@trackz2cold Apparently it was considered too big. They redesigned it so it could be cut into sections and effectively be smaller during hunts.

imo the lobby from old phasmo was so much better 😭 it felt like your friends and you had gotten together a hodge-podge ghost hunting team to do investigation! The new one still has that feel but its missing the HEART u know?

It was the most dangerous ghost in the game, you could loop the others, but no rev.

yeah, in this version, rev was the only one that can outpace the player. in the newest version, any ghost with enough line of sight acceleration can outpace the player, along with 4 other ghosts naturally. The Rev was legitimately power-creep'd, and the buff it got was just to keep it remotely competitive with the rest. Rev is still the second easiest ghost to do Apocalypse Gold with.

I do think Phasmo had more of a focus on immersion than gameplay mechanics originally. Things like the mission briefings and radio and everything just kinda made you feel more like a weirdo with a fascination in ghosts tipping your toes into this dark underbelly on society, where ghost hunting is very real and dangerous. Like I always thought they'd go with more of a "John Wick's secret society of assassins" type of route, but with ghost hunters instead, but... Eh, I guess the game always was this "hobbyist ghost hunters turned pro" type of thing going on.

I followed Phasmophobia and your channel for the first year after release. I moved on and never really got into it again. I was recommended this vid and it's wild hearing you talk about everything as if it's so old when in my mind, that version is still the current one for me. Feels like talking to a time traveler 😂

You can still play it right now, you can downpatch to any older version through the Steam console. There's some tutorials on it you can find.

i think they should rework it as a ordinary big hospital instead of asylum, and let sunny meadows be the current asylum instead. And with that they can stay off from ppl's confusion ,as well as adding more variety

This is the version of phasmo that TERRIFIED me and I'd NEVER play solo. It's still scary. But I exclusively play solo now so yeah haha. I've never stuck with a game since day 1 like I have with this one. It's been an amazing journey and I can't wait to see what the future holds. ❤❤

Phasmo Devs: "It doesn't make sense for the player to be able to crouch sprint, so we're removing it." Also Phasmo devs: "We're changing the gun thermo to measure temperature at where you are standing instead of where you are aiming it."

There are a few things i wish they would bring back, like you said the ghost events not doing ANY sound unless looking at them, thats a good change i would love to see back, AND the old ghost events in a super rare like 1-10,000 chance to hear the old gurgling

10:39 I'm new to the game but this gave me the idea of a new item Floodlights, where you could set up a floodlight that provides light might brighter than the torch, similar light to the house lights, but is separate from the house breaker. So even in a blackout, you can still see areas you have lit up yourself. To balance it maybe it has a battery that lasts only so long, and can be turned on/off by you and the ghost or something. Would be cool for the devs to explore something like that

Sound sensor is kind of fun item nowadays. Especially for truck dwellers. They can set up 2 sensors and a few cameras and simply be the truck god. They see and hear everything

Rewatching this I'm remembering so many of your og games. I've loved this game since it's very start. I still recall that one old asylum game you had where you couldn't decide if it was an Oni or a shade because it was very aggressive but the evidence was pointing towards Shade, and you got it right. That episode was so hype

Asylum was the creepiest map i had ever played in the game. The creepy part was the ambient noises in the map and of course friends that would just ditch you. I had goosebumps watching you play the map. It does feel weird watching it again!

The supposed "fix" they did for the flashlight turning off when rotate items was to force it to turn on when you switch to your flashlight. I died so many times 'cause I had my flashlight OFF during a hunt, and as I was rotating items, it suddenly turned on so the ghost found me.

I’ve loved phas for a few years, but never got really deep into all of it. I’ve binged your videos recently and I’ve been able to speed run in customs and identify ghosts. Not always perfect, but it’s so fun!

I just keep hearing "it was garbage" but I personally think that it was awesome knowing that back then a single man did all of that. I fell in love with the game back at the very beginning, changes are nice but still impressive to think that it was all thanks to DK that we are here today, still enjoying the game through all its changes.

I regret never playing this version of the game as I didn't get into Phasmo until the very beginning of 2022. I distinctly remember the Cursed Possessions being brand new and the Mimic being the newest ghost when I started playing... man, how time flies. EDIT: One thing I'm very thankful for, though, is that I got to play the OG Asylum before they took it away.

This is perfect for me, I am cycling through youtubers I watch all the time and I got back to Insym now and didn't watch a lot of Phasmo on your channel for a long time, so to me, the original is not actually old, it just feels normal, I haven't played for so long. EMF and freezing temps would sometimes get bugged in this version of the game. I remember playing school for hours trying to get EMF5 and could never get it to trigger. I'd literally camp the ghost spawn and it would never give EMF. Quit out, guess the other ghost, and it was the EMF ghost.

I'm coming back to the game remembering this version and later learned things changed a "bit". But to someone who was like level 18 in the early days, even having played HS and Asylm, it actually didn't feel that much different. But seeing it here, it's now clear how much it has changed.

You were saying they will remove sprinting while crouched because it's not realistic, but they took away the updating of the thermo every second or so, which is ACTUALLY realistic to those types of thermos. I have one pretty much like the tier 2 now, and it updates constantly while holding the trigger, there is no wait time.

I started to play Phasmo when they already upgraded the equipments (not the ones with tiers and way before we have new lobby, new maps) but man, everything in this is nostalgic! I like the old phasmo better and the way it was intended. Investigate creepy locations with different ghosts with the occasional jump scare. The new seems to be more thrill seeking survival kind of game. They should bring some of the old back or set up different game modes with different focus.You don´t even need a truck guy anymore.

The paramike muffling general audio makes sense based on the item itself, your character is wearing noise cancelling headphones when using it after all. Also, the most recent challenge didn't allow thermometers so I ended up using the paramike to find the ghost, it worked moderately well, not as good as the thermometer though.

I noticed in the most recent VR version of the game that you can walk through doors if you grab the door handle and just keep walking. I think it only works when you try walking through the door in the way that the door doesn't open. Everything will be black at first but if you keep walking, everything reappears and the door is still closed. lol

I remember my first time on old asylum, the ghost room was like two rooms away from reception and we didn't figure that out until two of us died to the ghost and it was a poltergeist.
