I think they should have added crits and backstabs for carian sword spells. Would have been nice to be able to make a spellblade that could take advantage of parries and block counters

Brother you are a life saver. I clocked in about 90 hours of my first build being guts. Love it to death but the lack of high level spells forced me to miss out and i finally wanted a change when i hit the Capital. This build is perfect for me to try out the best of both incantations and sorcery. Bravo!

I just finished a whole Playthrough using this build from scratch on a New Save, it was one of the most fun Slow Runs I've ever done, I also used Discus of Light to explore the caves and it worked really well for this build, congrats for the build videos, your videos are very informative and your builds are well done

Discus of light is a great incant. Only limitation is the 6 levels of int for a prophet, but otherwise fantastic. Too bad it's not available as an ash of war.

I made a magma/rock mage build, if you want some inspiration. The basis for the build is the fact that the magma spells have quite low faith requirements, and so do beastial incantations. So you can greate what I like to call the "Geomancer". The best starting class I found was actually Wretch. I like running the "Corpse" imp head to help me meet my 18 faith requirement, then basically everything else goes into intelligence. You can use flame grant me strength to boost both your fire and physical damage (which are your only two damage types), and I run the Azure's staff for the actually pretty high scaling and the boost to cast speed (which is very important for all your spells, beastial sling is near instant with this staff and radagon's icon). Offhand is of course golden order, and you can run through mobs easily with gurranq's boulder, rock sling, and beast claw (which don't have increased cost from the staff because they're incantantions) The build is super fun and an actually quite viable way to play a sorcerer without feeling like another "pew pew" glintstone burger King nerd. Edit: with 71 int, my azure's staff has like 330 scaling. Which is much more efficient and deals better damage than the Gelmir staff at 50/50.

The slender sword must be destined for mages, because the only time I had one drop was as a mage. I found Order Healing to be another useful incantation for certain areas. Another offensive incantation I suggest you take another look at, which synergizes nicely with the golden order seal, is Discus of Light. This cant was buffed in 1.07 and now has absolutely staggering damage to FP cost ratio, capable of dealing 1-2k damage at the cost of only 3 FP, if you hit with it twice.

I made this build a few days before 1.07 came out and, at that time, Golden Order Incantations were pretty bad. Now, things have definitely changed. It is absolutely worth using and, as you mentioned, it is EXTREMELY cost efficient. That’s the power of this build. So many choices. Thank you for your comment.

Why am I finding this after 1 year? This video is so good! I've always been a Int/Fai player, and your video gave me another perspective. I usually run with the seal+staff in left hand while having a dagger with bloodhound step in the right hand and low equip load, I love the ash of war because it alows me to reposition and it's stylish. I also run nokstella moon talisman because I like variety. I wound't run some of the spells you mentioned but still your explanation was so convicing that I am thinking about using some of them! I would suggest swapping the crimson hood for rennala's headpiece as it gives 3 levels of intelligence i would also change the priority of leveling from 40-60 vigor to be after or in tandem with leveling faith since you will need faith for a wide variety of spells and the longer it takes to get that going the less of the game you get to use it especially since lightning fire and holy are best used by incantations I would at least recommend getting faith to 20 earlier to take advantage of the golden order seal so that your intelligence can boost your incantations

I will never run Rennala's hat in my builds. It looks ridiculous. Unless someone shows me some kind of Dark Magician cosplay that works with it, I think it is one of the worst looking head pieces in the game. I always go for Fashion over Stats, so this is a no-go for me. Of course, this is a personal thing. If you do like this piece of armor, definitely go for it. It is extremely efficient. As for the changes in the Leveling priorities, these are good suggestions. I ran this build as a Sorcery Mage and then turned it into a Hybrid but, honestly, you have a very good point. It was easier to run as a Mage but, in the spirit of the build, I would give your priorities a try. Thank you for your comment.

Very nice build especially with the new patch buffing a lot of the sorceries and incantations. Personally i would run 70 int and 30 faith with the carian regal scepter instead. At 30 faith you still get access to a lot of the useful incantations and still get good scaling on the golden order seal.

