IBKR Desktop - Introduction to Charts

Is there a "chart trader" equivalent for IBKR Desktop, where I can trade directly on the activated chart via hotkeys? In addition, is there a way to set up multiple charts across multiple monitors?

Great new platfrom. Is there a way to write indicators yourself? Is there a way to access TV's pine editor?

can yall add the option to show the the P/L next to the amount of shares u have on the blue label on the average share price line in the charts like on trading view would help alot being able to have all that info available in one area when trading, love the new platform and this would make it perfect

1. As a day trader i need to have multiple charts across multiple monitors, when do you guys think that it will be implemented? Yes the IBKR Desktop feels faster than TWS , but i can't move from TWS if i can't work on multiple monitors, and for sure i'm not to only one in this situation!!! 2. Can we have more variants for the selection of interval time in the chart? I use daily the interval of 3 minute and also 10 seconds, but i don't find this selection on IBKR Desktop, on the seconds level we have only 30 seconds interval available!

Hi, How do I i) see the price & number of position on the chart once order is executed?; ii) flatten all my positions and orders?

Hello Corgi, thank you for your questions. Please review our answers below. i) This is rolling out shortly, but we do not have an ETA currently. ii) Unfortunately, there’s no function to close all positions at once as in TWS. We have passed this suggestion along to the appropriate team.

@@interactivebrokers thank you for response. I have tested the new desktop version. Beside the mentioned points, u may also wish to consider allowing i) changing of Stop loss/ profit target to manage on the chart trader. Right now, I have to manually key in the values even when I have move the SL/ TP in chart trader. It is not efficient for futures trader to be keying in values as we deal with high digit trade value; ii) allow for default Strategy configured SL/ TP to be preset. U have that in ur old TWS so u may wish to allow for that in new version. For trade execution, I prefer to do it via IBKR rather than trading view but ur current interface is not user friendly or conducive, especially for intra day traders

I've started using it today, however I can't figure out how to quickly switch the symbol for a chart without having to add it to my Favorites. If this is true, that's too many steps only to look at charts of different stocks. Literally in every other platform this is easy, u just click the current symbol and start typing, or most of the time just have the chart selected and start typing a symbol, why isn't this the case with IBK Desktop?

Hello Timothy, thank you for commenting. It is possible to view charts with different symbols in the same window. Please review this page from our user guide for IBKR Desktop, particularly the second section: www.ibkrguides.com/ibkr-desktop/charts/chart-multi.htm You have to select the chart you want to change and then type the symbol in the search bar to change it. @@interactivebrokers Ok thanks, I finally found the search bar, it's all the way at the top in the top bar, and your solution is working. I didn't expect it there. One improvement I still have is after typing a symbol & pressing Enter, I have to use my mouse to select the stock from the drop down. The up/down cursor oddly doesn't work for that. However, left/right does, but that doesn't help me, so I still have to use my mouse. As daytraders speed can be important.

Hello Pavoda, thank you for your question. When you click on the Plus sign, select Buy or Sell, this creates the order line and populates the order details in the Rapid Order Entry (to the right of the screenshot) with necessary information. This is where you will need to click Submit to send the order to the exchange/market. Additionally, when you create an order on chart, you can see the limit price you are submitting the order. We hope this helps!

@@interactivebrokers Hello, sorry no this not helps me. i mean something called in old BB trader "position indicator". it's the line on the chart that shows me what price I entered the market at...this new IBKR doesn't have it and I miss it very much.

Hello, thank you for asking. We have a podcast series in Spanish (IBKR Podcasts Español), which is available on IBKR Campus in case you are interested. Additionally, for the video lessons, if you go to the Settings for the video (cogwheel), then subtitles, you can change the language. You may have to select English first, then go back to the same setting and there should now be the option for auto-translate in a variety of languages. We hope this helps!

When orders have been places on the charts it is impossible tomove them with the mouse without having to manually input the order in the panel. Waste of time.

@@interactivebrokers Unfortunately it works on my Macbook pro only for limit orders and it does not work for stop ones. I really don't understand why. On the old version of tws it works well. I mean moving the lines.

Don't understand guys, it's not possible to add layouts, can't see my option chain at the same time than chart, 20 studies max? Every single serious trader has many screens how do we deal with this ? Desktop is SIMPLY USELESS for any pro trader. Don't understand how a so big organization has this kind of interfaces, the stone age TWS and now this minimalist Desktop, very, very disappointed. Will continue to pay DAS, a serious software.

i think i will try the Das trader to, because the TWS is so old and slow, and this IBKR Desktop has a lots of things that are missing!

@@interactivebrokers No charts are displayed, reinstall does not solve the issue .No news feed, every time I closed the app and start it back up the paper trade account is restarted so you lost everything you have in play etc...

This app is dogwater. Lag, crash, lag, crash. And you can't sort columns by clicking? WTF is that about? People trash Webull for its ownership and PFOF but it's a slick and stable experience compared to this.
