My freshman year I was a biology major. My biology professor was an atheist. She gave genetic evidence that snakes used to have legs and now they don’t because of “sonic hedgehog “ gene mutations. My family was in and out of the church, so I only knew the stories they tell children and some of the cliches. But I couldn’t stop thinking about Genesis all class, so I reread the first few chapters when I got home. I believe God had been working on me my whole life, but that is the moment that I had finally realized it. Unfortunately, that moment of clarity faded and it took until years later to fully receive and understand the Gospel. I’m all in. Finally getting baptized at my church whenever services open back up! Also graduating next week in with a BA in Psychology. God bless you all, and thank you for reading part of my testimony.

Jose Velez Cuevas Oof. Believe it or not, the gene was named after Sonic the Hedgehog. Scientists are nerds, what can I say? The gene in question steadily made snakes lose their legs after millions of years of mutations and evolution. And this professors atheism had nothing to do with her skill at teaching. There was no need to bring it up, other than your prejudices against them

Frank, my daughter went to UNC (graduated in 2007) She had the "great" Bart Ehram as a professor. My daughter still has the notes and textbook from that class. She grew stronger because of his position, not weaker. She searched the scriptures to see if what he said was true. The problem is not that are children are being talked out of Christianity, it is because they were talked into it. Christianity is a conversion experience, not a business decision that one is talked into. Any decision one is talked into they can be talked out of. But a confrontation with the Lord of Universe, that is not being talked into anything.

Yes, being "born again" is an experience as many people tell about it. You are never the same again. Watch Todd White's testimony, he was on drugs and an alcoholic for 20 years, he lied, stole and no one in hos family believed him when he was born again. He had to prove it to them.

But wasn’t she raised for 18 years into believing in god? So if someone can “brainwash” her into believing otherwise in a month or two, isn’t it possible that that’s actually how she feels, and is thinking for herself?

@@thegreatkingofevilganondor1500 I am not sure what you mean or imply by the statement "believing in God". Yes, she had a belief in God, just as many people have a belief in different things. However, her belief was not simply the acknowledgment of God or a strong assumption that God existed. She added to her belief, evidence, and experience. Her belief in God was more than agreeing with what mom and dad say. It was more than believing what the preacher said on Sunday. It was a faith that was demonstrated and proven time and time again. It was a believing faith that was tested and found strong and true. It was not a belief that she was "talked into" and thus over time could be "talked out of".

I cannot find a website that talks about that. On the other hand, I can find tens of thousands of papers that provide evidence to support a pattern and process of evolution by natural selection with descent from a common ancestor. If you don't believe in evidence, go back to your videos that spout voodoo nonsense about supernatural forces creating species 6000 years ago. Then educate yourself about the religions that accept and rationally support the evolutionary process as explaining adaptation and the diversity of life on earth.

Demonstrating that a claim on a talk show is unsupported, if it in fact happened, cannot be logically construed as a demonstration that "evolution is proven wrong." Harry Nicholas I often keep away from using the term 'religion' to describe it. I like to use from hindi 'dharma' (wearables ) or arabic 'Din' (way). 'Religion' sounds like relic. U wear the cloth out of neccessity and enhancement, u wear dharma for the same reason. And god's dharma is the best one out there but beware of the culprits who corrupt it. I vouch for Islam as all other dharma was for those ages, Islam is for the rest of the days before judgement. Yeah I bet u'd say it's the way of the terrorist but guess what it's very appropriate time u get terrified of the truth cause judgement day is not very far. Billions of years of universe? And may be infinite time to go? But I hate to say all this will come to an end in may be just 500 years (only god knows the exact time). Not by human conflict, but because the purpose of god for this test will be over. U've been warned old man - it's not the best way I get it but don't earn eternal torment. If u have grudge on humans fik them if u can in legal ways but don't let their deed fik u eternally.

