Excellent video, my mother is a newly diagnosed diabetic and I sent her this video to watch so she can administer her insulin correctly. She is able to do it on her own but no one taught her how to use the pen. Thank you so much!

Thanks! I'm a nursing student and I keep seeing that small amount of insulin after administering the dose. I'll try holding it for 10 sec. and releasing my pinch before pulling the pen away.

My daughter is type 1 diabetic and i give ger insulin via a pen i was never taught to wipe the site where the needle is going with alcohol. Is this necessary?

In the hospital setting we have to take all the necessary precautions to prevent infection (and hospitals are filled with bugs). In the community, it is often not done.

YES because you have remove a sterile cap from the pen after you have giving the shot thecover got dirt so the next time you use the pen you remove the dirt & germs from the store pen.

If you are inserting air, it may be over pressurized. Withdraw some air and see what hapens

Insert needle attached to an empty syringe, and ensure needle tip is visibly out of the fluid, and pull on syringe plunger to withdraw air
