The power limit on these seems to be the main issue. I would say that undervolting is likely the way forward with these 1st party cards, similar to how my MSI 3080 is hard locked to 330W max, when other ones have a higher limit. If I want the most performance out my 330W, I change the voltage curve in MSI Afterburner in order to clock up to ~1900-2000MHz. Simply adding more to the GPU slider, and pumping up voltage increases heat, and gives me lower clocks. I think if these cards can be made to work with Afterburner, and have editable voltage curves, this should be what you all test next.

We need to remember that Intel's only real toe-dip into dedicated graphics was 1999 when they released the i752... and that thing sucked, and it didn't natively support overclocking!! For them to try again over 20 years later and for it to *not* totally suck is a refreshing change for Intel. That right there, is a pat on the back moment... and I hope that the ARC iGP is as impressive as the ARC DGPs could potentially become once they iron out the worst of the bugs and get familiar with the architecture.

My personal experience with cards in this range is that you have better uplift from an undervolt paired with an overclock to the desired speeds, then once you have the speed you want and it's stable then dial in the memory clock to use up whatever head room is left. So for my EVGA 3060TI XC it comes out to like 925mv/2.0mhz/7.75mhz and that nets me about the same as I'd get with an unlimited overclock to 2.15-2.2 without all that wasted power and resulting heat and tends to just be more stable in general for a difference of maybe 1-2 FPS. Edit: Head room probably isn't the right way to put it because usually when you say that you're thinking power or thermals, but at 925mv you'll never hit a thermal limit - and you're imposing the power limit, so it's more of okay this is completely stable, so start weaking the memory until you see stability issues then dial back a little.

Were you considering doing a test of the AV1 encoding capabilities? I saw that even the A380 was impressive with it, would be interesting to see how the 750 and 770 perform.

I mean TBH most of the time overclocking is pointless anyway. The biggest impact overclocking makes is on benchmarks, odds are (if the card is stock tuned correctly with proper drivers) almost no one would notice a difference in performance for most tasks. I'd take mature/stable drivers over overclocking any day. Let it work properly at the level, then worry about turning up binned samples.
@KolnFriedChicken2 жыл бұрын
Besides that GPU OC isn't really hugely beneficial, it's sad that there ain't an option for undervolting, because that's how you silence your card how you effectively cut costs and also most of the time you're able to UV and OC a card at the same time without even regarding the power limit.

I haven't messed with overclocking since my old Phenom II X6 1055T (which was a legend). Honestly, the amount of guesswork here seems pretty in-line with what I was doing in BIOS back then. Y'all just got spoiled with MSI Afterburner, lol.

They have the outline for a lot of great things, they just need to focus on the execution. And fan control. Focus on giving the user fan control. I feel like custom BIOS is gonna be really powerful on this first run of Intel cards

so no fan controls, no undervolting no memory clocks, no memory voltage. Thats kind of sad that so many features are missing. And I'm little confused why lowering the core voltage chages the clock speed, usually that souldn"t influece the frequency. If the voltage is to low for the chosen clockspeed it crashes, but it looks like thats not the case here. Even if negative voltage offsets would be posssible this mechanic would make undervolting not viable, since the clocks drop as well if I understand that correctly.

@DigBipper1882 жыл бұрын
@@spankbuda7466 Depends... Maybe if Intel's GPUs can start taking some of the market from AMD and NVidia they might see prominent AIBs make boards for them... They do currently have a couple of lesser known Chinese AIBs making cards, such as Gunnir making the A300 series boards... And you never know - If they're able to cut a deal they can't refuse, EVGA could end up making XC and K|NGP|N edition ARC :) It all depends on how intel treats its existing board partner(s), how the technology matures and how well recieved their GPUs end up being after their software matures and the core goes through another generation.

Your OC settings are way too conservative. The 'Performance Slider' basically functions as an undervolt, and the Voltage setting moves the fMax up the V/F curve. The A770 is obviously different, but on the A380 an OC of 30 Perf / +100mV is a pretty strong setting.

That gpu performance boost slider seems to be like an untervolting tuner. Except I don't see where you can drop the mV below it's base voltage. I guess it would behave like an undervolt if you drop the wattage limit down while turning the gpu boost slider up? Is there an option to negative offset the voltage? I wish I had one of these to tinker with but I don't really need a new gpu right now.

I believe my cpu is on its deathbed. It’s running at 100% as soon as I start the pc. It starting to get extremely hot during idle or gameplay. It’s get around 165 -175 F. I’m planning on getting a new system with an Intel I7-7700k but I want to start streaming as well. I don’t want to run my 1070Ti into the ground with what I want to do.
