I work on cars for my friends a lot, and always look for well written DIYs on forums, since most youtube videos are so bad. This is not that. You pointed out all the small details and still your video is VERY time efficient. A joy to watch. I'm very glad you decided to make this. One of the very best DIYs I've seen!

Great vid, thanks. Used this to replace a knock sensor as much easier to access from above. For anyone else who didn't want to drain coolant, the alternative is to remove the front bulkhead which was pretty straightforward, and to disconnect everything from the throttle body except the coolant lines. If you do this, you can just pull the manifold straight out and leave all the radiator hoses and coolant lines intact. Everything else in this vid still applies, just don't drain coolant, remove coolant hoses from throttle body, or remove radiator hose. Didn't see this mentioned anywhere else but pulling the bulkhead is how the Honda service manual has you do it too. Thanks again

What's the manifold torque spec? Thank!
@toxicsnail41972 ай бұрын
16lbft for the three bolts and two nuts. Can also do this by pulling the bulkhead, and not have to drain coolant

Thank you, for this tutorial video! You are very profesional and honest. It takes you less than 20 minutes to remove and replace the Intake manifold, but why are the the mechanics I consulted told me the need my car for a day or two to do it? I am so tired of being ripped off! So dufficult to gi d honest mechanics on streets or even at dealers. Is like they are in complot to rob us. :(

Thank you very much for your really nice comment , not all mechanics are bad but some of them abuse at the moment to charge customers, that was one of the reasons I started this channel. Good luck and merry Christmas.

Well... just because someone removes it in 20mins... doesn't mean that a shop is ripping you off by charging you for 5 hours... if that is what the labor guide lines says that job requires. Plus you are not considering other jobs that might be in front of you for the day... secondly, older cars very easily break plastic parts, you are not calculating that into your equation of just 20mins of work. Thirdly, you are not factoring the time it takes the engine to cool down before work could begin.

This manifold has 3 bolts and 2 nuts and the video clearly shows how to remove all of them, there is not bottom right bolt

No need to remove the rad. Bulkhead out, fans, intake,manifold
@toxicsnail41972 ай бұрын
Yeah, this is how I just did it. Didn't even have to remove the fans. Very nice to not have to deal with burping coolant system after and still straightforward
@toxicsnail41972 ай бұрын
Thanks for this comment - this is what made me look at the Honda service manual and see they recommend to remove the bulkhead too
