Who am I?
I'm Cherish! I currently teach Mechanical Engineering at a University but I remember the days of being a struggling engineering student. Going to class, feeling confused and frustrated when trying to do assignments because I hadn't learned much in class seemed to be a regular occurrence.
I created STEM Course Prep to save today's engineering students from the same fate. I teach my courses in a way I would have liked to be taught... light on theory, heavy on examples.
Organization is key to learning so I also provide an outline of notes for my courses so you can stay organized and create a great resource for each course.
Current offerings:

Mechanics of Materials
Thermodynamics
Fluid Mechanics
MATLAB
Numerical Analysis
Intermediate Dynamics

F(BC) is a internal pin so it must have 2 reactions. Why is there only F(BC)y and not F(BC)x?

Is it because F(BC)x has no force. Just like Ax would equal 0?

BC is a two force member so those are modeled with one force in the direction of the member. Typically if you try to include two forces for these members you will end up with too many unknowns in the problem.

Why did you ignore pin C

We just need the force in member BC. We can find that without looking at joint C since this is a two force member

How did you find the FBC values

I took the moment about A so that the only unknown was FBC and then I could solve. Hope that helps!