The new patch came in perfectly for this build. Everything this build can use has received a buff in one way or another. I am actually very happy about it. Now, I ran the numbers with your set-up: 70 INT; 30 FTH; Carian Regal Scepter and Golden Order Seal. Honestly? Not bad. This is interesting. We lose about 6% Damage on Incantations, but gain about 15% Damage on Sorceries. Like you mentioned, we do lose access to some Incantations (some fun ones too); but we do get access to new Sorceries (Moons and Azur Comet are unlocked). Overall, I leave it to personal choice. Depending what you like the most, Sorceries or Incantations, you pick one or the other. Very nice. Thank you for your contribution and your comment.

With the recent patch, many of the spells and tools that this build uses got a boost. Which means that this build is now even more powerful than what I intended when I made it. I am honestly surprised that not many viewers pointed out the difficulty to obtain weapons like the Noble Slender Sword and the Gelmir Glintstone Staff. Fortunately, they can be substituted if you don't want to farm. Use a Shortsword instead of the Noble's Sword. And you can use the Prince of Death Staff instead of the Gelmir. Did a similar build as my first build because it's what I did in DS3, ran all of the frenzy incants because they're fun and all the magic weapons. Only went up to 40 vigor so I could have stats to use the dark moon gs and it carried me through everything. It's much more fun to use almost everything, even if my dmg wasn't ridiculously high (: Also rock blaster is underrated as an early game spell that you can get by just getting teleported to caelid, you deny anything the chance to climb a ladder or approach your face. I've sent many invaders tumbling to their doom with it.

Cool build, nice bling. This is very similar to the build I am running, except I use carian slicer as a main weapon and only use Sword of Night and Flame as a backup for low-FP situations. You should also check out some sorcery/incantation combos! Carian Piercer into Horns of the Crucible into Radagons rings or golden rejection absolutely slaps, NPC fights are laughably easy

Very nice. While I do like this build, I think running fundamentalist incantations would be a better choice for a int/faith build, as they scale with both attributes. Not only that but they synergies with the Erdtree shield, as the discs can be parried by the Erdtree shield weapon art. However, near late game, holy damage is absolute butt-shit, and having more damage types is very useful.

I really dislike the Golden Order Incantations. I don’t think they are that good. Even with the Erdtree Greatshield gimmick. I prefer using all the other Incantations that we have access to. Just as a side note (Re: Your comment about the Flame of the Redmanes); it would be better to use Flame Art affinity (not Fire). Fire is based on Strength where as Flame Art is based on Faith - a much better stat to scale with for a build with only 8 strength :P

@@FrownyGaming Well it's funny because you said Sacred or Flame Art -first-, then mentioning Flame of the Redmanes ( 9:04 - 9:07 ) you said "fire" :) Also good guide, not just commenting for criticism 👍Very in depth and fashionable :D You're right, at this level Prince of Death's Staff and Gelmir's Staff are virtually the same. At 80/80 Int-Fai Prince of Death's Staff outperforms all other staffs (esp if thrown in death sorceries with its innate boosts) EDIT: Ooooh also, another good choice/combo (for int-side) is Great Blade Phalanx + Carian Granduer. The amount of poise damage and raw damage is staggeringly high... It's insane! lol

I finally got around to checking this out. In the Time Stamp you provided, I do say "Fire damage". I meant this as Fire-Type Damage, not Fire Affinity. While I never really mention Fire Affinity, I can see why it would bring confusion. Again, thank you for bringing this up.

Came back to this video because I'm thinking of an Int-Fai build again but not sure how I want to go about it. Spell-side most likely, sacrificing a bit of Vigor for 70-50 which also benefits SoNAF and gains access to all the high level sorceries and incantations. Alternatively do a pure Faith build on NG, and then tackle on INT in NG+ (and dual wield Staff of Loss for a night sorcerer build)

Initially, the name comes from “syncretism”, which is the belief of inclusion and merging all faiths together into one cohesive one without discrimination. Its the idea of everyone co-existing in harmony. Afterwards, I brought it together with AC through the novel “Alamut”. I did some slight tweaking of the common mantra to better fit the build. I think it’s a very cool name, so I am glad that you liked it. Thank you for your comment.

The best tools for this build are ones that scale off both stats, that just happens to include the sword of night and flame.

I am not a fan of Sword of Night and Flame. It requires an additional 4 points of Strength investment and it has triple split damage, which is not really a good thing. That said, it is very useful and worth using. Just not for me. Thank you for your comment.

