Say what you want about Pippin’s antics throughout his career, him sitting on the floor pouting is the most dignified thing he’s done. Honestly he lives reasonably close to me and so I see him in town from time to time and maybe age has mellowed him but he’s the nicest guy. Just don’t make a big scene about it and he’ll happily chat for a moment with a fan. And he’s really tall. Deceptively so…

Argh... The Lakers in the early 2000s. Those two free trips to the Finals that the NBA offered them. Really those series against the Blazers and the Kings were really what made them the antagonist of the era - to me at least - and probably what made that Pistons blowout in 2004 even more tasty.

The Thuggets of the late 2000s would be a fun topic too, similar to the Jail Blazers. That squad with AI, Melo, KMart, JR Smith, Dahntay Jones, and more was hella entertaining and pretty good as well.

Everyone likes to joke about the Jail Blazers but they had some legit squads before things imploded. Great veteran teams that were in the top of the west consistently. Sheed was dominant in the paint. Still think they got robbed vs the Lakers, around the same time the Kings did. Fun times back then
@deadprecedents13 жыл бұрын
The Blazers and Kings didn’t get “robbed vs. the Lakers”. They got robbed vs. David Stern.

Portland had like half the league’s talent on their team back then. Unbelievably, they actually did have way too many all-stars. No one could successfully coach all those egos.
@romanramirez7847 Жыл бұрын
Agreed. For a team that was supposed to be built around Sheed, they sure didn’t get anyone who actually were used to being in secondary roles. They would never going to work.

Two deep (Shaq/Kobe) vs Too deep (Portland). That 2000 Blazers team scared me more than the 2002 Kings. I never felt like at our best we'd lose to Sac, but Portland was absolutely good enough to beat us and win the title. But Blazers went Blazers at THE most important time. And they were never the same after.

16:36 And then Rasheed Wallace went on to win a championship with the Pistons, come within 12 minutes of a second in a row, (...be a part of another sad collapse,) and be proven right about a certain ref being BS. He's not spotless, of course. It's not hard to NOT drive under the influence, and people who do should definitely face punishment.

That's an NBA team who possessed NBA Finals talent....but imploded during the late 1990s/early 2000s. P.S.: That was Scottie Pippen's BEST chance to get out of Michael Jordan's shadow....but was guilty (along with his Blazer teammates) of not being able to close Game 7 against the Lakers who were left for dead until the Blazers eased off on the accelerator.

The 1999-2000 Portland Trail blazers team is one of the top 10 greatest teams not to win an NBA Title. I am a die hard Lakers fan and I admit I thought game 7 was over when L.A. was down 15 with 10:30 left to play. I remember hearing my dad going crazy so I had to come watch and boom the Lakers came back.
