I think like many committed rock/indie/punk fans of the early 90's it was the Prodigy who finally made me stop trying to ignore the dance music culture of the time, and alas turned me into a clubber/raver who embraced it all, God love em, their music still gets my adrenalin pumping, was lucky enough to see them live several times and they never disappoint, incredible!

I've always said that The Prodigy were a dance band with metal energy, they were regularly played in the Glasgow Cathouse

The law in question was the 1994 Criminal Justice and Public Order Act which banned unlicenced gatherings of more than a dozen people, the use of empty buildings or spaces for playing loud music etc. It was the law against short notice and amateur raves, basically. Thereafter if you wanted that kind of experience you had to go to one of the big permanent clubs with its own building and zoning approval etc, or one of the annual music festivals which became much more numerous since. The music got corporatized. A typical example of Conservative party joykilling authoritarianism.

I’ve seen prodigy three times in total even as my favourite music styles have changed they have still remained relevant. Be it Dance in my Tweens, punk in my later 20’s or rock music now Prodigy are still one of the best in the field because their music manages to uniquely fit so many genres.
@magregory19853 жыл бұрын
Absolutely spot on their music just fits so much, be it dance, punk and rock it's on its own in uniqueness. Still listen to their old stuff and new stuff to get me pumped

I've seen them 7 times - the first time in 1999 (their last gig of the 90s) and the last time in 2018 (their last album tour), and their energy level didn't seem to change much over the course of two decades. And yes, you'll rarely see a more diverse audience - from punks and metalheads to reggae and hip-hop fans.
