I personally found the Hazard Blocked sound confusing too. Having the little bit of rocks falling at the end makes it sound like there was a background drone and a hazard increase. I think it would be much more clear if the sound instead included the sound of something being secured. Like the sound of a drill or of some wood boarding up something. As it stands blocking hazard sounds like a more ominous version of hazard increased (which sounds more like ambient cave noises). I found hazard increase understandable and thematic once I learned it though.

For the hazard activated / blocked sounds, it would be more intuitive to have the cave-in sound first, followed by the sound that differentiates between an activation vs block. Having the cave-in sound play for both and at the end makes it less likely the player will recognize the sound right away and they may miss the meaning. The cave-in sound first establishes that a hazard triggered, and then the following sound establishes the result.

The shulker box return has to be an instant dropper line when the player dies in the dungeon or they are just waiting for too long for the shulker box to return to the surface. It's a lot of work but I think it's necessary
@katiemiller83138 ай бұрын
My opinion on this is that the players already have to wait 5 minutes for things to despawn (including their dead bits). If their deck is back instantly vs after a minute or two, the 5-minute wait isn't going to change.
@h.16998 ай бұрын
it's not the shulkerbox's travel time that's responsible for the long wait. it's unloading all the cards and repackaging the deck and only after that the box can start traveling back.

An Idea for the shulker box of cards and acquired crowns to return to the player. What if you added like 3-5 redstone lamps above the "Be Patient" sign. You could use an observer with string to send a signal from various parts of the water stream when the items pass that observer to those redstone lamps to the respawn room, just to inform the player how far away their deck of cards are when it's on the move. It's better than just some unknown amount of time to wait, if they can see it visually represented through a redstone lamps maybe that will put their minds at ease knowing how far away their stuff is coming down the water stream.

Tango, I know you're not really thinking about balance issues yet, but it seems that in all of your runs, clank block goes up way faster than clank. Clank block only ran out on that last run because a single shrieker got triggered 6 times in quick succession, while a more experienced player would hear the first tiptoe and start sneaking to avoid more clank building up. In fact you didn't sneak at all that run. So a mid tier deck like that with mostly common cards could have gotten a careful player to the end of level 2 and back without ever raising the level of clank. I think it's a good idea to have lots of cards that block clank, but to a cautious player it's just too slow in rising, and they get a lot of time, even with a weaker deck. I think there should be a higher chance of clank spots being active so players are more likely to get detected while running away from ravagers.

The crown conversion should become more expensive and more profitable as you increase difficulty. As it is right now there isn't much purpose to the conversion system. It should be something like: Easy: 5 coins = 1 crown Medium 8 coins = 2 crowns Hard 15 coins = 4 crowns Deadly 18 coins = 5 crowns This way as the difficulty goes up, you are rewarded with more crowns but more difficult to collect the conversion amount.
@h.16998 ай бұрын
that system would discourage from using the crowns shop. or strongly encourage higher frequency easier (likely medium difficulty) runs with endgame decks to get crowns. you can get crowns from treasure drops and you can get 1 for every 5 coins now. if you have to find 15+ coins to get ANY crowns from converting them, people will ignore the coins as single coin drops wouldn't be worth anything anymore. as it is now you see a coin, you try to grab it. but with your system you'd need 15+ actual coin drops (a coin being a chance when treasure is dropped, which is a chance per location when treasure is triggered) for higher difficulty before they have any worth.
@imp968 ай бұрын
@@h.1699 The longer you spend in the dungeon the more coins you are expected to get. You can see from the medium runs that getting ~10 coins isn't difficult. Lets say you do a deadly run and finish with 17 coins, now you have a big incentive to risk looking for one more coin to get 5 crowns whereas on easy you would have gotten only 3 crowns. With my proposal you have a clear tradeoff, higher difficulty, higher reward but more risk. It seems like keys will not be so abundant this season so farming on easy is not an option.

For the hazard increase + hazard block audio - I think the sounds themselves are great in isolation, its just that in the actual playthrough they get lost in the rest of it. The hazard block -waaahhm- gets lost in the drone, and the -crumbling- for hazard increase is fairly "soft" and non-peaky compared to the -dings- etc of other effects. It sounds like part of the background flavour, rather than a game effect. I think the hazard sound itself just needs a bit more of a striking sound ala ice cracking rather than just the rock falling to raise it above the rest of the audio bed. The waaahhm is a bit more difficult, maybe more of a -sheeeen- sorta sound like a sword being unholstered? Not sure.