Hey, this build is pretty good and fun! I'm getting a couple of characters ready for the DLC, one of them is this build. I'm a bit under level 120 and I just shredded the Godskin Duo on my first try wielding Black Flame Ritual and Glintstone Icecrag, no summons.

This build has access to gravity Sorceries, so those would be a good choice. Maybe Gravity Well. Personally, I would probably put the Gravitas AoW on my sword. I can keep it in my back pocket and save a spell slot. Thank you for your comment.

Yes I did. In this build, with this stat spread, the Staff of the Guilty is weaker than Gelmir Glintstone Staff. So it is better to stick to Gelmir. That said, there is potential for a pure faith build, that sprinkles intelligence to meet sorcery requirements and using the Staff of the Guilty for that. I haven't tried it, but the number are not abysmal at first glance. Thank you for your comment.

Generally speaking, I run weapon and catalyst in the Main Hand with another Catalyst or Shield in the Off Hand, depending on the build. As for the caster dude you are talking about, his name is Rogier. Yes, he is dying and will eventually die, dropping his weapon, armor and Bell Bearing, which will let you get all of the AoW that he sells. Thank you for your comment.

If we remove the Rune Level cap, then I would increase Mind for more FP, and then continue to increase INT and FTH for more spell damage. A bit of STR is also good to use other weapons like Sword of Night and Flame. Thank you for your comment.

I was thinking about this for opening up arcane options and some weapons, possibly some armour/fashion options if you wanted more end. I believe 167 is the cap to keep you within the PVP window that you'd still be in at 150. So you'd have 17 more levels to play with. Hopefully I'm not wrong there. If not though, that seems like a good point to stop. I was originally going to stop with a pure mage build at 150 but when I decided to try my own hybrid int/faith, I felt a need for a bit more breathing room.

Death's Poker is actually a Quality weapon that tilts more into Dexterity. Running INT/FTH with Quality might spread your points too thin. That said, if you are going to go into the higher Rune Level ranges, then all it takes is patience. Thank you for your comment.

(Check out Nizar GG Death Mage build, it's the one I'm doing) My build it's more based around the ash of war of that weapon and sword of magic and fire. With Spells and incantations more for long range. Radagon soreseal makes it crucial to have. I haven't even beaten Margit but have those two weapons are +4, Im level 40 with Meteorite staff til I upgrade prince staff.

@@TheEru88 Shit, that's a good point. I tend to shy away from using weapons as Ash of War sticks, so I had not considered it. Are you using the Prince of Death's Staff to actually cast the spells, or just for the damage boost? I find the hybrid sorcery staffs to be a bit on the weaker end. Even in this build I show, the Gelmir Glintstone Staff disappointed me a bit.

I'm just being getting OP before I even start the game, I actually haven't even gone to Storm veil. I bypass and got to Carion Manor just to get the Sword. I'm sure in terms of power it's not gonna beat the meta mage build of double staff of loss and night comet but it's so fun Shooting Ancient death rancor then shooting the mini comet azur that it's the ash of war of the sword of magic and ice.

By the time that you reach the end-game, you can buy crafting materials after having obtained the corresponding bell-bearing. Since I do not level up past 150, I have a lot of leftover runes that I invest in hundreds of crafting materials for all of my builds' weapons. Even while naturally playing the game, exploring the world will give you access to enough crafting materials to upgrade a few weapons. It is a matter of looking around. Thank you for your comment.

