The issue is not that he owns and operates a business while being the head of the country. The issue is that once you are a public servant you are required to declare ALL your assets and earnings. Because the ppl who the public elect to lead them are to be held at the highest standard of integrity. It is very easy to misuse public funds when placed in a position of power, and both parties have been doing this for years. 1 Giving jobs And big Govt contracts to friends and business partners, then receiving “kickbacks” under the table. 2 Monies turn up missing out of public coffers and no one knows how, then after that no Govt official gets fired or charged. 3. Nepotism and a host of other stuff All these things have been going on for years in this corrupt country!

It is a sad reflection of the general populace that such behavior is tolerated. So many people in this comment section are defending alleged criminal actions by a Prime Minister. In any working democracy, they would be impeached or forced to resign within days. People care more about party loyalty and irrational feelings rather than facts and decisions that will actually improve their lives and their children's futures. For any intelligent Jamaican, the best course of action is to leave the country, as the majority seems content to embrace corruption, authoritarian policing, and perpetual poverty.

The one count of yhe two counts yhat the integrity commission could not fix was two bank accounts, on his father set up and he did not list and a second set up with an old employee that no longer works with him.. the first is probably he never knew. The second is probably he forgot he was a Co signer on it since they no longer work together, or he thought it was closed but the other person kept it open. Both are explainable but .. The other problems come from transactions within the three companies and how the third seems to be acting as a shell for the other two. As an accountant, I understand the use.. it has income from dividends and from loan interests and technically those do not count as income for taxes unless over certain amounts, and the problem comes from the accounting side as all three businesses normally have their own accounts and accountants, and someone is not listing the transactions properly for transparency. Someone got lazy, possibly due to being busy. Again..old days not a problem as long as numbers add up. New days, every transaction must march banking records, so if you have cash from ten people, thirty credit cards and five checks that is 45 separate lines in your accounts journal rather than the old 'daily deposit 400 usd ' or whatever yhe amount was..