This is extremely important, and it absolutely cannot be ignored. I work in children's ministry at my church, and we are currently working on curriculum to teach kids apologetics starting from a young age all the way up through high school. Another key issue that cannot be ignored is the fact that most children have not read the Bible by the time they reach age 18. This is another curriculum we are developing in order to have our kids as fully prepared as possible. We are a small team, and as of now, the only ones working on this project are me (an intern) and our children's ministries director. Prayer would be very great as we search for wisdom on how to stop the slaughter of the faith. I hope that I can provide insights and share our curriculum with others in churches and schools so that we can start equipping our kids to provide real answers to real questions. If you are interested in the curriculum we have so far, or would like to contribute to developing and submitting a similar curriculum at your church, feel free to message me. I would love to share the insights and research I have so far, and to pinball off of your ideas. You can message me, and I will start to collaborate an email chain with people from all ministries working to solve this issue. God bless.

That's it, the whole thing. Atheism doesn't have beliefs or motivations. It doesn't have anything. So, when you understand that, you will need to review your ideas that formed your assertion regarding sex. Let me know how it affects your thinking.

Really, really slow decay. Even Socrates complained about civilization going to pot cuz of these darn kids. Every single generation thinks the previous ones are responsible for everything that's wrong with the present system. This seems undeniably true but I'm biased. The funny thing is the oldest living generation always thinks the newer ones are mucking it all up and we just need to go back to the good ol days. His quote of Peter Singer is quite stupid and intentionally misleading. Molecular machines? People made machines. Organisms are life. Machines are not alive. Organisms reproduce. Machines do not. Bart Ehrman is a decent historian but he's been sloppy but he agrees at least that Jesus existed as a historical person. We absolutely do not know what the original New Testament said no matter what Erhman says or doesn't say. This Turek guy is a putz. You don't have to listen to the pastor or the professor. University is supposed to teach you how to evaluate evidence for yourself. So you should go to the original Koine Greek and read it for yourself. The earliest manuscript, a part of one sentence from the Revelation to John (aka Book of Revelation), dates to 125 A.D. at the earliest! Don't believe me, go to the John Rylands Library in Manchester, England where it's on permanent display. Don't believe paleography is a legitimate dating methods? Go learn how it works and judge for yourself. You can watch videos by Christian Paleographers who talk about why they think what they do. Here's all it says (translated from Greek) the Jews, "For us it is not permitted to kill anyone," so that the word of Jesus might be fulfilled, which he sp- oke signifying what kind of death he was going to die. Entered therefore again into the Praeto- rium Pilate and summoned Jesus and said to him, "Thou art king of the Jews?" Then 11 lines are lost Then: a King I am. For this I have been born and (for this) I have come into the world so that I would test- ify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears of me my voice." Said to him Pilate, "What is truth?" and this having said, again he went out unto the Jews and said to them, "I find not one fault in him." But this story is all bullshit. Pilate was a super hard ass who didn't mind at all killing innocent people. He certainly wouldn't hesitate to kill Jesus. He certainly wouldn't hem and haw and ask the Jewish leaders for guidance. There was never any Roman custom of letting a Jewish prisoner go. They certainly would never let Barabas (whose name means Son of Man lol) a murderer and rebel against Rome (note these were the sins of Israel against God - Murder and Rebellion) they never let a convict like that just go. It's doubly ridiculous when just a few days earlier Jesus was greeted by throngs of screaming fans when he entered Jerusalem. And just a few words from some priests turn them from Jesus? Come on, none of it passes even the most basic historical smell test. Anyway, the earliest Canon was very probably the Marcion Canon which we don't have. It rejects the entire Old Testament. Note we've found upwards of 40 different Christian Gospels - en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Testament_apocrypha - And of the 4 Gospels of the modern Canon, Marcion only used 1 - Luke. What we do have is the 4 great codices. The earliest of which is the Codex Vaticanus which dates between 300-325 A.D. So the truth is, this guy y'all love is a liar. He said the girl was lied to by her professor that we don't know who wrote the Gospels (we don't) and that we don't have the first Bible (or however he exactly phrased it). We don't. If he can produce it, he'd be a rock star and win fortune and Glory for God. Truly I heard nothing of substance. Just a bunch of fear baiting and sensationalism to get you all to exert political pressure on a system he hates. The truth should have nothing to fear from inquiry.

