For the inductor the state variable is current not voltage. Unfortunately for ckt(d)&(e) if you assign initial conditions it will result in 2nd order network. In fact this is 2nd order network and there be a pole-zero cancellation. In fact, this is not a controllable system, of course, this is very difficult for an Undergrad. For undergrad or competition, exams-it is better to say if you can simplify the network to a single energy element network then it will be a first-order network...
