Agreed but even though I thought I was looking forward to this game with BF1 & BF5 being set in WW1 & 2 etc I played this when there was a free weekend and it is just too harsh honestly. Between the INSANELY realistic sound design and the overall intensity, gore, over the top language, etc, I disagree with Jack slighly in that PUBG is worse. I think it's a tie. Too stressful to be fun, but that's just my opinion.

Jack, if you have larger caliber weapons you can penetrate most walls, just because you cant see then doesnt mean you cant hit them ;) (I recommend going to the practice range and testing the weapons and what they can penetrate)

I love this game. The gun mechanics are the best of any game and coupling that with the short time to kill makes the gunplay so satisfying. The sound design is amazing, I like throwing smoke grenades into a room to check if it makes people inside cough! If you're thinking about getting this game, just do it

Let me outline this for you in plain English: Modern Warfare is an arcade shooter with some elements of realism (projectile instead of hitscan for one thing) Insurgency is a realistic shooter with a *handful* of acceptable arcade elements to make the experience a little more palatable. With that in mind, MW's entire game design leans hard towards arcade in terms of playstyle and game flow while Insurgency leans hard towards realism and more tactical gameplay. There are literally no transferrable skills or playstyles outside of knowing how to aim and shoot. This also applies to the map design - MW has relatively small maps compared to Insurgency, with the Ground War maps being an exception.

The performance issues played a big role. They've failed to deliver any improvements for more than a year, which turned off a lot of people with mid-level rigs. The latest patch addresses some issues, but it might be too little too late.

Insurgency is the kind of game that people who play Battlefield/COD/R6 wished they had when they tried and got addicted to Tarkov/Arma/Squad. I can say this cause after playing all these games I got too bored with the generic FPS games that hold your hand way too much and couldn’t transition well into the hardcore sims but liked to. This hits the perfect mark for hand holding. The guns and attachments are straight forward and takes a bit of experimenting to get used to and find your gun, but also get into the realism aspect of FPS with slower paced gameplay, realistic scenarios, great gun mechanics. Just hits the right spot between arcade and realistic.

I just got the game. I have never played a fps game that actually makes me sweat so much. Even when I'm standing still or campin. Or grip the controller so tightly that I feel it will break in my hands. And it makes my heart race. It's the most intense shooter I've ever played.

The original insurgency still has like a relatively active playerbase, good for low-end pcs if youre system cant handle sandstorm. Many servers also incorporate mods that resemble much of Sandstorm's mechanics like arty and CAS. Pretty robust and severly underrated game
