Industrial Interior Design is like an attractive retired military guy wearing an eye patch and rocking a couple of scars. Kool video BTW!😎👍🏽

I fell in love with this style in 1983 the first time I saw the movie "Flash Dance". She lived in an abandoned giant factory or warehouse (Not sure how she had electric and water..). She just like picked a corner and put her stuff in it wherever she wanted to use it. She had all the space in the world to choose to use and spread out, but she had plenty with very little. It just looked like freedom and could be ANYTHING you decide you want it to be. Like she had a ballet dance bar to practice on in a big space between her kitchen and where she watches TV. She just brought her bicycle inside her house and leaned up against a wall. She made her space into whatever SHE wanted to put into the industry and design of her life, without permission from anyone. I mean, come on. She was a welder without a car and yet a phenom, talented dancer. She knows what art is, and doesn't need to ask anyone if she's pretty. Because she know's exactly who she is without trying to comparing herself to anyone else. She might even feel sorry for rich people.

Thank you Ma'am, About This Industrial Style Video. I learned a lot from your information.

Absolutely random, but I think I just realized another reason why I love the industrial loft look so much...it's a space meant to be inhabited by no more than two people and they're not having kids, just like myself, lol (though not saying you can't have kids in such a setting, but it's not really designed with that in mind, unlike the softer decor styles). Also, the emphasis on angular lines in the video just helped to break me from the wall print idea I had, which would've been more flowy. My apartment is as far away from looking industrial as it can get, so the furniture and art are going to have to sell the look for me (but without going overboard and looking like a try-hard. But I'm sure I can find something that has the edges and lines this style is known for and still love it). Thanks for that tip!

I enjoy your videos. Very informative and you make it easy to understand! I have a video request. I know that these are related to Industrial interior design in some way but can you do a video on Steampunk interior design and Victorian interior design? (I don't remember seeing those on your channel.)

Great suggestion! I will put that on the list! Thank you for watching :)

Super interesting video! I'm about to move into a tiny two floor 1910s apartment. Do you have any advice in mixing styles? I'm partial to that "Scandinavian minimalist" and industrial, but my new place is Victorian and has the paint pallette to reflect it 🤣 (or whatever styles you prefer to use as examples).
@InteriorDesignHub4 жыл бұрын
Congrats on your new apartment! I bet it is stunning 1910 Victorian. OK so mixing styles is 100% aok... it is really the most common thing in design, because most design styles are very intertwined. I felt like my answer for how to do it would have been WAY to long :P great video idea though! So I found this article for you: www.thespruce.com/how-to-mix-decorating-styles-452089 It has lots of great tips for mixing design styles!! KEY tip, keep the colour pallet as neutral as possible, that will allow for easy mixing of styles and you can add pops of colour in through accessories and artwork! Happy Decorating :) And thank you for watching the video I am glad that you enjoyed it!

My Atlanta loft is industrial and minimalist; I have my mountain bike, snow skis and paraglider as "art"....lmao. I keep it simple, invest money instead of buying "stuff" and travel!

I have been in love with this design aesthetic before it was "cool" but I do have a question I'm hoping you can help with. The materials I have found are usually really dirty! Pullies/ tools covered with oil, old gross reclaimed wood... How can you clean this stuff to be able to use it in your home?
@InteriorDesignHub3 жыл бұрын
So hopefully the place you find it would have done that for you. BUT if not, I would try dry brushing to get the dirt and grim off, and cleaning it off as much as you can without the use of water or chemicals. Just you don't know how they will react to the material. I am not 100% sure about oils and grease TBH, so I would say perhaps ask a local antique dealer what they would do. I do know that once you get it clean there are different types of sealers depending on what you purchase that will help protect it once you have it cleaned. Sorry that probably isn't of to much help...
@aperson17193 жыл бұрын
@@InteriorDesignHub no, that's great!!! The sealer is a great idea, I actually might try sealing the grim in (keeping it authentic) haha

I always wondered if art Deco style paintings and types of knickknacks - vases, etc. - could go with industrial-style?

Yeah I think it would add a cool juxtaposition actually!

@@InteriorDesignHub here's another question for you: could using faux 3D brick wallpaper, accent wall color, hardwood flooring or flooring that looks like concrete and using chunky hardware in the kitchen, the right lighting fixtures; give a townhouse that industrial-style feel?

I was going for industrial style and I think I ruined it by choosing the curtains. I would like to have them uncovered like they do so often but my husband likes them to be covered. I am trying to find some roller shades, roman shades? I am a little bit lost.
@InteriorDesignHub3 жыл бұрын
I think you can still do the look with curtains/ or shades, I would say keep it simple. not extra. Maybe white cotton, simple curtain or roman shade. try to have them blend away instead of being a focal :)
