A couple of notes about this video; Greg Anthony's contract details are from hoopshype.com/, and due to the 1998-1999 NBA lockout, the NBA season didn't begin until early February 1999 and thus, Greg Anthony and Bonzi were acquired in January 1999.

The Portland Trail Blazers in the 90s and 2000s was one of the most interesting nba teams. The 1998-1999 Portland Trail Blazers and the 1999-2000 Portland Trail Blazers advanced to the Western Conference Finals. The 2000-2001 Portland Trail Blazers did not make it that far as they were ousted by the Lakers. Around this time, the Trail Blazers were starting to be known as the Jail Blazers. Key players during this era of blazer basketball include Damon Stoudamire, Isaiah Rider ( or JR Rider but not Isiah Rider ), Brian Grant, Arvydas Sabonis, Scottie Pippen and Stacey Augmon. This 90s NBA video also has highlights of the Portland Trail Blazers. The 2000 western conference finals between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Portland Trail Blazers was a classic series, especially game 7.

Thank you so much for watching this video. I greatly enjoyed watching the 1998-1999 Blazers team but the 1999-2000 Blazers team, is probably better remembered. Man you did it again. Bringing back good memories . I remember watching that Sean Elliot shot live haha. Broke my heart. If Portland would of made that trade for Scottie that would have made a difference. I agree tho that Portland team was one of the deepest ever but the blazers teams from 89 to 91 was absolutely the deepest team I ever saw next to my bad boy pistons. Such a forward-based team my god the size they had. Keep up the work brutha. Your killing it. Your time is coming for much more success.

The Clippers nowadays remind me of these Blazers: a team of stars and vets built through trades that comes up short in the playoffs each year and is also full of either hotheads, dirty players, or players many sports fans hate despite their talent (Morris twins, Patrick Beverly, Paul George)…also what I find interesting is that both teams never really had a leader

Once again, thanks a lot for the comment. To your point about leadership, Pippen could become unhinged when he wasn't with Jordan (those 1.5 years without Jordan with the Bulls, with HOU and with POR). My viewership with sports has been declining since the mid-2000s (I hope to do a video about why) but anyways, Charles Barkley talks about Chris Paul being the best leader but there are some instances where that doesn't seem to be the case with his demanding style. I think your leadership point is a very good point.

You have discussed some players that we have forgotten about. I agree that there was so much talent that went thru Portland during the 90’s but what they lacked was a true leader both on and off the floor

You know what, I never thought about a leader on that team in 98-99. And to be honest, Pippen does not have a good track record of being a leader without Jordan with some controversial situations in '94 and '95 and then when he went to the Rockets for the 97-98 season. Then later on, the Blazers were beginning to be somewhat of a mess with the 2000-2001 season with Pippen being looked upon as a leader. Great comment.

Blazers vs Knicks and Pacers in the finals would have been interesting. 2000 Blazers still could have lost to Indiana

@@90sSportsNostalgia yeah, np, keep bringing us that heat ...somebody made a comment in here that said there was no true leader on that 2000 Blazers team and i agree 100%. It's no way they shoulda that lead in the 4th like that if they had a true leader. I felt JR Rider was the leader and go to guy at times on those 97-99 teams. I felt like that 99-00 team had waaaayyyy too many stars on it with no type of chemistry. It just seemed like they were thrown together and it created a huge mess onwards

This Blazer team should have won a title, but Whitsitt's chemistry experiments failed, and they may have been too immature and devoid of character despite having the best talent in the league by far. After the collapse in 2001, Whitsitt should have been fired, and the rebuilding should have commenced.

You're the first person that I heard an opinion on Bob Whitsitt. I really appreciate your opinion because I think it's so hard to build a contender in the NBA if you don't have certain things go your way. Thus, I really don't have a view (negative or positive) on Whitsitt because he did put together a contending team (with a lot of resources). However, you did mention chemistry issues which can be a problem. Nonetheless, thanks for the comment as I enjoyed reading it.

I liked these Trail Blazer teams but it's hard to rub off that Jail Blazers label. But you said you were waiting for me to do this video, sorry I didn't dive much into the Jail Blazers situation but I hope it was somewhat entertaining. Thank you so much for watching. I appreciate it so much. Ah, the Jail Blazers.

Bob W also was the Gm of the blazers and President/GM of the seahawks at the same time. How he never got another opportunity to be a GM always befuddled me.

I agree; I don't know exactly what happened or if there was somewhat a negative stigma associated with Bob W. and these Trail Blazers teams, but I guess it was a little weird how Bob W. was never talked about in terms of another GM job, but I may be wrong about that. But befuddled about Bob W. is very understanding.
