I'm waiting for the day when someone in robotics can make a BOB that's like a human that hits back and reacts when struck. I'll probably be waiting a long time and if it happens it will probably be unrealistically expensive.

I started training krav maga about 4 months back ... Here we cannot train due to rise in covid cases and I wanted to find ways I could train myself at home. I like that you can train aggression although I don't have a dummy yet, could definitely spar in the air!

I don't have a Bob. A Bob is no doubt a very helpful training tool but sadly it doesnt double over when you say strike the solar plexus or to groin area. The somatic reflex reaction is all important as it opens him up for follow up strikes. The enemy won't be just standing there in front of you like a statue as the Bob does so therefore this type of training is extremely unrealistic.

It's really not that unrealistic as soon as you see them bent over just go in for more strikes. If you are learning Krav Maga then obviously you already know.

@@spookytaco666 I can't wait for the day when I can get a robot training Bob that simulates/models all the somatic reflex reactions to strikes. For example, if you kick or strike with your hand to groin area he will keel over not just stand there motionless like a statue.

This is simply good practice for placing strikes and counterstrikes, and adding some resistance helps develop a lightning-fast first counterstrike. This is not a simulation of a fight partner. Bob also helps me place my strikes more accurately, so in that sense, it is a very useful practice aid.
