This is just brilliant!!! I've been looking for something like this for months, I have the exact same NUC and it gets loud and hot as a car engine. I thought of taking out the whole stock cooler and replacing it with a cooler (heatsink+fan) like yours, but the socket incompatibility is an issue. So I reckon you put the heatsink over the stock fan, having cut out a hole in the metal cover? (Sorry my English listening is not that good so I might've missed something.) Anyway, thank you so much for this video!!

Hey i found it works best cutting the metal cover so the the heatsink have direct contact with the stock heat sink via thermal paste.. i left the stock fan in but it hardly ever turns on due to the heatsink is good enough to keep cpu cool

@Hayden Fluntboy and what is that cement-looking putty the heatsink is attached with on the sides and the pipes? Is it thermal conductive -or the complete opposite, isolating?

Thanks for the video! I would love to know how you made the connection point between the CPU and the cooler, given that I did not find any cooler that fits the bracket of this CPU. Thank you.

Which copler did you go with and how did you get cut out and make contact with the cpu and where do you run the power for the cooler

Hi . The heatsink was came with my old AMD FX 8350 and fan was off a old laptop cooling stand .. pretty much what ever I had on hand at the time

I wonder to replace the fan cooler system with arctic alpine 12 passive cooler, and make 3d printed case to cover it.. Inspired by Nucintosh project.. But I didn't know if the passive cooler would compatible with the 11th gen Nuc's board or not..

hello and greetings from Greece! I have a rather "newbie" question but I have to ask because I am thinking of applying a cooler with a heatsink as well on my NUC8BEK too... The voltage of every fan cooler is 12V if i am not mistaken...The pins inside the box are 4pined and 3V , so how does the fan works? Where did you connect your fan inside the box? My main concern is the 12V outcome of the fan because there are a lot of heatsinks with fan in the market that can be used for this modification but I cant think of a way to keep the maximum opearation of the fan when connected with the box, either on a usb port [which is 5v] or inside of any pin array which is 3V. Thank you in advance!

Most fan will run from 5volts .. or there is also USB to 12volter Step up converter you can you

What is the recommended period for cleaning the fan?

Depending on how dusty the working environment is ..I still not clean any of the two yet as it's been going every day
