@@cecilitaf I agree ! Dr. Mindy breaks it down for women in all age groups and helps by suggesting food choices along with the TIMING and the kind of fast (how long and again, what to eat) ... she also offers a lot of resources, such as how to test glucose/ketones (what it should be reading) as also the appropriate hormone testing if the body isn't responding as it should. Seriously, if you are a woman, go check out her information (I tend to get turned off by men talking to women about their cycles, which vary from woman to woman, and they never experience).

Hi! I am 53 had complete hysterectomy at 43 I also lost weight in my 20’s after I had kids.. and I worked out a lot.. now I have 20 or 25 to lose and I can’t seem to get it off at all. I do IF but find it hard to stop eating at night. So my eating window is not till 3 or 4 some days. Anyways, I am not sure if I have any hormones now or not I guess we get them from the adrenals still. Idk.. anyway my question is what is your eating window like? And exercise? And how long did it take u to lose anything

You’re so right about women’s menstrual cycles I gain almost 10 lbs the week before My period starts and as soon as I start bleeding I’m not hungry anymore the 10 pounds a week before is because I feel like I’m starving to death when reality I’m not. Lol. You’re also right on about everything else I just wanna give you the confidence as a man to keep preaching to women because you do know what you’re talking about so don’t let the women male haters discourage you in any way. I have been doing keto for 16 months. I’ve lost 104 pounds so far and have about 24 pounds to go. I’ve done at least 16:8 fasting 5 days per week, 24 hours one day per week and then on Sundays I take the day off. I still eat keto, but do not worry about my fasting window. I also do an extended fast (48-72 hours) every 6-8 weeks. It has worked well for me. I had a partial hysterectomy in 2014 and still have my ovaries. I don’t experience any monthly symptoms related to a cycle. How would I know when to zero in on my fasting based on my cycle? I’ll probably stick to my current fasting protocol but may try to focus my extended fasts to be right around the right time if I know how to figure it out.

I do keto omad usually 23/24 hours a day and I’ve been doing this since the beginning of the month and just started changing it up eating 2 times, twice a week more carb heavy, it works for me as I was trying to lose my last 20, almost down 10. Currently 152. I still give myself breaks and I add frozen fruit to my protein shakes, I make keto snacks daily/ weekly , I also try an add 1 non keto item to my meals daily. Can be a few crackers, fries, I like trying magnum mini icecream, as I eat a lot of zero carb meals so always have a lot of extra carbs.

Whaaaat? But if I don't do the IF every day, then I'll start getting hungry in the morning. The only time I get hungry now is if I don't get my usual lemon water (and herbal tea) consumed quick enough. Even then, it's not all that uncomfortable. I don't ever calorie-restrict though. I just eat healthy foods that I want. One bad thing I was doing was eating too much for that first meal after the fast. Even though I wasn't that hungry, because I was trying to get more nutrients. But either you or Dr. Berg said that the less you eat the less nutrients needed? I'm trying to trust my, er, "gut" and using these studies/opinions (which often I feel are "off" if one doesn't do all the mainstream crap) just as guidelines.

So could I at your age and tbh I still can now at 48, however what he said about progesterone is so true, if you fast too hard too frequently you end up shortening your cycles or getting breakthrough bleeds and ultimately speeding up your menopause, due to screwing your progesterone production (there’s a trade off between progesterone and cortisol & basically cortisol wins when we put excess stress on system through excessive fasts). My advice would be to monitor your cycle length v close;y and if it starts to shorten stop fasting so much. Particularly for the second half of cycle after ovulation, and the week prior to your period add in some hea;thy carbs like sweet potato, root veg, beans, pulses, quinoa etc (if you’re strict keto), your hormones will love you for it and you may well prolong the menopause. Just because we can fast for long periods doesn’t mean we should, your 40’s can be a time to really listen to your body and give it what it truly needs rather than what the ego desires.

@@sunmoonstars3879 What a beautiful comment, I loved your insight and common sense! Do you think that is counterintuitive fasting for 13-15 hs during menstruation, I meant while bleeding? Or do you avoid also that time for fasting, even with short fasts? I'm 44 years old and I want to make it right, I just really confused with so much contradictory information out there. Thanks so much in advance! :) Thanks in advance!

@@CabecitaDeNovia thank you 🙏❤️ personally I listen to my body, for example I just stared my period today and I feel good/strong no hunger or weakness feeling, so I’m going to fast until this afternoon and do one meal. However sometimes I feel I must eat, so I eat. In our 40’s our hormones can be somewhat erratic so no two months are the same, this is why we must learn to really listen to our bodies. But generally it’s the week leading up to my period that I lay off the fasting so much, once my period starts I can usually get back into fasting again v quickly. We need more calories and iron so I eat more red meat and good fats and this gives me the nutrients to have a ‘good’ period - no fatigue, v minimal cramps etc. At my age I now love the fact I’m still getting regular healthy periods, so I see it as a blessing rather than a curse.

