Hey, can anyone help me out pls...? basically One day I was at a store and decided that I needed a retro handheld device but after I spent a couple days researching which one I should buy I stumbled across this thing called "Razer Kishi" and basically that thing just connects to your phone and you can play all the games on your phone like a handheld device, since it costs as much as the retro devices themselves I figured that my phone can run any games I can ever wish. Is there any reason to get a retro handheld?

Hi, I know I'm late, but the games are NOT free; you can get them for free, but it is completely illegal. Your ISP can cut out your internet service for downloading these games illegally, and they will force you to pay a fine to have it turned back on. Law enforcement can also get involved, but this does practically never happen as they have better things to be doing.
@conaldeugenepeterson21472 жыл бұрын
It is certainly illegal to *share* copies of and copyrighted ROM. However using an emulator definitely is not illegal. No one’s been sued or arrested for playing or owning ROMs; only for distributing them.
@GreenIcing12 жыл бұрын
@@conaldeugenepeterson2147 You are correct; using an emulator to play roms that have been obtained in legitimate ways is perfectly fine and legal. However, the OP was saying that ‘all the games are free’, which is was I was talking about in my reply, as that would be piracy. I've found myself wanting to play older titles, but smartphone emulation just wasn't cutting it for me. It just doesn't feel right tapping a flat screen to press buttons haha. And my actual GBA systems felt pretty limiting and each model had tradeoffs that I didn't like. The SP has backlighting and a rechargeable battery, but no headphone jack. And the original model has a headphone jack, but no rechargeable battery and no backlight! So I discovered alot of emulation handhelds and was pretty lost trying to figure out which ones were good quality. Thankfully this video exists! Both detailed and informative. Thank you very much!

They're tons of emulator that you can download and try for yourself. Your phone is more can capable of running those games and it performs better than most of the dedicated handhelds here. It's a very low entry cost to this hobby and you might be more satisfied with it than purchasing a standalone handheld console.

Yep, I like the short travel and positive tactile feedback (clickiness) of the RP2 buttons. The long throw and mushy feedback of the RG351P buttons isn’t as natural for me; feels like they take more effort to activate, and my timing is slightly off. That said, I can adapt to either style after a few minutes, and I haven’t used either long enough to judge comfort during extended play. Short version: no, you’re not going crazy! 😂

With most products here being similar, I've found the screen resolution and UI to be the biggest factors. 480P is a huge jump from 320P, and emuelec/emulation station make it plug and play with minimal setup. Second to that is controls and hardware quality. I went from 351P>RP2>351V>Nvidia shield portable> just bought a RGB10 Max. One thing to mention about screens- you can change the aspect ratio on most/all of these devices to fill the screen, but your games will appear slightly stretched. I personally cannot tell a difference, but some hate it.

Thank you SO much for this. Very to the point, summarized, with highlights of what they are. Been wanting a device like these for ages and I didn't even know PS1/N64/PSP could be emulated (I’m still stuck thinking GBA is too powerful in my mind and that only android has been able to do it because it has the required specs for it) but seeing that even Android games can be emulated in some of these, it’s mindblowing! Thank you for this! Seriously!

I just bought a few game controllers from Aliexpress, all of them had to be refunded and the stores disappeared within days, so I appreciate your advice early on, otherwise I would have ordered more expensive items.

Quality review. Really helped me understand what they’re all about, and narrowed my decision on what to buy. Thank you.

My first and only retro console is Retroid Pocket 2. The thing i like is that everything seems to run smoothly on it. Even Nintendo DS or Dreamcast or Nintendo 64. I love it. I never thought that controllers could be better, but maybe you're right. If I will switch to another system will be a 5 or 7 inch screen, more similar to nintendo switch. I hope to see something in the future.

Really good video. I have an rg351p Nd a retroid pocket 2 and I completely agree with you. I thought the retroid pocket 2 would be my go to after all the early hype but I cant put my rg351p down. All the stuff you have shared re firmware guides etc has made it all very accessible and unthreatening for me and I have mine set up brilliantly now. Thanks for all your hard work and helping me get the best out of my handheld. Thank you!!!

Why am I only just discovering you? Why do KZbin recommendations refuse to actually recommend channels like this? I found you by utter chance after watching Dodo…. I never left the retro market! The amount of copies of mega drive and nes/SNES remakes I have is borderline problematic, and my love for the GBmicro is almost worryingly obsessive. I love the PowKiddy stuff, it often looks like cheap garbage but it’s genuinely brilliant.

351M looks nice . I saw some other thing on aliexpress that looks like it but cost over $1,500

I have an RG351M and the quality of that device is insane. Feels so sturdy and well made and I hear that the cooling is better then the RG351P because the alu-case helps to spread the heat better. Would recommend anyone to buy this cheap highquality device any day (Im happy I payed a little more for the M version, I think it is worth the extra cost the have the premium feel)

I would love to see a premium GBASP-style Anbernic device. Same screen as the 351V and decent battery and I would buy that thing instantaneously.

I have had a Pocketgo S30, RP2, TrimUI Model S, RG351M, RG280V, Powkiddy RGB10 and Q90 and a Bittboy and most recently the RK2020 metal version which has instantly become my new favorite by a margin. The RG280V is my pick up and play and the TrimUI is my "sneaking tony hawk runs at work" device.

man i didnt even know any of these existed, this is awesome. as a 90s kid i was in love with gameboy, after psp , i started getting into android games, now android games as of late have been getting SERIOUSLY good looking, in 2023 theres going to be games with like ps4 graphics coming out left and right, id really like to find a device that can run android and is just meant for gaming, maybe with wifi for youtube excedra, but my poor phone is just always being drained and used up for games , i hardly even answer my phone calls :P i suppose it just means getting another android phone, but i definitely will keep an eye on the portable hand held market, especially cause theres some psp games i definitely want . honestly my perfect device id lie to someday just have the ability to play PC games on a mobile device like with steam link, but i havent really had success yet with it
