These days, food in India is also not good. Nowadays, there r many restaurants in India but food is not of good quality nor good taste. When compared to that, I feel that food here in some of the bay area restaurants taste much better. So, we cannot say anymore that food tastes good in India. It was all a history & not at present.

Main problem is that most Indian restaurants don't listen to customer feedback, they don't deliver quality food, naturally people stop going there and then they close shop and someone new replaces them and same cycle repeats.

My biggest complaint is the restaurants does not maintain quality and taste. First few months some of the restaurants tastes very good. And the quality of the products is also good. But then after some time they start to compromise on quality. Also the taste goes down(maybe they lose the main chef).

Nice Video! My humble opinion.. Indian restaurants are run based on the taste buds of foreign communities on weekdays to survive. hence the taste is not up to its originality. Also, Most restaurants don't have any USP food items.. just selling everyone sells.. if they have speciality items of their own then they are the original restaurant of their style

I totally agree. In USA, Indian restaurants are run mostly targeting US born nationals. Sadly these US nationals are exposed to Butter Chicken, Tikka Masala and few other dishes only. Their taste buds are so sensitive that they don’t eat anything more than spice level 1 which do not match Indians. Also, Indians mostly don’t prefer eating at the restaurants due to various factors like health, cost, etc. Any Restaurant owner cannot depend only on Indian community and run the business for this reasons. Best is to try by doing home catering and get the reviews before jumping into the ocean.

Bay Area has some good restaurants. Especially in cities like Milpitas, Fremont, Dublin, Santa clara, Sunnywale has got some best Indian restaurants. My love goes to Dindigul Thalappakatti and Aapakadai

Most of them use frozen vegetables, one restaurant served channa masala with Goya chickpea (with preservatives). If they use fresh ingredients it will come best.

I agree. I went to 8350 Westheimer Rd Ste B, Houston, TX 77063 branch and they did not even give some sort of curd pachadi for parotta and only gave Channa gravy that was meant for poori. Even Sambar vada was small (2 nos) and not that good. NJ branch is much better.

Some Indian restaurants use monosodium glutamate. Just for the sake of taste / to sell more. They won’t accept if we ask them openly. This is very bad for health . My American friends have experienced this and concerns

Yes you are right I lived in Albuquerque here 5 Indian restaurants are there. I liked Namaste because they are Indian Asian naan and butter chicken and wings tandoori is ok. Rest of all waste for money 💰 I learn cooking from KZbin and cooking better of them!!😂 One more thing is very important all the restaurants are used may be vegetable oil, I am not sure about that so be careful with that. Because I am fan of Dr.Pal Manikam . When you have a time please talk about Doctor Pal Manickam Sir, he is a very good human and care and advise about gut health in funny way ❤️. You guys are doing great 👍 ❤

Well said Arti, Prem. Indian restaurants are not good. All Indian restaurants have the same menu - From appetizers , entrees, desserts all are same … how come ? Tikka masala, butter masala, channa, kadai paneer. And Briyani what they make here is horrible !! They just layer plain white rice and veggie gravy in between that is veggie dum briyani , price is $20, same recipe for chicken too. The price is too much, they have to reduce price, improve quality and should give more quality too !!. Sometimes the white rice they give is enough only for 2 year old kid, just 4 tablespoon and price is $ 5 for extra rice. Extra raita price is also $5, 1 papad is $3, come on guys the price of whole papad itself costs $1.30. I never order these sides, never !! And all gravies have the same taste. Of late they reduce the paneer pieces too when ordering paneer dishes !!.

Nice topic. I always wondered why the quality of Indian restaurants is subpar in terms of food and service. Yes, some of them have great food. But majority are border line decent. Other points to consider is also customer service, restaurant decor and hygiene. For example - Madurai Thattu Kadai in Plano, TX gives Madurai Street side restaurant vibe. Folks also want to feel they are in their home town when in an Indian restaurant. Restaurant owners need to think about that. One recommendation - I recently went to Milwaukee - Curry and Momo House is a good one - but they are Nepali and have mostly north Indian - great service and great food. BTW please share the restaurant DB/excel sheet if you have it.

House of biryani and kebab in edison i find veg dishes taste good compared to feedback from non veg eaters. I think mostly because non veg is reheated and veg they had to prepare fresh

Understand one basic thing. If you ask a Mexican, they'll tell you that none of the Mexican restaurants in the U.S. are authentic. The same goes if you ask an Italian; they'll say none of the Italian restaurants here are truly authentic. This applies to all cuisines from different countries. Ingredients matter, and where they come from is important. 99% of Indians say that chicken and mutton in the U.S. don't taste the same. I've seen many non-vegetarians stop eating meat after moving to the U.S.

I would say avoid all Indian restaurants in Niagara Falls. They don’t care about customer satisfaction and only care about money. Had terrible experience there, the worst dosa I ever tried. When we went next time, we never had in Indian restaurant and had in Dunkin or Burger King or subway, much better than Indian restaurants there.

Main reason is 75% of what they use is ready made preserved products. Naan,poori,onion samosa,parotta and what not .Nothing is made fresh like in India. They have same base masala for 90% of the curry's they add chicken,goat or paneer based on wht we want . Biryanis if this was not glorified and made us all craving for it and us being ready to order what ever the crap is in the name of biryani. 90% of the restaurant would be closed by now. Lastly too much running cost, wasteage and competition turns indian restaurant owners ready to feed us at a standard not lives upto expectations.
