Despite the difficulty of the song, I really wanted to challenge myself with this. What's even more incredible is how Ken Bedene plays like he is just relaxing at a movie theater or something! I couldn't imagine doing a whole setlist of songs like this lol.

Your style of playing is awesome dude. Relaxed but getting into to the groove. What stick’s are those? They look kinda thin but you’re putting them to work!
@DrumlionMusic2 жыл бұрын
I appreciate this a ton! So with my drumming all of my covers are done in one take, (its just easier that way since I have to record and do everything by myself). By the time I finally got this take done I was WIPED! So I had no choice but to play as relaxed as I could lol. And the sticks Im using are a little thinner than what I normally use (Danny Carey signatures, Vic Firth). The sticks in the video are made by Collision, a UK based company that makes them. They actually sent some to me to try out.

I commented on your Mgla react just now, then started deep diving your channel. You're doing a lot of the same things that Darkside does. You've got a really solid economy of motion yourself... Even those tom hits going into the bridge early on. You kept all super clean and saved that energy for as the song progressed. If you want another one to check out, my dear friend Paul drums for IATT out of Philadelphia/Jersey, and did a playthrough of one of their newer songs: kzbin.info/www/bejne/b53ZiHiof9hkiKM It's another great study in using rebound to your advantage and not wasting shoulder/back/thigh movement, and there's a really, REALLY fun syncopated part in it.
@DrumlionMusic2 жыл бұрын
i appreciate this! i love getting comments like these because as a viewer you're able to show me a retrospective look about something i may or may not be aware of with my playing. so i thank you for this. and i will definitely be checking out this recommendation of yours. you definitely got me interested for sure

@@DrumlionMusic hey, it's all love, brother... i see things i think you'l dig, and i share them. you do swivel your feet a little though, and you should save that for when you're REALLY pushing. Put those ankle weights to work! lol But I''m just a bassist, feel free to ignore me! 🤣 I can barely play When the Levee Breaks.
@DrumlionMusic2 жыл бұрын
@@pentatonicminor so interesting enough, the swivel that is there for me isn't something i do consciously. i think my feet are just trying to get the motion through as i try to stay relaxed.
@pentatonicminor2 жыл бұрын
@@DrumlionMusic yeah, if its just naturally swinging your feet a little, i wouldn't sweat it. I know guys who use it as a bit of a coping mechanism to go faster when its not fast enough to go heel/toe with the extra bounce. I'm me. I'm guys.