With these exact same Stats, Astrologer is the most efficient Starting Class for this build. That said, Prophet is not a bad choice either. When planning the build, I though about running Prophet with some Longswords, since it has better Starting Strength. But, as you mentioned it did mean running a but less Endurance. All in all, it will depend on what kind of weapons you want to run. If you want to use the build EXACTLY as I presented it, Astrologer is the best. Sword of Night and Flame is a good weapon to use. Particularly so after it got a few buffs in 1.07. That said, it is still three-way split damage. While the total AR is high, your attacks have to go through three different defenses and this lowers its overall efficiency. For this reason, I do not like it. When making this build, I looked at these options. I decided to go against them because of two reasons: 1. These weapons require 12 Strength to wield with one hand. I would have needed to put 4 more levels into Strength to use them, and that means sacrificing either HP or FP for it. I do not think that this is worthwhile. 2. Using SoNaF or Flame Art Claymen's have one thing in common. Three-way split damage (Physical, Fire and Magic). I really do not like this. It means that our attacks have to go through three different defenses and it really lowers our damage. Instead, I decided to go full into the spellcaster aspect of the build. You would rely more heavily on dodge rolls, ashes of war, healing incantations, melee weapons and poise to avoid dying rather than having a ton of health. In order to have the most effective and survivable build with the best spells and incantations at that level, your stats would look something like this. Vigor- 30 Mind-30 Endurance-45 Strength-8 Dexterity-30 Intelligence-46 Faith-26 Arcane-15 I also recommend the golden order seal. The staff is more up to preference. You're welcome.

I ran your build through a few calculations. I am afraid that I do not like it. There are a few flaws that really lower its damage potential, while also generating an extreme amount of unnecessary risk. First, the Vigor. At Level 30, with Erdtree Favor +2 and Crimson Amber +2, you would have 1116 HP. Even with Full Bull-Goat and Dragoncrest Greatshield (50% Physical Reduction), there are some attacks that have the potential of one-shotting you, with many of them that can combo and kill you in two hits. This amount of health is simply not enough. With 60 Vigor, you not only don't have this issue, but you can also wear whatever armor you want. Fashion over Stats, every single time. Second, your INT/FTH. With this combination of Intelligence and Faith, your Sorcery and Incantation Scaling will be criminally low. The damage that you would deal with Sorceries and Incantations would be laughable and not worth the FP investment that they would require. We are talking about 254 Sorcery Scaling and 288 Incantation Scaling. With my set-up, you would get 285 Sorcery Scaling and 345 Incantation Scaling. That is 10% more Sorcery damage, and 20% more Incantations damage. Not to mention that additional Incantations that you unlock by meeting requirements. Third, your Dexterity. I am not sure why you are running 30 DEX. What weapon or infusion do you plan to use? This amount of DEX barely makes it past the first Soft Cap and it is still far from the Second one, which would be the ideal one to reach. Taking into consideration the different Affinity paths for weapons, you would not get a lot of scaling for your melee damage. In regards to your Mind and Arcane, I believe these are at good levels in order to get a good amount of FP, and get access to Dragon Communion Incantations. Although, I will say this again, they might be lacking in damage due to the spread of your Caster Stats. All in all, I believe that there is very little focus on your Stats Block. They are too spread out, generating no specialization and causing damage loss. Furthermore, your insistence on prioritizing high-protection armor over HP is very risky. Having more HP is more valuable than having more Armor. 60 Vigor is more important than 50% Physical Damage Absorption. And this is mathematically observable. I appreciate your showing me your set-up. Unfortunately, it does not fit my playstyle. There is too much risk factor for very little reward. At RL 150, I believe that we can reach more specialization in order to optimize damage and minimize risk. Of course, do not take my criticism personally. Please continue using what is the most fun for you.

@@FrownyGaming Obviously having more stats in Faith and Intelligence will result in more damage.. And you won't get killed in one shot if you learn how to avoid getting hit. The heavier armor increases poise, which helps you get your cast off in situations where you usually wouldn't. The dexterity increases your cast time and melee speed/damage. The damage delt with the stats I presented is more than enough to kill any boss or fellow player. You will have just enough faith, Intelligence, and arcane to use a full roster of spells and incantations that are effective in pvp and pve such as carian sorcery spells, stars of ruin, magic glintblade, Lorettas great bow, meteorite, dragon incantations, ancient dragon lightning strike, lightning spear, and many more. A lot of those higher level spells aren't necessary to be effective, especially if you use ancient dragon lightning strike. I haven't even begun to cover wondrous physick, talismans, specific armor, or the fact that you can carry 3 weapons in your main hand along with 3 in your off hand to have a larger toolbox. I firmly stand by prioritizing endurance over vigor. I'm on new game plus 4 at level 299, and my approach has allowed me to dominate this game with ease after reaching level 150. At level 299 I still only have 35 vigor and I'm basically a God. I can beat almost any boss in only a couple tries, so 35 vigor seems to be sufficient.