Agree, what if the gong was at the end of the sound? Maybe easier to recognize hazard is being blocked if it starts crumbling and then turns to gong sound

It is a crazy complex project Tango, i really appreciate the amount of work you put in. It is getting really close, i love it!

2:22:07 You can have a "buffer" of crowns in the starting area and send a redstone pulse for every crown you count in the killing area to dispense them to the player. The crowns in the killing area can then travel to the buffer while the game is resetting to keep it fully stocked.

For the hazard/hazard block sounds, another option may to be making the block sound more like metal settling/ship sinking noises (that's what the gong/_whuuurnnng_ sounds like to me already) than a crumbling sound. This way, it'll still have that disconcerting "stuff's shifting" effect, but will sound more like settling (which could be okay) than a cave-in (which would be bad, and would continue to be the hazard noise). You know the Hermits are in a realm of their own. Tango ignored a diamond ore that was right next to him. I've seen people ignoring iron, coal, sometimes redstone or gold, but diamond is a new one.

With regards to the Black Market: I think it would be extremely frustrating for players to make it to the Market, buy rare items, and then lose them because a fluke or bad luck caused them to die after they bought them. I suggest that making it TO the Black Market should be enough of a challenge that a fair reward is being allowed to buy items and know that you will receive them at the end, now matter how your run ends.

I know it's too late for this but I remember someone suggesting way back at the start of decked out 2 that coins/crowns should be green to make them more distinct from the currency in like every other video game ever since it really worked well with the emeralds in decked out 1, and I just wanna throw that out for like anyone who makes custom textures that if when the world download comes out if you have a free moment to recolor them I would love you forever

Dunno if this gets talked about again later on in the video (im at 37:10) but i really dont think hazard block should have the crumbling sound in it - especially at the end of the soundfile - due to mainly 2 reasons: 1.) For example: imagine Hazard being blocked and right after hazard is being generated (maybe by a card). it would be nearly impossible to tell, what crumble got 'denied' beforhand by the hazard block signature, and what not. If u want to leave the crumble in, i think it is important to make clear somehow while or after its crumbling, that this is not hazard, but it got blocked. But i rather think it will be way easier for players to follow along with the sounds, if the sound is more distinguishing. I get the idea, that u want to have these sounds kinda simmilar, so people know they are somewhat connected. But like with the clank people will be able to tell which sounds means what with the help of the map after some time. making the sounds simmilar makes that actually way harder i think. 2.) Also: when playing the game u will have to focus on so much more than just sound, so it will be really easy to miss differences, even if they are not subtle, while playing. Sure, down at the sound box, playing just the two different sounds, they are easy to tell apart (Especially for you, right after your sound designer). But for other hermits, running away from ravegers in the dungeon, while other sounds playing? not so much im sure, even with different sound-leveling / mastering -whatever its called. Hope i made my point clear and understandable :D Now im gonna enjoy the rest of the video :) Love this project, cheers.

Oh and i forgot: in my head, if there is no hazard happening, the crumbling sound itself, that represents the hazard happening (a wall getting closed of etc) just makes no sense i guess.
@MjDiabolo8 ай бұрын
@@Dennis23_12 That is true for the sound that is supposed to distinguish it from 'hazard happening', but thats already talked about in the video with a hint at upcoming remastering. But to make myself clear, what i am talking about is even if that distinguishing sound would stand out a lot, the crumble itself, especially afterwards, is a problem in my eyes. or ears i guess :D

I think it'd be cool if the hazard sound itself was water freezing or something freezing over. It'd be like the dungeon is locking itself down as the run goes on. Maybe the hazard blocked sound can be ice being shaved.

Would it make sense to drop the map right when they put their deck in? That way they can see their deck is fully loaded on the map before heading down in the minecart.

Hazard block should start with a crumbling and end with a wooooomb. Like the womb stopped the crumbling

I don't know how you have the patients for this - I wonder how many you have inspired to come up with their own version of Deck Out. One question would you ever do a third.
