at all (like e.g. in Reaper).

I sort of understand why they have it set up this way, but I find it very confusing that the first set of instrument outs matches the color of the instrument channel assigned to it, but the subsequent channels are gray by default. Being able to collapse and expand these instrument buses would also make a lot of sense
@studioonetutorials
@studioonetutorials Жыл бұрын
I like the idea of collapsing/expanding the subsequent multi outs. Will discuss this with product management.

@studioonetutorials Жыл бұрын
@@proudpastafarian26 Now when I'm thinking about, you can already do that by moving Impact XT into a Multi Instrument. That gives you a single stereo output for the Impact XT master (the Multi Instrument channel) but you can expand the single outputs inside the Multi Instrument to get access to the single channels (for individual leveling, effects etc.). I should make a video on this, I guess.

@@studioonetutorials Hmm this is true. The only problem I have with this method is that you have to open the multi-instrument and then the VST within it, which does slow down my workflow a bit

It would be nice if you could send from ONE instrument track to different VSTis. Now just one is possible. In my opinion this way is even more useful, than using different instrument tracks for one VSTi.
@studioonetutorials
@studioonetutorials Жыл бұрын
Well, it's two entirely different things. You need sending MIDI from different instrument tracks for multitimbral instruments. One instrument tracks -> different instruments can be done with Multi Instruments. The only downside is that this instrument isn't in global scope then.

Not sure if this is relevant, but... To my knowledge, with Studio One you cannot use mono multi-out sends, only stereo. So, a drum VST of your choice, set to multiple outputs in the mixer have to be stereo. I have seen workarounds where guys will use busses for each mutli out channel to convert the stereo out to mono. Has this changed in S1 6 Pro? I guess the point being that, if you want to mix multi out VST drums like you would mix audio tracks of a real kit, the multi outs should be in mono. A real kick is recorded in mono, for example. As is the snare, etc.

That's not true, Studio One can deal with multi outs in mono or stereo or any combination. It's up to the instrument plug-in to decide for each output if it's stereo or mono. I just tested it with Addictive Drums and Studio One 5 and it works without issues, Master output is stereo, Tom out is mono, Overhead out is stereo.
@gregnott7157
@gregnott7157 Жыл бұрын
@@studioonetutorials I think I see the problem now. Not all drum VSTs are created equal. I have SD2 and also SSD 5.5. SD2 does not provide an option to choose between mono vs stereo for each multi out whereas SSD 5.5 does. I have also tried Battery 4, Ugritone Drums and Groove Agent SE. They all look a bit different but it seems like some can output in mono and some not. So, if one is using one of the VSTs that won't, the video link I posted is a pretty decent workaround. This all has to do with exporting stems to audio and wanting them in mono as they should be
