"He should have never spared Rose Marie." In other words, there's a connection between her Puppy's death. He knew Dante would kill Puppy, and he also knew that Cross would likely be the one who could kill Dante. That statement, "you must accept it" was actually prod, know that that it would incite Cross the more with it being his father. The Don is truly a master game player.
@DarlingNikki2 Жыл бұрын
Yes, the Don knew that Dante would grow up and want revenge on Pippi for his father's death because of the constant goading and brainwashing by Rose Marie. He, of course, couldn't kill his own grandson, but after Pippi's death, knew it was only a matter of time until Cross took Dante out, thus ending the family's huge problem in having such a bloodthirsty renegade in their midst. It's beautifully tragic because the Don loves his family and wouldn't wish death on any of them, but there was no other recourse in his mind but that Dante must die for his sin and that was not just killing Pippi, but more so for being a Santadio.

I read the book last week, and watched this film today. The movie was mostly true to the book, and I enjoyed the movie. The book spent too much time setting up the movie business. The movie compressed the book's movie business segment greatly, almost too much. I was excited to see how the characters were portrayed. I expected Claudia to be not as attractive, and Athena I expected to be more attractive. I was looking forward to see what Dante's renaissance hats looked like. Joe Mantegna and Kristie Alley were exactly as I imagined. Alley did a great job portraying a crazy Rose Marie. Read the book (power through the first 150 pages), then watch the film. You will be glad you did. Yes, I was entertained.

Now, I am going to play devil's advocate: The don laid the foundation for Dante's betrayal. The scene where he says that Dante is now the #1 hammer and tells Pipi to retire is the catalyst. Of course, Dante had to be held overall responsible, but he put the bait out there, and because of Dante's greed and ambition, he went for it. At the end of the movie, he said that it all happened as he had planned, it had the have been also his plan to be complete owner of the Xanadu. He sacrificed Pipi, it seems, for the greater good of the family, as it was to take out Dante.

Even in very cold weather, the Don still lied "there's no informant in the family" what a classic masterpiece.

Completley different, Gothfather wasn't a series it was written by the same guy but the two directors did Completely different things with it.

I think it’s real sad when a father teaches their own child how to be a murderer instead of teaching them how to be on the right side of the tracks

I Understand The Don was ahead of Santandio in the wealth fight and they are great enemies, for the wedding of two great enemies goes through it will bring piece between them at the end of the marriage, So they want to take their final pound of fresh before any reconciliation with the Marriage by killing Savior and that's where the story begins. Great Movie I really enjoy watching it over and over, many lessons in it too, From bad Government to bad society to war between families to War within the family to Revenge among the family.
