These cases look great, but I HIGHLY recommend putting the 1x2 foot plates on the studs. Some of my older minifigures have cracked heels just from being on studs, but thankfully it's mostly just the OG Zane figure, which I have a ton of. Considering how insane this collection is, I'm sure there are a lot of older/rarer figures that you wouldn't want to see get damaged. I always thought people were overreacting to the issue before seeing it in my own collection, so I really think it's worth the time and money. A small investment on the needed parts now can prevent some potentially expensive disasters in the future.
@zerokool-20585 ай бұрын
Do you mean that if I buy this case and put my Ironman Silver Centurion minifig in it. It will mess the legs of the minifig up??
@ARDIZsq5 ай бұрын
@@zerokool-2058 That depends on the figure and the way you display it. Many older LEGO figures, let's say 10+ years, can experience what are known as heel cracks. This is basically a crack forming going from the bottom of the foot to the first stud hole on the back of the leg, or the "heel" of the minifigure. Certain older colors like Reddish Brown and Dark Red were notoriously brittle, so any older figures in those colors should be displayed with caution. Other figures can experience cracking as well, for example I've had some of the OG Ninjago figures develop cracks. The best way to avoid this while still displaying the minifigure is to use a 1x2 foot plate, part 93095. This piece is basically a tile with a back stop and a center divider that holds the minifigure in similar to the motorcycle pieces and the like. So no, buying and using this case specifically isn't what can cause cracking, just improper care of your more precious minifigures. I say if you like the case, buy it, but maybe make a PAB or Bricklink order for some foot plates if you don't already own some, especially if you plan on displaying higher rarity minifigures. :)

Official Lego studs or not, I have plenty of cracked heels. I have over a thousand minifigs and at least 20 of them have cracked while on display. I've now converted at least the top 200 of my most valuable ones to be displayed on 1x2 panel with middle dividers. I hope case makers will have them as an option instead of regular studs.

How do you dust this room?! 😮 The cases look really nice. And you could place the 18971 panel as foot plate on the studs to prevent cracks. There still is enough headspace left, as I can see.
@mrsilly61556 ай бұрын
Dusting is the number one topic I would love to see a video on. AFOLs usually talk about using make-up brushes and mini vacuums to clean their Lego cities but the Duck Bricks basement is on a whole other level 🤯 Maybe he has a powerful air extraction system going on that keeps the dust off. Or maybe he hires an army of cleaners. Or maybe it's all just really dusty all of the time but it doesn't show on camera 😂😂

I'm still looking around at minifigure frame options. I'm particular about the size of them and depth. I don't have a lot of figures yet, but CMF is 2 figures away from my first full set of 12.

Love the content and the passion you continue to put out there! Such a light in the LEGO community. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on these cases! We have one of these in our home...and while it is beautiful; there is also a bit of fragility to them! Sadly we had one 'collapse' while hanging on the wall and break a pretty valuable fig. So while it is a beautiful case, we are hesitant to put valuable figs in them again. It's still a good case!

Is that quarter inch acrylic? Also when I make my cases, I prefer to use clear back plates. Black looks nice but I like to be able to see my wall color. If the lighting is good, the shadows aren’t bad. 7:40 I also make my cases accessible to 3x4 plates so I can add ghost minifigures and stuff like that. There’s many advantages to custom making them over buying online, and I even find that it’s cheaper through online laser cutting services.

Those are very nice cases, a lot of the laser cut ones look pretty crappy, but I think you need something else, like glass, something that could be used in the future in a Lego museum! And it would be waaay expensive to house all your minifigs, you've already spend like $450 on those cases, money that could be better used on buying more Lego!

As awesome as these look, they don’t look that efficient space-wise compared to your existing system. Keeping them covered so that they don’t attract dust is a clear advantage though. If you want to replace everything with these cases you’d probably have to sacrifice some of the bits of artwork along the stairs.

Pls consider to go back to your previous configuration. You could consider it when you have the bigger space for you museum. But in the end of course it is your decision. Thank you for your content. I’m enjoying it very much.