That's not my theology, and not the biblical teaching either. God made us in his own image, free, creative beings, meanings free to decide and act. In that freedom we are able to hate and hurt one another, but God knew, without that freedom, no love could be possible. You seem too intelligent to actually believe the implied straw man argument... Based on all you said in this thread, you must understand that while some parts of the NT are as late as you say, others are earlier. Mark, Thessalonians, Philippians, Romans, Corinthians, Galatians, and more are dated reliably by many, as ranging from perhaps 30 years after the death of Christ, to perhaps 50-60 years thereafter. See, 1 Corinthians 15:6 "many of them are still alive..." as if to say, go ask them. So anyone who speaks about the possibility for lore and legend weaving itself into the story in that time frame is not being fair. Worse still, if not lore & legend, then what? Lies? Were these believers simply making stuff up, in a concerted effort to mislead? I could almost see this explanation, but then what is their motivation? Fame? Money? Well that doesn't hold up either because these writers, and disciples were unanimously torn apart by lions, beheaded, stoned to death, or worse for spreading their "heresy", that Jesus literally came back from the dead. So in conclusion, I think we are free, and yet God is sovereign, and this is not a contradiction. What's more, the idea that the NT is legend seems mistaken, and the possibility that the NT being a lie, seems illogical on its face as we consider the persecution of the early church. Thanks for your comment. God bless.

I guess cause his opinion is different from yours that makes him hateful and dangerous in your mind. He calls out some collages for teaching pedophilia and bestiality . So I guess since you disagree with him so you think that pedophilia and bestiality is a good thing. Stop acting like he has hate cause you cannot handle the truth of what he is saying and if he was full of hate like yous are. He would have shown way more anger when talking like some of the previous comments I read do. He is not hateful he is not dangerous the people he is calling out are. In fact one of the people that he mentioned said he hates religion. Proving who is full of hate here and who is not. Someone who is trying to explain something would stay calm like Frank did the whole time. When someone is trying to force what they believe on you they get angry and belligerent and spew a bunch of nonsense because they are so angry and there is no one on this earth more guilty of that than Richard Dawkins period. The earth is fine tuned for life and that is a fact and a bunch of random events would never cause that to happen. Only a being with a extreme amount of intelligence can do that. Another thing only that being could do is make it that plants and animals need each other to live. It takes something intelligent to create a world where plant life keeps animals alive by producing oxygen and animals keep plants alive by producing carbon dioxide. And if one want to believe there is no afterlife. Then you do not understand energy. Cause the laws of energy proves that there is a afterlife. Because the laws of energy state that energy cannot dissipate or be destroyed. But it can and will transfer. Since it is a fact that there is energy in all living things. And it is a fact that energy cannot be destroyed and a fact that energy transfers. It is a fact that when the body dies the energy that was in that body will still exist proving without a doubt that there is a afterlife and that is common sense.

ozzyrrv420 I was going to explain to you why the world is 'balanced' as it is (there is nothing random about it) and how it got that way, but dear, oh dear, the further I read the worse it got. Your understanding of biology, evolution or the world in general is so wrong and simplistic I don't have the energy to start explaining the basics to you. Go, instead, and read some basic biology books. If that's too hard for you, google 'how evolution actually works'. That should get you started on a new, interesting and meaningful life. My ten year old niece has a better grip on reality than you. If you are older than she is, you should be ashamed of yourself for being so poorly educated and deluded. P.S. Don't bother to reply if you think you have a valid argument regarding your imaginary being in the sky to sell me - I don't have the time or energy to waste. There are other people who actually benefit from these engagements and I'd rather give my time to them.