What about postmenopausal after 60? I am doing daily-low carb, 2meals with 8-6 hours of eating time, and 20-24 OMAD on weekends. I started because I was recently diagnosed as a prediabetic. The A1C is good now, but I need to stop losing weight, and I am concerned about my health. I am feeling fine, but the long-term effects are unknown. I eat the most during my dinner time at about 5-6p, but I can only eat so much. Never in my life, I have overstuffed my stomach. I also exercise almost daily for about an hour during my fasting state. What can I do to stay at a normal weight? For me, it would be around 115-120lb. I weight 113.5 two days ago. As an older woman, I read we need to have a little extra weight available, and I am past the age of worrying about a perfect bikini body. I thought it was fine at 130lb when I started this journey, but PD changed that in a heartbeat.

I love your videos I have learned so much thank God for you. I just turn 40 and I’ve been battling with pre-diabetes and fibromyalgia for about four years now and I had it I decided that I do not wanna live like this anymore. So I’m listening and taking your advice so that I can make a 360 in my life. I am really scared of diabetes that is the one thing that freaks me out and being pre-diabetic it’s very stressful to me I think about this thing every single day not to mention all of the symptoms from the prediabetes.

You do a 180, not a 360. 360 brings you right back to where you started. I know it’s just semantics but it’s one that a lot of people get wrong.

We have been living in Missouri for the last few years but have to return to England in a few months. I am very disappointed in the complete lack of things like hemp hearts and healthy sweeteners that I can find online in the supermarkets. We mainly eat healthy meat and veg but it has been nice to try other things.

Let’s forget those 40 - 50 y.o. women for a bit. I’m 70, in good health except for needing to lose another 35 pounds. I love the way I feel eating IF or OMAD, but now I’m confused about how often I should fast. Don’t think we need to talk about hormones too much, that ship has sunk. Do you have any recommendations for women in my age group? BTW, ordered your book from Amazon, will it be out soon? Thank you for your amazingly interesting videos.

Thank you so much for this info Thomas! I’ve been roughly doing a 16:8 almost daily since January and have hit a plateau after first 10 lbs… I’m 43 and on HRT (so estrogen and progesterone taken daily). Not sure what type of fast would be most effective for someone who doesn’t produce estrogen nor progesterone naturally. Any advice? Thanks

First of all: #YOURE #SUCH #A #BLESSING!! I Appreciate you so much for your hard work on this channel.🤗 Now, I'm 46, I don't see myself living without fasting but I just started weight training and my trainer is giving 5 meals a day and great amounts of protein, the problem is that I don't even get hungry, not with even on the training days....what should I do?? Is it okay to eat only when I'm hungry?? And for the record I do have 20 pounds to lose. #THANKYOU

How does it change for women over 60, I’m 68 and lost 60 pounds in 5 months, but cannot budge the last 10 pounds… ..trying to exercise and walk EVEN more, but thinking, maybe journaling my food might show too much protein, or not enough good fat. My veggies are usually greens, and cabbages, not so much high carb veggies and no starch or gluten… Will stevia in tea, or tea ( mostly herbal no caffeine, no fruit bits in it)…affect fasting ?( cold weather drink… warm weather I only drink water)… Also I never eat fruit… I do not really crave or like fruit. I do Omad in a 1 to 3 hour window… Just never hungry… This is a very busy time in my life and hate to take the time. I enjoy, a fun once a day fresh prep, eat, clean up and do not have to be bothered for another 24 hours…. Any advice would be appreciated.

How about women who live an active lifestyle? I am 41 and workout (aerial dance, ballet and yoga) 7 hours a week. Any modification needed for 16-8 intermittent fasting 3 times a week? Another question is regarding the best window period during a cycle for IF. Other than the 2nd week of the cycle, how about the other weeks? Should we stop or do less?

I lost my period after 15 days of 16+8 on GI under 40. And i was so happy, Oh can't explain it. For 10 years i had floods, anemia, weakness, depressions... But last 2 years i had PMS conditions for 2 months, then 20 days periods... It was either hormonal therapy or metmorfins. I tried tablets and i had 30 days of headache - no changes. Fasting helped me in a few days. First thing i felt alive like I'm 20 (I'm 50 btw). Then i kicked out all buried emotions after my gather passed away (it was buried inside me for 10cyears) and i finally started lossing weight. However, after 6 months, i went back in sort of tiredness, weakness and depression, without period. But i feel much better without food. Usually it's 18+6. Now i know i must change something 🤔 I. Went through delta amazingly with 20 hours and no carbs.

Look into the supplement DIM and menopause supplement by NOW foods .. a lot of it is probably hormones .. what about a wild yam cream for progesterone?
