Intamin is a manufacturer and supplier of amusement rides, roller coasters and transportation products originally based in Wollerau, Switzerland. Today, the company is well known for its ability to continuously innovate, allowing them to meet the needs of their clientele. Naturally however, this hasn't always been the case. In this two part series we dive into the rich history of Intamin, uncovering the huge list of attractions they offer, but also understanding how and why the company was formed.

My favorite part of the coaster wars is when two park chains build huge roller coaster that rival each other, but they're both built by the same manufacterer, so as the different park chains compete, the manufacterers are just like, "Ah yes... which will win: project 1 or project" lol

I am currently in a roller coaster binge. What this means is that I cannot stop watching roller coaster videos for the life of me! I've done this a couple of times, but it's never gotten this bad. Before, I would only watch the POV videos. Now I keep watching videos about the coasters and the manufacturers. Thank you for fueling this because I'm enjoying it so much!

@@coasterbot To be honest, if it weren't for channels like yours, I probably wouldn't be becoming a rides person. I used to be horrified of coasters after my mother made me ride one or two of them that were a 'bit' too intense for me at the time. Later in my life I had a fear of them based on fear of the ride going wrong. I only recently have ever had a ride go wrong (I was on what they told us was the "first on-ride evacuation" of the Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure), and because of your safety video, I wasn't the least bit afraid--and that was after having just rocked back-and-forth under a hill after a high-up stall in the ride...! [They later told us that the reason they had to shut-down the ride was because one of their computers had died in the middle of the ride] The only part I was afraid about was that they might have done what they did earlier in the ride, which was slam on the brakes, make us wait for 15-minutes for technical issues, then have the bikes shoot-off to 50-mph with no warning whatsoever. Even then--I knew I wasn't going to be put in danger. Thanks you so much for your stuff!

Definitely a great video. Extremely informative and very interesting. I knew that Goliath at six flags was not a B&M hyper coaster, but a Giovanola hyper coaster. And a few other rides I knew that were not B&M, but had track work that looked exactly like B&M. this video explains the reasoning behind that perfectly and lots of other information. Too bad Goliath at six flags magic mountain is not a B&M coaster, it would be way smoother and a better ride if it were a B&M manufactured ride.

I wonder if Intamin ever worked with mack? a lot of the features you find on mack coasters look just like intamin for example the restraint release contacts on avalanche are the exact same design as on Rita! and the ones on the mega/multi launch coasters are very similar to the Giovanola/B&M design also the trains are very similar to intamin, stadium seating, two seats, two rows per car and medium length trains, they also have similar restraints and track to intamin

Did Intamin produce the track for Mindbender and Shockwave too? Those rides have track similar to many Intamin coasters.

I've always thought Ride of Steel was a great coaster. It's been criticized for its simple layout, but to be fair, it was one of the first of its kind. You can also get some killer airtime on it, especially toward the end.

That's true, it was one of the first! The airtime does look great too :)

I’m so blessed to have been born in an era where so many kick ass thrill rides were made by guys like Intamin and B&M. We are living in a golden age for roller coasters!

I hope they make an epic comeback in the next few years. Such a good manufacturer. Too bad some of their rides developed a reputation for unreliability. I wonder if them or RMC will build the first polarcoaster. I’m leaning towards RMC with the new TRex design.

It does seem like they are making some sort of a comeback as of recently! It depends how they handle their next iteration of roller coasters!

I can't tell the diference between the track of Premier Rides, and the new Vekoma and S&S coasters. Is it the same?
@coasterbot
@coasterbot 4 жыл бұрын
It won't be exactly the same, but it may be similar in terms of general design. If you look closely you'll be able to tell the difference! :)

Anton Schwartzkopf was a genius. He invented the flywheel launch system, which used a large wheel attached to a winch drum to launch roller coaster trains at a high speed, resulting in some of the early contenders for the fastest roller coasters on Earth. The flywheel launch isn’t used anymore, but launched roller coasters are found everywhere!