+Olivia Westbrook, hypothesis is either a suggested explanation for an observable phenomenon, or a reasoned prediction of a possible causal correlation among multiple phenomena. In science, a theory is a tested, well-substantiated, unifying explanation for a set of verified, proven factors. A theory is always backed by evidence; a hypothesis is only a suggested possible outcome, and is testable and falsifiable. Now, show me or tell me the evidence for Big Bang and evolution! Keep in mind that the earth and the universe appeared to be old, but they were created in 6 days. Just like Adam and Eve appeared to be old, but they were 1 day old.

In 1934, a man named C.H. Roberts found a fragment of John's gospel, that he dated to between 100 and 150 A.D. Another paleographer named Adolf Deissmann was convinced its at least as old as the reign of Emperor Hadrian, who ruled from 117 - 138 A.D....and that's a third-generation copy. That's barely over a century's gap for the ones we have now, and the originals were written much earlier.

Christianity is not a religion, it's a relationship with Jesus. So many people make comments and have no clue what they are talking about because they don't do their research to honorably represent someone. Also if you can't understand the things of God, according to the Bible it's because your eyes are not opened, so you believe a lie, pray to God to open your eyes and be sincere and He will.

A classic mistake made by many is assuming certain things have always remained the same. In this case, it would be the Earth's oceans. Some apologists have offered the possibility that before the Flood, Earth was mostly land on the surface. This would mean that animals were able to freely move from one great landmass to another, with little comparable effort to today. Why is it so ridiculous to people, that the oceans weren't always in their present form?

People promote the Bible as the Word of God, but when you actually put aside blind faith and look at it critically, it really isn't compelling on its own, like we'd expect it to be if it were the Word of God, the creator of Heaven, the Universe and everything else. I mean it's a great collection of stories with important moral lessons in many of them, but trying to interpret it like a literal history is impossible for me. Sorry. :(

See en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contra_Celsum. So Christian apologetics has been dealing with many of today's regurgitated attacks for thousands of years. Reading the early church fathers can be good groundwork for today's Christian apologists.

This was a good watch. I didn't come out of it a believer but I can't be closed minded to positions that are contrary to my own. If he was to prove christianity right of course I'd have to have every other religion prove themselves wrong or at least give them the same opportunity to show them why they think they have it right. If God is Logical, I don't think that he would leave it up to hearsay for proof of belief. What's the big deal with showing yourself to everyone, in every age so that no one has no doubt that you exist. That would be the most sensible thing in my opinion. The contradictions in the bible aren't covered and he said that if the new testament is true, so is the old. What about all of the laws they're breaking from the old testament? It talks more about shellfish than it does about homosexuality. Not that I engage in either of those practices because I don't but he seems to be against the one that gets the least mention in the bible. Agnosticism. I won't say there isn't a god but no one has shown me evidence for any of them. As far as where did the universe come from. I think white holes are a good topic to explore. We still don't know.

Stephen Davis .... the bible is true history of our heritage.. all the way back to adam. Then in the new testament.. those people were shown that what was predicted to happen( a savior would be sent) actually happened. The apostles and authors like matthew walked with Jesus in his time on earth and there were many who were a witness to Jesus' return. Part of our salvation requires faith.. that is trust and belief of something even though we have not seen. That is faith.. hope in what we believe to be true based on a promise by one who was proven to be physically here.. We were created by God and he knows us better than we know ourselves... does anything argue with a creator and claim to know more about what was created with the one who made it??? Stephen Davis - The first problem in your statements is this if Frank Turek were to prove Christianity true, then all other religions are false by definition of the law of non-contradiction. Secondly, you are assuming that you know better than God. You’re assuming that if He is logical, then He must directly show Himself to all of humanity. Perhaps, God knows what is best. Also, I personally believe that even in the case you presented most or some people would not obey God or live their lives according to his commandments. Furthermore, concerning the Bible, it seems to me that you might be unfamiliar with Christian theology concerning the New and Old Testament. Moreover, we know that the universe was made out of nothing. The best explanation of this cause is God. If you would suggest white holes. You would have to bring evidence for it. Not to mention the white holes would have to be outside of the universe to create it.

