Knowing the quality of RMC coasters, the fact that the T-rex track can produce strata coasters is very promising. I can't be the only one who wants to know what a strata coaster could be like if it had more than just a top hat and an air time hill as the whole ride.
@michaelpryor78
@michaelpryor78 2 жыл бұрын
The issue with that is simply the cost. Building TTD or Kingda Ka today would cost around $37,000,000, and so lengthening the ride to what you're describing would easily be approaching the $50,000,000-$60,000,000 mark. Add in the fact that amusement parks are still recovering from the pandemic and that their attendance won't be great in 2022 with inflation, and it's safe to say that we won't see one anytime soon.

@@ARKAEA33 Comparing Universal's budget with Cedar Fair's or Six Flags's is like comparing a doctor's budget with the average college kid's. For one, the profitability of Universal parks has to blow the other two out of the water (remember when Six Flags went bankrupt in the 2000s?), but more importantly, lets look at who's backing Universal. Universal is parented by NBCUniversal, which is owned by Comcast, which is, you know, the mass media conglomerate ranked 28th among Fortune 500 companies. Endless investors, endless reserve capital, endless money. 200 million is piss in the wind to them. Cedar Fair and Six Flags on the other hand are amusement park companies. They can't be mentioned in the same sentence as Comcast.

Another well made video. One point of contention might be 5:18 "Alan Shilke was employed as an associate at Ride Centerline," when, in fact he is a co-founding partner in the engineering firm. Also skipped over, is the fact that his partner at Rides Centerline, Ned Hansen is also commissioned by RMC for train design work. It has been my understanding that both, through their company, Ride Centerline, are consultants to RMC more so than employees. Sort of in the same way Werner Stengel is a consultant to ...well pretty much every other coaster manufacturer through his company, Ingenieurburo Stengel GmbH. This arrangement allows for them to maintain their working relationship with former employer S&S and has worked out well for RMC as the fabricator of their 4D Free Spin track.

4:16 “It has always been a family owned business, one which shies away from a traditional corporate structure to provide a more intimate working experience; though this is somewhat unique within the industry, it hasn’t held the manufacturer back, but instead propelled them to new and exciting opportunities” better not tell most corporate structures that, they don’t seem to think it exists LUL

Well I’ve finally watched this and wow, great video Harry! Very interesting to know about their history, I had no idea they constructed El Toro. A contact of mine has his own company that maintains woodies, they do a lot of work with RMC and did a lot of the construction work for Untamed. I’m interested to see where RMC go in the future, I’ve often wondered this because not every park will want to convert their wooden coasters and there’s only so many times you can build something like Untamed before they start being like a B&M Invert, like an Intamin launch where people are like “oh it’s another one of them”.

Thanks Scott! That's really awesome to hear actually. Exactly, saturation could become a real issue. Who knows where they'll go with it all though. RMC clearly like innovating so if they keep that up they'll be fine! :)

COASTER BOT Agreed! B&M inverts are a great example, I no longer get excited by riding them having done a large number of them in recent years.

That's the reason I want a Raptor/T-Rex in Germany, not an I-Box or Topper Track. We are already surrounded pretty well with the latter, so I fear another one and they would start to step on each other's toes. Rather get an Europe first/world first instead.

This has to be my favorite company. I love stating the fact that my home-park of Six Flags New England has one of these beauties, Wicked Cyclone. First time I got off of it my legs were jelly. Also I disagree with the hate of the I-Box trains, I find them really comfy. I swear this company is a legend. Thanks for that fun fact about EL Toro, my respect level for RMC grew because of that.

RMC produce some awesome coasters! The trains seem to discriminate against tall people more, I've heard more complaints from tall people in general! :)

I've only been able to ride one rmc coaster which is twisted colossus at sfmm because that's where I live. Best coaster I have ever ridden and I do hope to get to other parks one day to try out more. I also don't think the market will be oversaturated with rmc coasters. The problem with some of these other coasters that pop up everywhere is most of them just don't live up to the hype, or get run down. The best thing about rmc coasters is that they are very very smooth and no over the shoulder restraints. That's what sets them apart and people want that.
