Can you share your fasting schedule? What time of day and what time of month you fast? Thanks
@youarestronger3 жыл бұрын
@@brookelight2090 I stuck strictly to keto for 2 months, starting at 16:8. I have never been in the mood for breakfast, so I went with lunch starting at 12pm then dinner at 5:30pm. Some days I did OMAD when I just wasn't that hungry earlier. But after two months my period reset. I went back to IF 16:8 with more work to do earlier in the day. I started after a September menstrual cycle and was not expecting on in October or November, but there they were and have not stopped since. I have taken progestogen in the past but the effects never lasted past a few months. I mean I have been on and off Keto since last year but my period has never stopped for a year now. It's unreal to me, truly.
@HH-gv8mx Жыл бұрын
Do you fast daily and during your cycle? I don’t do keto but do 16/8 daily. I maintain weight on that schedule. I also try and work out during a fasting state whether it’s running and some weight training or cycling or walking I try and do some sort of exercise daily. If my feeding window is any earlier than that, I tend to gain weight and also due to my schedule. Sometimes I have to push my fasting window up so I’m not getting my nails until late at night after my work out. I didn’t get it. At all for a few years in my mid 30s and now it has come back in my 40s. They would put me on progesterone if I wanted to have a period.

In Ramadan, child bearing age women do not fast 30 days, but 21 days because they are instructed for health reasons (interesting to find the science behind it) not to during menstruation (also, interesting to find the science behind this). It is not about being "impure" as in other cultures/ faiths, but for the sake of health, since they are still participating, preparing and helping to prepare the food for breaking the fast, etc.

I didn’t get my period for two months after I got sick with Covid and then when I changed my eating schedule, once I got my energy back up I started fasting more and increasing my exercise and my period came back, but sometimes it was twice in one month. Very frustrating. I notice if I work out really hard and I eat super healthy and lean. My period will be very light and not last very long. If I allow myself to eat more, I have heavier periods. It’s crazy how much this affects women’s hormones.

I have been doing a 20:4 fast. During my eating window I've been eating primarily keto. In 8 weeks I've only lost 15# but other markers have greatly improved; waist measurements, blood pressure and energy. My question is does any suggestions that you had in this video pertain if I've had a hysterectomy? I had a full hysterectomy when I was 39, I'm 55 now and have struggled with my weight ever since. Thank you!

I’d like to know the answer to this question as well. I had all my girl parts out a few years ago and it’s been a struggle ever since. I’ve been doing keto and IF for 18 months but I’m stuck at a plateau right now. Nothing I do seems to help. I think I did too much of everything so I’ve backed off on the IV, now just fasting every other day. I also started eating a bit more during my eating windows. Thomas has been really helpful through this journey. It’s nice to know there are other women with the same issues I’m having. Good luck, stay healthy.

Great info. I’m in my 40s and started intermittent fasting last year. I didn’t know these information until months later that women can not IF the same way as men due to our cycle. In the beginning, I fasted over 18 hours daily eating 2 or 1 meal/day for months. My metabolism went down and ended up gaining weight. I’m trying to fix all this now by fasting and following my cycle phase. Thanks for bringing this topic up. Another great resource for women & fasting checkout Dr. Mindy Pelz channel.

Yes! I began IF about 4months ago and lost twenty pounds. But for the last 3 weeks the weight loss has virtually stopped but I don’t think it’s a plateau. Thanks for the hint, I'll have to check her out. Initially I've also lost a lot of weight through regular fasting but then I hit a plateau and no matter what I did my body wouldn't let go of any more fat. Because I was so frustrated, I went back to eating three meals a day. Unfortunately, I put on some weight because of that. I had no idea that I'd have to take my cycle into consideration. it is kinda annoying though.

@@loonyTlu from what I understand, doing IF every single day may decrease the metabolism if not eating enough. It’s good to eat 3 meals a day every now & then like Thomas suggested so the body doesn’t get used to the pattern. However, as women, we need to take our cycle into consideration as well. I haven’t found my balance yet. If you do, let me know. Good luck!

My problem is I can’t know how much is less eating or more eating . I never counted calories so I’m not sure if I’m eating less than I should 😏
@SalznPfeffer6583 жыл бұрын
calorie counting is not sustainable in the longterm so don't worry about it. Try a more mindful approach, I.e eat slowly and listen to your tummy and get a feel for when you feel almost full. it takes 20mins for the brain to register food is in the tummy and to then to process how much it needs at that time. 2. nutrient dense meal times. Not too much food in one sitting (that it makes you sick for being so full), but food types that satiate the body, lotsa essential fats & protein and try to reduce/change your carb intake to a more wholefood way. 3. consider a more manageable IF protocol e.g 16/8, 18/6 so you have time to slowly eat the meals. :-)