Michael Babbitt I think, 'Babbitt in dreamland', "Your arguments are -----" de-fective, would be one move closer to the truth. In trying to put some sort of logic to your in appropriate response to my comment. I can imagine you are intention is to suggest that Turek is 'effective' because people like me are bringing attention to his 'message'. I'm afraid you are delusional if that is what you think. It simply gives us an opportunity to expose the fraud Turek for what he really is. People with intelligence that rates above intellectually challenged, who have been brainwashed in their younger, more vulnerable years, have the opportunity to 'wise up' and stop wasting their lives with this stupidity and, also, stop being fleeced by these sleazy, 'snake oil' pedlars. Alas, though, I think your "Thank you again, Frank Turek. Your arguments are effective", is simply that you have a very limited ability to engage in constructive dialogue. Thank you Babbitt for the opportunity to express a little more truth and understanding to Turek's victims. (You do know, MB, you're one of the victims? Olivia Westbrook Last word to you, Olivia. You do not know me in the least and arrogance is not the basis for argumentation. Also, insults are not arguments although on the internet it often seems that this is a presupposition presented by the brights who think think they know it all and only if others knew their genius they would bow before them in awe. For your edification: I have an MA in Comparative Religion, have practiced in the Rabbinic Judaism tradition, have been a Buddhist, and participated in portions of Hinduism. I also was an atheist in my youth. So I know your game. I became a follower of Jesus/Yeshua because the quality of the historical materials and its vast array of arguments made the most sense, intellectually and in terms of human meaning. I sort of stand in the tradition of Blaise Pascal and his insights into the human condition. So just get off your high horse for awhile and stop assuming bad intents to those you disagree with. If you ever let yourself think out of your mental confines, you might just have more respect for others.

And, finally, I was not presenting an "argument", I was explaining the fact that Turek is a fraud and asking you how you could thank him. It was you that tried to make an argument with your childish, "Thank you again, Frank Turek. Your arguments are effective", repeat. Noah's Ark is completely possible; many have used the original cubit measurements to construct a facsimile in a computer, and see if it would float. People wrongly assume that every variant of every creature was on that boat but Scripture says otherwise. Only land-dwellers with "the breath of God in their nostrils" were placed on the Ark...and God brought them to Noah, not the other way around. No insects or oceanic creatures were on the Ark, because they could ride out a Flood just fine.

Colleen Glenney Boggs comments on Kuzniar in the book Animalia Americana: Animal Representations and Biopolitical Subjectivity pg 32: "In other words, to admit that ones object choice MIGHT NOT be restricted to ONES OWN SPECIES, means to loosen the power granted sexual categories to socially regulate the individual." When she says "this love is liberating", I believe she means "liberation" as in gay liberation.

The notion of people having no qualms about using their dog sexually is so absurd that when I read "lover" I thought, "Well, maybe she's being poetic and using the meaning of the word in the 18th century." Your lover, then, was just your mutual crush, or your flirting partner. But even then, it doesn't fit without question -- you don't crush-on or flirt-with your dog. Oh, the depravity!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2 Timothy Chapter 3 (KJV) 1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. 6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, 7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. 8 Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith. 9 But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was.

