That is so sweet. For so little money. The Pi Zero without wifi is only $5. A few bucks for HDMI cabling and the board itself is the biggest outlay of money.

Yup. It is so freaking cheap, that it is the most awesomme product in years. Every Amiga500 should have one installed. Yes, one need to mod the case, however it is so worth it.

Thanks for doing the videos on this. I have a very basic question...do I just need to copy the files over to the sdcard? So it does not need to be imaged onto the card? I actually have a CPU accelerator on my amiga 500 so I will have to find a cable ro run from the Denise extender to thePi zero or it will not fit.

Yup. Just copy the files. 🙂

Is there much latency from the Amiga to the HDMI output? Some upscalers lag pretty bad. It would be awesome if this one is nice and quick.

I have not experienced much my self. 🙂 I really can not see if there is any with my naked eye. You might find something with a specialised tool if you investigate it. 🙂 But I have provided a link in the description, to the maker of this product, and it is explained more in dept on that github page.

I have one too in my Amiga 2000 and In some games I see artifacts, even after adding a capacitor to the board. Ive seem some other people having the same issue.

I have seen reports about that as well. However in my two a500's, there are no issues. I have no idea what does it.

@@brostenen do you have whdload? So it happens when I start up monkey island 1 fe. With whdload. At the title screen you see the mountain and the music with the text changing. Well in the purple text I see sparkles/artifacts.

once installed, will a hdmi to vga adapter works?
@brostenen3 жыл бұрын
Yup. I have tested it, and it is shown in one of my other videoes. However you still need to have to correct monitor, that can do at least 1080p resolition. And the quality of the VGA monitor is something you need to take into account as well. Just use a 1080p television and it will work fine.

@@brostenen thanks! I’ll look the video up. I have a vga monitor that’s 1280x1024 so maybe it’s not enough. I’ll check it out when I receive the adapter I just ordered (I’m not good at soldering).

@@spidLL That is good enough. If it has DVI input, then use HDMI to DVI monitor cable. 🙂 That is what I am using with my Dell 2001fp monitor. Works great. 😋

Yet, no one found a way for getting the HDMI cable cleanly out of the build together case without poking holes? xD
@brostenen4 жыл бұрын
That might be the most difficult thing, yes. Drilling a hole was actually what we did, back in the 80's and 90's, when we installed kickstart switcher and slowmem on/off switches. There is room under the floppy drive in an Amiga500, with space enough to add switches, a VGA connector or HDMI connector. Personally, I do not see it as vandalism, because it is to me, just another upgrade. I have a V2 adaptor on the way as of now, and I will install it in my ECS Amiga500. Then I have a HDMI ribbon cable on the way as well. In this Amiga, I have an Kickstart switcher and a Boot selector, with the switches installed under the Floppy drive on the side of the machine. Then I have an Scandoubler in it as well. I plan on making a video about the machine, once I have the V2 adaptor installed in it. Only thing I need to investigate, is if I can have the V2 adaptor on top of the scandoubler or not. I am thinking about the stress that power draw might do to the motherboard.

@@brostenen Do you even need a flickerfixer with the RasPi? With another software or some changes it should be possible to have it output 480p/31kHz and use the Raspi as an flickerfixer, too, which qould only require an passive VGA adapter. Doesn't it support this? I though about leaving the trapdoor open, or replacing the trapdoor by a 3d printed one, with a hole for the cable and then put the A500 on some rubber feet, just for having enough space, to have the cable pass underneath.

Hehe... It is a demo. I can show some Workbench footage. However the target group for this RGB-HDMI adaptor, is people who wants to play Floppy Disk or Gotek drive based games. However, there are a user called something with "furiadude600" or something like that, on youtube. He has the ECS version of the adaptor, and is demonstrating workbench. Do you remember the artwork in pinball fantasies, were it say the name of the game in the intro? On CRT it is flickering, even with RGB to Scart cable and a TV that does RGB over Scart. Using the adaptor I have, the image is not flickering. The bad part about this adaptor, is that it does not do highres screenmodes. On the other hand, if one is only playing Disk based games, then it does not matter.

I will be making game footage later. This month is a month of less time on the hand. You know. 🙂🎄
