"Bendis writes a good story". Now that's a big fat lie right there.
@VideoGameLedgen8 жыл бұрын
Christopher Clarke He can write good stories if he really tries/wants to, it's just sometimes Bendhis doesn't try as much or overestimates himself. He also really likes doing what he likes even if it doesn't fit the story. Civil war 2 has a perfect example of that, having miles and venom talking and fighting even though it has nothing to do with the story.

it has been official that he was adopted before this story, and adopting a kid that looks similar to you and is also super smart like you is unlikely, but not as unlikely as being bitten by a radioactive spider and gaining a bunch of powers that are roughly based on spiders or gamma rays turning you into a green rage monster that gains mass as it gets angrier, soooo

I am betting it's a great read but I really, really dislike these re-origin stories. Why this need to change something that already makes perfect sense. Tony is a Stark and like his father Howard in hurt his genius capability..... everything makes sense
@TheTheDontae8 жыл бұрын
Joe Rodriguez often times in the comic books do you have to update classic origins so they make sense within the modern context with characters like Batman Superman and Spiderman that's unnecessary there Origins are timeless. but with heroes like ironman, Wonder Woman, daredevil and the punisher theres a challenge
@joerodriguez50798 жыл бұрын
Amazing Zero I completely agree with you. IF retelling/reimagining their origins are all we’re talking about then absolutely yes. I thought MCU Ironman was a perfect example of how to do that right though. They basically took the same origin and applied it to a modern day conflict setting in the Afghanistan area as opposed to where it originally happened, Vietnam. It’s still the same story so old folks can relate to it because it’s essentially the same and we understand the need to update it and young folks can relate to the events but are still blessed with receiving the, for all intents and purposes, the original origin. This however is not that. It’s rewriting, retconning Tony’s origin, maybe not the events that led him to take on and create the mantle of Ironman but arguably something even more important, his genetics. I mean it’s silly too think that a super scientist genius inventor like Howard Stark would be fortunate enough to adopt a super scientist genius inventor baby. I’m sorry but that’s just TOO much coincidence for me, even if it is in just a comic book. NOW if Tony Stark were say a clone of Howard adopted by Howard and named Tony then at least from a story telling perspective it at least makes sense. Sadly enough it’s easier to believe someone might try to clone Howard versus Howard miraculously being lucky enough to adopt a super genius baby….. that or Howard took the Terry McGuiness route and rewrote young Tony’s DNA as a baby to inherit not only Howards genius but his general physical look and characteristics too.
@TheTheDontae8 жыл бұрын
Joe Rodriguez as of right now they are playing a little fast and loose with a few things involving Tony Starks individual aspects. but as for his genius they may be implying a nature versus nurture thing where being around Howard. Tony growing up to idolize his father and then becoming a reflection of the very dad he wanted to surpasses very young Tony Stark into applying himself to become a genius. Your biological clone theory would've been cool, but they kinda have a complicated past and the genetic upgrade origin covered with his step brother.
@LeAndre_McCoy8 жыл бұрын
That's not how genetics works, so no, that doesn't make sense. You don't inherit genius DNA.

Personally I think this origin was far too boring, especially since after all the hype it's two people we've never heard of and don't care about. It would have been far more interesting to have Tony's father turn out to be Phillip Watson, MJ's drunk and deadbeat hack writer father who at a younger age had been incapable of raising Tony and given him for adoption. This would allow a greater reason for MJ's inclusion and set up a new and interesting sibling relationship between Tony and MJ as half brother and sister, and a reason to bring the Iron Man and Spider-Man books closer together.

I remember an Iron Man Annual from I believe the 70s or 80s where King Arthur's wizard, Merlin, transported both Iron Man and Doctor Doom into the future. In one sequence, Tony in armor confronted Arno Stark also in armor. Tony, wielding Excalibur, was able to defeat Arno Stark in a vastly more powerful Iron Man armor. Doctor Doom learned that Tony was inside the armor, but Merlin wiped that knowledge from Victor.

I actually missed Arno but Arno has disappeared without a trace in the comics ever since a few years ago. He started fading a little before Superior Iron man. All of a sudden Brian Bendis finally refrains from shying away the secret origin story like it never happened wayyy later. Boy was I so disappointed when I figured out that Arno was gone when I started reading Superior Iron man a while back.

I like the idea of doing a more personal story of Tony Stank....:D
@kylerrariden89098 жыл бұрын
At first, I thought this story was a bad idea. I think that has to do mainly to my attachment to what I had already known about Stark's heritage. However, I think it means to point out the shock and denial that Tony would feel, just like how the readers feel. This I think is clever because the story relates to the reader in this way. This way being the shock and denial we feel about knowledge that defies logic. I also really like this story because it really grounds Tony into a more humanistic and relatable character despite his badass exterior. Besides, could you imagine if this story fit into the Marvel Cinematic Universe? A perfect plot for another Iron Man movie. It's after Captain America: Civil War, and Tony is left to deal with the shock of everything revealed to him in the film about himself and who he thinks his parents are. On top of that, Pepper seems to be leaving him. With this, Tony goes into an existential crisis and embarks on this personal journey where he finds out who his real parents are. Then in Infinity War, Tony will be ready to team up with the Avengers again, and finally move on.

But this wasn't bad i think its plausible but doesn't interest me. Iron man has already done so much with one origin its hard to think a new origin will change his character or his future at all so it seems pointless change his past.

The weird thing about this, and please correct me if I'm wrong, is that for most of Marvel's live-action movie history, when they have a popular character, and changes are made to the character for the movie, Marvel has a habit of changing the comics to reflect the movies. Remember how, during the period of the initial X-men movies, Marvel not only switched the X-Men's colorful costumes for black leather uniforms, but actually temporarily changed the appearance of both Mystique and Toad to reflect their movie appearances. Similarly, when the original Sam Raimi Spider-Man films gave Peter organic webbing, rather than the traditional web-shooters, Marvel redid the comics so that their Spidey also had organic webbing. But this case seems to be completely different. It has long been established that Tony Stark is the only child of Howard and Maria Stark; he had to be, or the effects of the Barnes revelation wouldn't mean as much to him. Yet whether or not Arno Stark still exists, we see that Tony is still adopted., something going completely away from the movie history. So I have to wonder... is this a case of Marvel not caring any more, since they have plans to eliminate Tony Stark entirely?

interesting that you brought up the edge Hydra typically has over SHIELD, I'm assuming you know, but have you read Jonathan Hickman's Secret Warriors?, As that story is all about how Hydra has controlled SHIELD, and was partially adapted for the winter soldier film. It's not a concept referenced as often as it should, mostly because of how it's sort of hard to use, but there's no reason that it's not still in continuity, and characters from it have popped up recently in Spencer's captain America run.

I actually don't mind this at all, actually I think it might be a good thing for Tony. There's something about heroes that most of them either have very little family (Peter Parker and Aunt May) or have none at all at a biological level for the most part (Bruce Wayne, not counting Batwoman or the Talon, forgot his name). Seeing Tony being able to get to know his Mother might actually prove beneficial to him, my question is what he takes from this, and if it changes him as a person.