no... because circles are round and no stick can have only one end. Your sentence is nonsensical and God isn't a God of arbitrary nonsense. Making a gibberish sentence isn't the same as making a gibberish object. By definition, as soon as a circle as a corner it isn't a circle. By definition, if a stick has only one end, then I'm not even sure what that is, but it's not a stick. He can make anything he wants to, but it won't have those names except by simply talking nonsense and calling squares circles. I can do that right now "see guys, God made a square circle, I know it looks like a square... but it's in fact a circle!" Now, if these things can be done, they will be done via hyperdimentionality, in which case the circle isn't JUST a circle, and the stick isn't JUST a stick. example: a cylinder with an equal diameter and height is a square circle... except it's not. It's a 3D shape that is a square from the side and a circle from the top and bottom. but the object itself isn't a circle or a square... but it's both from a certain perspective. I suppose a one ended stick could be a single-dimensional point named "stick". God can do whatever he wants, but saying: God can klsjdgfnsklagh cause I said so, cause he's god and he can skjdgnsklg as much as he likes"... the hell does that mean? It's gobbledygook. What you said is gobbledygook. If you mean he can do things that we think are impossible or that he can defy the comprehensible, understandable or fathomable, then sure. You're right. But a "square circle" is a DEFINED and rhetorically comprehensible object designed by logic to be illogical... like a brain virus, it's a KNOWN gibberish anti-sensical idea.

The bible's wrong on the first page and then contradicts its own account of creation on the second. So it can't be true if you just take Genesis 1 and 2. As for deep that's subjective and I'd go so far as to say it's not really that 'deep'. Not cooking a goat in it's mother's milk, one of the commandments placed in the ark of the covenant seems superficial at best. I'm sorry I should have said try thinking and reading the bible at the same time it's the quickest way to become an atheist. Another thing, explain the process where an atheist who has exactly the same faculties as a theist can't "see" what you see when you read the bible.

***** let's make this simple:let's just look at the bible. God says let there be light but then he creates the sun and all the stars (the only light sources in the universe) on day 4.On day 3 he makes plants and they bear fruit, something plants can only do through photosynthesis, but hey they need the sun to do that.Another nonsense is dividing light from dark. Dark is simply the absence of light they're not seperate entities. It makes sense to us now because we understand that the we revolve around the sun but back then when they didn't light and dark made more sense as seperate things.What is a firmament if you read the hebrew then firmament means dome an actual physical dome. Is there a dome covering the Earth? We know better but they didn't it looked like a dome so it probably was one. on day 4 god makes the sun and moon but describes them as discs or lights. They're not discs and the moon reflects light from the sun . Why not mention that? As an afterthought god makes the stars. The stars! In the Milky Way Galaxy alone there are over 300 billion stars and most of the stars you see at night are actually galaxies each with hundreds of billion stars, there are more stars in the universe than there are grains of sand on Earth.Why not say what a big job it was to make all of that? It's ridiculous. There's something called the 'Enuma Elish' google it, that pre-dates Genesis by a 1000 years. It gives an exact account of everything that happens in Genesis BUT each day is represented by a different generation of ancient Babylonian pair of gods. so when water is seperated by the land you have a god that is water and a goddess called land, with light and dark are seperated there's a god who is darkness and a goddesses who is light. Genesis is an interpretation of a creation myth by an older civilisation who believed in a pantheon of gods. It's not an accurate description of how the universe started, it's a story we made up.
@inshansep
@inshansep 10 жыл бұрын
***** Wow, that's the response?I have no issue with you quoting someone else but do you believe it?[ It's not your theory so it wouldn't help if I asked you to defend it I could ask how the Earth would be able to warm up if there was a blanket of water around us reflecting the heat or how would plants grow,or how would cold-blooded animals function,or, why didn't that water freeze in space and reflect even more sunlight , why there wouldn't be a planet wide ice age.But it's not your theory. The person you're quoting is agreeing with me, he is saying that the Genesis story is wrong and that the bible is in error. He is in fact re-writing the bible.Are you okay with that? On your own commentary, does any of that matter if what you can see and understand stands in complete opposition to it? They did not understand the world like we do. They drew from what was commonly understood as the best interpretation no matter where it came from and are you saying that the Hebrews started out as a distinct nation? With their own ideas and identity? The languages, customs, and traditions of the ancient Hebrews place them more as a breakaway group of an older civilisation or society. In fact you can find the 10 commandments based on Hammarabi's law which is Babylonian. Yahweh and El are all Caananite gods so they were clearly influenced by everyone around them.
