Just want to thank you for your content sir! Salaries are often a taboo and as a student it seems so difficult to access this information if we dont know anyone in the field. I deeply appreciate your videos and am already using it to supplement my future health career and financial management skills.

Hi doc. I'm a 5th year medical student. Firstly thanks for a priceless set of videos that nobody really talks about. I am interested on the path to specialisation. Are there structured paths for each discipline? Does it change by province? Are they all 4 years long? Etc. If you could make a video on specialisation, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank for the input. I will definetly make a video on that topic in the very near future. It's great to know that you are thinking about specialization already in your 5th year.

Hi Doctor, can you please do salaries of each specialty, e.g neurosurgery or cardiology etc
@InterncomservVlog4 жыл бұрын
I have done the specialties in my previous video. please click the link kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZnWmZoxsmauMd9k There is no difference in salaries in the public sector. They all earn the same as the total cost to the employer is the same. But I will look into explaining the difference in the private sector.

Hi doctor. Thank you for this very informative video, can I ask, in order to become a medical services manager do you need to have studied MBChB or can you also do Business Management to become one?
@InterncomservVlog4 жыл бұрын
No, you have to have a medical degree to become a medical services manager but you can become a hospital manager or CEO with a business management degree though you should still have a background in the medical field.

Doc, may you please clarify if someone who did Dentistry is able to do an MPH and get into hospital management
@InterncomservVlog3 жыл бұрын
You don't have to do an MPH but it does carry weight. In a district hospital that I worked in the Hospital manager was a dentist with no MPH or MBA but was studying toward it. I would suggest if are interested then do both and consider applying to a CHC (Community Health Clinic) or small disitrict hospitl and work your way up.

Hello Mr Thandrayen, would you say public or private salaries are higher? I would really like to know your opinion.
@InterncomservVlog4 жыл бұрын
This is a very difficult question to answer but generally, the CEO in the private hospital earns about the same as a district hospital manager but I think the tertiary hospital CEOs in government earn more than the private sector hospital managers or CEOs. GPs in private practice earnings vary depends on the location and number of other GPs in the area. Many of the GPs have businesses or work sessions in the public and private sector casualties for example. I know of many of my colleagues that have left the private sector to work in government and vice versa but at the end of the day, it is where one has autonomy and able to best serve the patients that one chooses to work.
