Hello everyone! Here it is. Full feature length Lubadh video. For anyone in quarantine or self-isolation, this will hopefully serve as some distraction for a couple of hours. I maybe ran a bit long on certain examples, but I tried to keep it all musically relevant and example driven. The written manual will be following soon. Day to day Instruo operations are mostly as normal, but there have been hold ups in supply chain. So anyone waiting, I really appreciate your patience. More Lubadh, Arbhar and of course øchd are all in the pipeline.Stay safe, and please enjoy :) Cheers! Jason

Oh, the guitar is a nice treat. That's pretty exciting actually, I've always been obsessed with guitar delay pedals. Nice to see your approach to mixing them. Would love to see the approach with two pedals if you ever feel like making a video of it. Ohh, I rewatched and realized the second pedal would have been going into erase and not the right, so all a single recorder approach. I'll have to imagine a two deck approach. But the single deck sounds great.

At 7:16 it looks like you use the Start knob to change the clock pulse position - but wouldn’t this also change the start point? Would you mind explaining what’s happening here? Cheers!
@JoshuaKennedy3213 жыл бұрын
This confused me too but what I think is happening is this: The start point DID change but the duration was still set to full so we were hearing the entire loop ... to make a visual analogy, a circle will still be a circle no matter where you start drawing it. When he changed the length so only part of the loop was playing, then moving the start point made an audible difference.

Does the speed CV in respond to v/o or is it not feasible to consistently hit a multiple/division of the speed via CV?
@instruo2 жыл бұрын
This is a feature that is coming in the V2 firmware which is on the horizon :) It's a surprisingly tricky detail to implement as the speed goes through-zero. Operating ranges had to be defined as linear to exponential mapping would never reach the bottom even with infinite negative voltage! I believe we've found a very nice solution though!

Is it possible to precisely change the speed to intervals other than octaves? You say the speed cv is added to the knob value: can that be used to transpose the speed (and therefore the pitch) by rational amounts like 1.5x speed or 1.25x speed?
@sethsmith69104 жыл бұрын
yes I control the cv via cc and I think theres 4 steps in "velocity" in between original and half time or double time. Each step in between being pitched and sped up/slowed down by rational amounts as you put it.

The interval jumps are a 1V offset I'm switching off and on. This is patched to the 1V/octave in of the Cš-L. I am using a prototype module called the Tàin. The bloop sound is so extremely boring I’ve tried watching this video like 10 times and could ever get half way though I do love the lubadh though
@danielmcanulty15623 жыл бұрын
Something I've fallen into myself, as an engineer you think, 'let me show the audience a very simple sound so that it doesn't distract from what the device itself is doing and the concept will be clear', but inevitably someone says 'hey, that sound sucks!'. But in the modular world, these are small companies, they don't have whole marketing arms making snazzy videos where you can't tell how many hours of work it would take to actually get something that good sounding out of the device. I think it's partly up to us to appreciate the work that someone put in to make the device and explain it, and then do the work ourselves to make inspirational artwork and videos with it. But, like all other homosapiens clicking away on youtube, I hear where you're coming from. I've just split the video over multiple weeks of listening and coming back to it and trying different things out. When you design an instrument, you know all these nooks and crannies of it that you haven't yet had time to explore properly, and may never explore them as well as someone else does. You just know they're valuable and you want people to be aware of them.

I’m very sorry the video pained you :( Please consider that the purpose of the video was to simply demonstrate the mechanics and features of the Lubadh. I did not intend it as a musical masterpiece. It is simply an expanded resource I provide in addition to the full written manual which can be found here: www.instruomodular.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Lubadh-Manual-web.pdf In reality, this video need not be watched at all! Hard to watch and process exactly what's going on here. I fell asleep on this video like 3 times. The clickety blippety sound being used for 1.5 hrs doesn't showcase the unit's true potential enough to convince my wallet. Do another video using pianos or human voices - maybe even a breakbeat. Better even, send DivKid a unit to review. I'm saying all this because I am trying to decide between this and a Make Noise Mimeophon. What I'm really trying to say is that a lackadaisical product review can lose a sale... especially to eurorack folks that are hungry to see what every little knob, switch, and patch port can do with all types of signals. I hate leaving a tutorial having more questions than takeaways.
