A V8 diesel at full song is beautiful music!!! Thank you for posting this video. We never used any V8 diesel's, but did use IH tractors. My granddad had a WD-9, a 600, and a 1206 that dad used. Then dad got a 1486. Later he upgraded to a CIH 9110. All good tractors.

We had one growing up in Louisiana. We bought it used when I was about 12 years old. I finally got to start driving it when I was about 14 because the clutch was so heavy, having no hydro assist. After driving it all summer long, your left leg would be 2x the size of your right.
@kennethstanton54079 ай бұрын
I didn't know they came without a hydraulically assisted clutch. Ours had the deluxe cab and torque amplifier. Jason is reporting 20.3 mph but ours would clock 30 mph. It had been "adjusted" to run a bit overspeed but it may have been something to do with tire choices as well. We ran 20.3 x 34 dualled with hub mounted 18.4 x 38s. I've seen others comment about theirs really getting up and moving on the road too. Although we ran a mixture of Case, Deere, Steiger and IH, we worked back and forth with neighbours who had exclusively IH equipment so across the two operations, I had thousands of hours in the 1468, 1456, 1466, 1486, 1066, 1086, 3588, 3788, 4166, ... plus all the IH utility tractors from 606 onward and an array of swathers, combines and other cool equipment.

We had several IH S-Series spreader trucks from the 80's. Two had the 9.0 liter IH motors and the rest had DT-466 engines. The 9.0 liter engines were gutless. Would barely maintain 45 mph loaded. The 466 trucks would walk the dog loaded .

I have run both the 1466 and 1468, I always thought the 1468 had more power. But I was in my late teens and the twin stacks sounded more powerful! We were using the 4WD frontends and would put them on and take them off for different needs. When they changed tractors we would just use the frontends we had but for some reason the 1468 didn't have the cover on the side of the transmission to hook up the 4WD shaft.

The Massey Ferguson was superior in several ways particularly in Hydraulics and IH didn’t copy that. Forget not that Ferguson was the originator of the three point system and, added closed center Hydraulics ( which Deere copied ) later. Fergieman
