I am 190 I always been 145 my whole life at one point lower than that I've gained over 50 lbs in the last 4 years and now that I am engaged I am wanting more to be healthy again. kzbin.infoUgkx5VQ5nUzHu6i0O5_u7ipyLnCz0lbsSvr0 I am not fat but I am thick and have muscle. I am very close to how you were but a lil smaller but I am so sick people making comments to me like I'm huge or like you said having shorts that used to be so cute on me and now I can't even find a pair to fit me. I used to love shopping now I don't even want to go to the store and if I do I pick the biggest size don't even try it on and deal with it. Congratulations! I just did my first 48 hour fast as well. I felt great between 36 and 42 hours but right around the 46th hour I was getting antsy for food. Then about 15 minutes before I was going to eat my neighbor comes knocking and asked if I want to go for a walk lol so I did. But I’m glad I did the fast I’m gonna have to do it again soon too because I’ve been weak with Christmas cookies.

I've been using fasting to induce autophagy for a few years now since reading about the research (family history of cancers) and I'm so so grateful for Dr Fung's youtube presence. It was HARD doing it on my own with no real guidance. I had no idea how long to fast, what broke it, etc and of course, I had no real points to counter everyone calling me 'nuts'! So thank you Dr Fung for posting all of this advice for free. You are amazing!

@welfarestates8465 3 жыл бұрын
@@PippaPipster Always best to stop if you're feeling unwell. I felt pretty iffy on day 2 of my first multi day fast, but I knew logically that I would be fine. I was taking a multi vitamin, and I was letting my body live off of the fat that I had stored - which is something our bodies were designed to do when food is scarce. Depending on the person, there are a lot of mental games which can occur when fasting. We subconsciously tell ourselves we need to eat, otherwise we will feel weak, unwell, etc.

My sister-in -law was pre-diabetic when she found your book, The Obesity Code. I was already doing keto, first week lost 10 pounds then nothing for the next 5 weeks. I decided to do fasting with my sister-in-law. I do 36 hour fast every other day. I’ve lost 15 pounds... for a total of 25 pounds in 3 months. When I talk about fasting, I feel like a religious fanatic that just said the 4 letter F word... FAST...people run from you. But over time when they see how much weight I lost... they jump on board. I tell my sister-in-law she’s like the head domino. Thank you Dr. Fung! YOU are the true head domino!

If your body is running on sugar, it's VERY hard to do fasting. That's why the first few weeks of fasting and Keto is hell, until you become "Fat Adapted". The sooner your body switches, the easier fasting gets.

I won’t have a meal until lunch, but coffee...🤦🏼‍♀️...I barely make it to 10am before I’m losing my mind. I wish there was a video on how to hack this addiction. I’ve tried almost everything I know. I have Jason Fung (and his books) to thank for my 50+ lbs weight loss over the last several months. And I only fast part of the time. The weight falls off so quickly while fasting that its almost scary. I alternate between no fasting, OMAD, 20/4 and a few 48 - 72 hour fasts thrown in. Mostly 20/4, with a meal at 2pm and another at 6pm. Its pretty easy once you get in the groove. I prefer to get in a gigantic salad when possible, per Dr. Eric Berg, for that tidal wave of phytochemicals, micronutrients and minerals. Thanks Dr. Fung.

I'm 68 and have battled with weight issues all my life. I was a fat baby, and have tried all kinds of diet plans and "tricks" since I was in my teens. I even tried amphetamine-based diet pills in my 20's. Yikes! The upside is that I have become very aware of what goes into my body, and over the years I learned a lot about what my body needs and how to eat well. I cleanse yearly, which includes a 4-day fast, and I'll often extend the cleanse by excluding all foods that burden the liver (sugar, alcohol, unhealthy fats, caffeine, red meat) for several weeks. Still, I can carry 20 to 50 pounds more than my "ideal" weight. I always found the fasting portion of my cleanse to be extremely effective in dropping weight, resetting my "sweet-meter," and generally helping me to feel lighter and clearer. Intermittent fasting is a relatively new idea to me, and I only wish I had been aware of it decades ago! I eat a largely paleo diet (with a small, dark chocolate cheat), and in January I started fasting 16-8 daily, with one monthly 42-hour fast. I quickly found that I can easily tolerate 18-6 daily, occasionally less, and I always feel great. Herbal teas help me get through the evening. Mugs of warm water in the morning are good health practice generally, and are great fillers until my "eating window" opens up. Thank you so much for sharing your expertise with us. This feels like a lifestyle program I can follow indefinitely. Very, very grateful follower here!

So many great suggestions. I worked my way up to 24 hours fasts slowly. At first I would feel dizzy at around the 22 hour mark, which was annoying because I was so close to my goal, but instead of pushing myself I would have something to eat. Eventually over time I got to 24 hours with no dizziness and now it’s easy.

I started 8 days ago at my heaviest weight ever, with a BMI of 47! I've now gotten under my second heaviest weight. And it's been SO EASY. I never ever expected IF to be easy. I've done mostly 18/6, with a 23/1, a 22/2, and even skipped fasting on Christmas day completely. Even with snacking on Christmas day, I still lost 7 oz that day. Getting back into the 18/6 after Christmas wasn't even hard. I have high hopes for this lifestyle change. Editing to add, my start date was 12/19/21 at 273 lbs
