First truck I had assigned to me was one of these flat floor cabovers. Glad I got to experience it.

Not a giant fan of International cabovers, but sure do like the flat floor models. Best of both worlds.

I thought they were one of the nicest I ever had to operate, never had a flatfloor version but a nice Eagle with a N14-460 18speed

Personally I love International Cab Overs. This model has more user friendly room because they moved the shifter forward also lowered the floor on dog house. The bad thing about all this creature comfort given to us drivers. We lost the sensitive feel of transmission gear changes. I would clean the old grease off all linkages and re grease with fresh to keep any dirt or grime from causing shifting problems. On several occasions I would have to stop and raise the cab and get everything like it was made to be because if the cab was in a twist you could easily pull the linkage apart and leave you stranded until you got it back rite again. International COE's may not have been as classy as some others but they were built with the driver in its heart. I ran one with a Detroit 70 series from Atlanta to Dallas bunches of trips loving it the whole time. One trip I heard a pop noise like a blown tire and sparks. As I started up an exit ramp the whole back of the cab was a blaze. Mine "was" the best one of the bunch and after it cooked itself the company sold the rest to be shipped to Africa. Our replacements were 660 Volvo hoods. With a new Volvo with walk in stand up cab and sleeper. I was quick to give up grieving the loss of my cab over International. The older CO 9670 International is hard to beat for its simple floor plan and the shifter has more feel to the transmission. I just love, miss and know that those machines have done there duties and will never be called back out to move freight like they were in there prime.

I had a prototype one for our fleet that was decked up with all the whistles, It even had the autoshift when it was brand new. I loved that truck. It was great. I could put it in any dock and it ran a good 8 miles an hour faster than any of our others. The flat floor was almost like a conventional and the only draw back was the climbing in. You got used to it, though. I would love to have it today.

Great taste in music! Also, I had the same pillow cases & bedspread. That is, I had the same pillowcase with matching bedspread, etc. in my sleeper.

the main reason America went away from the cabover trucks was the lifting of length restrictions. once drivers/companies were able to operate longer combinations the majority went to bonnet style trucks and the main reason was as Bassmanll says is due to ride comfort but they are also easier to access the sleeper compartment. generally they are a more user friendly interior.

Mine didn't have windows or air controls in the sleeper and the shifter was a little further back. It was a miserable truck to live with for long periods of time. It was awesome at tight docks though.

@cdogmotocross very shitty gas mileage due to flat design it creates alot of wind resistance therefore burning more fuel

bullshit. in Australia we run a lot of cabovers in b double applications and their fuel economy is similar to a non aerodynamic style bonneted truck.
