On Friday 21st February it was International Mother Language Day. Year 5 produced this wonderful movie to celebrate how we value and embrace diversity among our learners in the school.
Why is International Mother Language Day important?
It is a great opportunity to reflect on our own languages and how they shape who we are and how we view our world. Our languages are a deep part of our cultural identity and a rich source of stories, proverbs and sayings. We have been reflecting on why we need to respect our language and the languages of those around us.
According to The United Nations: “International Mother Languages Day is observed every year to promote linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism.”
