Der Studienschwerpunkt Interaktive Medien hat zur Aufgabe die Studierenden der Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg sowie des Animationsinstitutes auf die Arbeit in einer zunehmend konvergierenden Medienlandschaft vorzubereiten. Um die Entwicklung und Produktion transmedialer Projekte in interdisziplinären Teams an der Akademie zu ermöglichen, werden eigens Studierende in den interaktiven Disziplinen Design, Gestaltung und Produktion von Games, mobile Applikationen, Social Media sowie Medieninstallationen ausgebildet.
Studierende der Interaktiven Medien können zwischen drei Vertiefungen wählen: Transmedia/Games Director (künstlerische Konzeption und Leitung), Transmedia/Games Artist (audiovisuelle Konzeption und
Durchführung) sowie Transmedia/Games Producer (medienarchitektonische Konzeption und Produktion).

Interactive Media
Though once independent from each other, more and more media platforms and markets continue to converge due to digitization. Movies and television, IT and entertainment electronics, telecommunication, games, social media, exhibitions and events are in the process of merging and old value-added chains dissolve increasingly. New players, new profit models and new formats emerge. Content is no longer created for just one single media platform. Creative minds for multimedia-based development of content as well as producers for cross platform production and marketing are therefore increasingly in demand.
The graduate program Interactive Media is designed to train Transmedia/Games Directors, Transmedia/Games Artists and Transmedia/Games Producers. The students acquire one interactive discipline like Game Design, Mobile Content Development, Community Architecture or Design of Media + Space. Furthermore they develop and produce transmedia content and innovative formats, working in teams across departments and in collaboration with other universities.
