This vlog highlights the Ballito Dolphin Coast as a Comm Serve placement paradise for Community Service Officers and for medical staff who want to live in the Dolphin Coast and work in the surrounding rural institutes. Officers can choose to live off-site during their year of the contract and can choose the Dolphin coast to live in and travel to work. The lifestyle opportunities for interns, community service officers and any staff for that matter at Ballito and surrounding areas, South Africa is explored. It views the life of a doctor at a district hospital in Kwa-Zulu Natal. The working hours and working conditions and nearby recreational hotspots are discussed and visited. Great and entertaining video! Was wondering whether medical doctors have to fill a "minimum patients seen" requirement everyday on the job or is it strictly time based ie. 09:00-17:00 for example

Great and thought provoking question. Doctors are supposed to work a 8 hour day, for eg. 7h30 to 16h00 with a half an hour lunch break and 15 minute tea break as per labour law. So it doesn't depend on patient numbers. You can see 10 or 50 patients it makes no difference. However in most hospitals morally,ethically and based on team dynamics doctors see patients until the very end even if it means going beyond 16h00.This is where a good clinical manager comes in and ensures there is a balance between work and family life of his team.

Firstly it is advisable to complete your internship and at least one year post internship.There is an examination you will have write and you also have to apply to the foreign workforce department and get a job offer. Hope this helps.

Usually you need to be a South African or be sponsored by your country to study MBBS in South Africa . The cost of studies ranges but starting fees is around 5000 US Dollars per year excluding accommodation and books.

Hello thanks for the informational videos, I was wondering how I can apply for the medical internship in SA as a foreigner? I looked at the ICSP and HPCSA websites, and it stated I needed to go through the Foreign Workforce Portal to apply, but when I searched for it nothing came up. Can you please give us some instructions on how to apply? Thank you!

Thanks for watching.Currently there is an oversupply of medical interns in South Africa. I would suggest you first complete your internship in your country of origin and then apply to work in South Africa. Depending on where you reside there might be an examination you will have to write, then get your HPCSA registration and apply to the foreign workforce department.