You are not the first one to make this kind of comment. Builds have been a part of the Souls games from the beginning. Every player has the choice between leveling up one character really high and having it do everything, or having a few different characters that stick to a specific level for builds. Farming can be boring. Instead, we can play the game multiple times on multiple characters and have different builds to switch between. This helps stay at a specific Rune Level for things like Co-Op or Invasions. Even you do not intend to participate in any kind of multiplayer, starting new characters and playing through the game using different strategies sounds a lot more fun than just killing the same Albinaurics over at Mohg's over and over again. In fact, I believe that you get more mileage from doing different things with different builds rather than repeating the same few steps over and over again for a handful of runes. In any case, let's see... Sure. You can run Commoner's Garb and Rennala's Crown. You get a total of 4 skill points... and you will also look like a clown. If you like to wear clown suits, then go on, but I can't do it. Fashion over Stats, every single time. Sword of Night and Flame has three-way split damage and I am not a fan of that, but it is definitely a contender for a possible weapon choice. Specially after the 1.07 buff. Now, at V1.07, they are a good choice if you like them. There are not for me, though. As for the Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman, I made it very clear that this is a PVE build. If you are going into PvP, obviously switch it out. The same for Co-Op. I focused the build for solo play, where it has a lot of use. I believe this covers all of your complaints. The build is not bad. You may not like it... and that's perfectly fine, but just because you don't like something, it does not make it bad. The build actually performs very well. Always remember to use what you like and what you prefer. Does not matter if it's the best or not. The most important thing in Souls games is to be comfortable with your build and like how you look. It is OK to min-max everything and it is also OK to not do so. There is no right answer. Most importantly, do not insult others. This build won't be fun until there is a dedicated seal/staff for all golden order incantations/hex magic. This whole flipping through spells and back and forth between staff and seal is BS. DS3 had dedicated chimes and staffs for this stuff.

It definitely is a build that forces a bit more skill when it comes to cycling, but it is all soft-swaps. It's the first time that I made a build like this and getting the muscle memory for the swaps didn't take too long. While I agree that Elden Ring should have some true hybrid catalysts, I don't think that their nonexistence ruins the build. Thank you for your comment.

I don't understand a few things: Why go for that stat spread when you could easily go for this one: 59/23/18/10/12/48/50/9 Have the Sword of Night and flame (SoNaF) which seems like the natural candidate for this build. 18 end allows you to min-max poise at 61 with veterans, whilst having great defenses, whereas this build barely has 10 poise. I agree with the seals and stuff, but I would obviously go dual-wield SoNaF. Switch to seal when needed. As for the staff, I would take 5 mins to learn to hard swap. Almost as fast as soft swapping but saves you a few levels to invest in mind. Talismans would be different in order of priority Erdtree +2, Crimson (PvP) or Dragon Greatsheild (PvE), Radagon Icon (optional), and any other optional one, for example, Ritual Shield for a further def 30% increase with a regen buff. Note: If you feel that you have low mind go 45 int and get a talisman which increases int by 5, and go up to 28 mind. Play along with it. Alright, so I loaded up your build and checked it out. My dear viewer, this is some serious clown suit build you created. Do not be offended, this is a Monster Hunter Reference and not an insult. But I need my builds to look good before being good. Haima Crown with Veteran's and Gold Bracelets? That does not pass my check. Like I said, this is not a shot at you or your build. I respect your stat-driven min-maxing, but I follow a different philosophy. I min-max for fun, meaning that I try to make the best build possible while following a theme and using good looking fashion. I even give them little RP backstories. It just makes the game more fun for me. In all honesty, on paper, this is some really good shit. Like, top tier potential. The only thing I would change is to get STR to 14 so that I can run the Banished Knight Halberd. Those pokes dominate PvP. But this video is about a PvE build, where Poise is not as important and reaching this level of detailed min-maxing is not necessary. How can I be the Elden Lord if I do not LOOK like the Elden Lord? @@FrownyGaming Totally understandable mate. I was more of a fashion guy myself unfortunately due to how important poise is in this game and how OP the veteran's armour was I started using that. But the good news is the new patch balanced poise/weight ratio across the board so this actually gives min-max fashion choice as well as being meta! Best of both worlds! Really pumped up for the DLC.
