I play insurgency 14 everyday with people from around the world. It was crafted to be a banger and time is nothing but an illusion. It’s def worth playing. Simple, closest to realism in it’s category of games, straight shooter. It all depends on your actions and clarity because anything will kill you.

Such a shame this game didn't reach the level of popularity of something like Counter Strike. I believe it's one of the best fps games ever made and I play it almost every day. There are still a good amount of players and servers online. Co-op in the game is truly a blast.

Happy New Year to you! And IMHO, this is the best modern FPS game! (For WW2, Day Of Infamy is severely underrated. It's also made by the same company that made Insurgency 2014... New World Interactive. Much of what I'm about to say below about Insurgency can also apply to DOI.) This game is not a fcking grind, nor is it pay to win, or full of gambling mechanics (like lootboxes). It is a completely fair game, as every player has access to all the gear regardless of money/time spent. Unlike COD, this game is not garbage! It's not so demanding on your internet. It remains playable even if you have 200 ping on servers around the world... this is because of the slower pace of gameplay. The time to kill is short, but the average engagement takes longer (as people aren't running and gunning all the time, you have to scout for them). This means that not everything relies so heavily on having the best internet and using whatever the "meta" is, tactics have more of a role in how you do. This is not to say ping isn't important, but this game is easier to play than games like COD would be on a subpar connection. It's also a very well optimized game that doesn't require a power PC or a lot of storage, but it still looks nice and modern. (I even managed to play it on an old 2008 MacBook, albeit with lower framerates.) Insurgency also supports Linux, has mod support, and works offline. There's single player with bots, and those bots are better than "Veteran" bots in Black Ops 2. You are also given the resources to start your own server, which you can then find in the server browser (not some rigged MTX-based "Engagement Optimized Matchmaking" system designed to exploit players like COD). And to top it off, this game costs only a quarter of the average "base version" of a brand new AAA game, all the while being a complete package (there's no DLC, Season Passes, Lootboxes, MTX, etc.)... and that's at regular price. On sale, it's even better! As for Insurgency: Sandstorm, it's a huge step back. It runs poorly, has worse mod support (no Steam Workshop), there's now DLC/MTX to buy, no Linux support, and it's also less realistic (it plays more like COD). Oh, and it costs more!

Got into this game when it was on sale last year...it's an immersive experience. I love how it get teammates to work together on servers around the world. Overall beautiful, accessible and fun game. If you're looking for a hardcore realistic shooter...this just might be the one. Get it in sale and give it a go

You’re not gonna get something better than this so you should keep playing it with a bunch of the mods out there, One guy ported all of the guns and all of the animations from sandstorm to this game The only other game that might be good down the road as ground branch

I played both for me 2014 has much faster pace of gunfight and 2014 felt more like run and gun shooter (technically you can run and gun at dumb enemies in both 2014 and sandstorm ). the only downside sandstorm has is the content(in the game modes not guns) , mod.io is worse than steam workshop and it still need some optimisation , plus you need modern mid tier machine to have the game playable which is not a downside but a norm for next gen engines.

I love Insurgency 2014 more too, but there are things that are better in sandstorm. Weapons are more realistic(some of them). Like for Kriss Vector in real life recoil punchs in you shoulder and down. Same in Sandstorm, but in Insurgency 2014 is like any other sub-machine gun. Textures are better, but I like Source look more. Like those almost black parts of map where you can hide and kill enemy with for ex. With suppresed m9. What a good feeling. That is something I never seen while playing Sandstorm. In Insurgency 2014 there are mods for frealistic FOV(field of view) and more realistic gun sounds. That makes game a lot more brutal. I think somebody said you can put weapons from Sandstorm to Insurgency 2014. If they have same recoil, then thing with Kriss Vector is a thing from past.

I have 100hours in this game and now i bought Day of infamy and i love the gun play... Btw i discoreved this game because of mod on half life called Underhell that was made just by one guy and its really interesting reminds me of fear/silent hill try check it out... and this guy is now working in team new world interactive

Mods make it a lot more fun, the mods even work in co-op (I dont play multiplayer because people in multiplayer often go by themselves, and I like to work with my team mates in a game made for that) Also this game is based on middle eastern wars/conflicts so if you're offended by that then this might not be for you

I have Sandstorm and I like it but no matter what settings i use there's always stuttering on my PC. I have an i5 4690k, gtx 970 and 16 gb ram and pretty much every game made in UE4 hates my pc, they all run like shit. So i'm thinking of getting this instead, it looks pretty much the same in terms of gameplay. I read somewhere the community is pretty bad towards beginners, is that true ?

i think i stop playing afer trying a few hours because lack of low level or new players in Asian servers. Players that stuck around are likely old players and when i dig up Insurgency after getting a new pc, i get wreck by those old players and the player counts are really low, most rooms are just a few people and bots. The servers that has more players are the servers with high pings for me. I mainly play solo with bots for a few days before uninstalling it a few yrs ago

You can play it single player with bots. BTW the bots in Insurgency 2014 are better than the "Veteran" bots in Black Ops 2. It's pretty fun actually. Additionally, it can be played offline. To play BO2's bots, you have to have internet to log in and be able start the match... even with it being a locally hosted lobby on your PC.

there is a PVE mode that can be played single player, it’s great at making you feel like a badass taking out so many peeps while tryna capture an objective. If you put the bots on max difficulty max amount per spawn, it’s also very challenging too! I normally go into the co-op PvE modes to warm up for multiplayer
