Hi, Kat! We live in Scottsdale, and as passengers, my husband and I love, love, love the PHX-LHR flight (and back), when we are going to Europe (even though LHR is a bit of a pain with connections), because it is a long enough flight that you can just eat your dinner, lie back and get a good five hours' sleep, wake up to a decent breakfast, and not feel totally wonky upon arrival. Coming home, it makes for a ridiculously early morning (especially when flying in from FRA first), but, once again, the IFE on the plane is good, you can nap on the plane, and then crash after an early dinner upon arrival. Thanks for being part of the team that makes it all possible. These flights are long and the service has always been consistently excellent.

I have a great deal of respect for a purser. I was recently on a KLM flight to Amsterdam. We handed left the gate. The purser stopped by to have a ‘chat’ with the passenger behind me. Apparently he had called one of the FAs stupid. Well that didn’t go well. The purser told him if he didn’t apologize, he would be removed from the flight. He apologized.

I have retired from a wonderful career as an Executive Administrative Assistant III. I loved every minute of it. Fun Fact: On some older Boeing 747 aircraft, the Purser actually had a small office on the plane. I believe some airlines also have them on the A380 but I have never seen one on the flights I've taken.

A quick question, maybe you had said this before, if your dead head like to London or back to Dallas, do you get to board with the crew or do you go through the general boarding? Your right if you think about post landing, what you go through before the crew is able to deplane, then a shuttle to the hotel from LHR, then repeat back, that 17 hours is probably closer to 13-14 hours. Not a lot of rest there.

No we get full pay to deadhead (some airlines only get half pay), but nonreving is on our own time for free. But you still get paid for the deadhead even if you waive it❤️

I learned most the airline terms from you and Carrie Ann but had never heard of the airlines having a purser. It's kind of like the purser on a cruise ship with lots of responsibilities. Great that you were able to get some help and pull it off!

Pursers are what we call Leads for International trips. Most airlines except for Delta calls theirs Flight Lead. Even international cabin crew are called Pursers. We just don’t make it known what positions are called on a flight.
