Thanks for bringing back some memories. One thing in your walk around I think may need review is that the Payhauler has 2 fuel tanks, one on each side so they could be fueled from either side. The hydraulic tank is on the right side behind the headlight.

The company i work for bought about 25 or 30 of them a few years ago to move 4.6 million m3 in a short period of time. The machines were a complete beast to watch work. Power like you wouldnt believe , very mobile. Like stated in the video the cabs were a bit tight and our biggest problem with them is that we were using them in cold canadian winters and the spring suspension would break if abused to much

Love these I drove one in the 80's it is only 4 wheel drive in 1st or reverse we had one cummins all the rest were 16-71 detroits emergency battery steering had a heel switch on the floor. Just a great truck

I drove these at a quarry operation, absolutely the best for stripping overburden off next springs mining area when the snow and rain hit. They did have exhaust heated beds.

I've only ever seen one back when I was a tire tech, I happened to see one of these out of service in the weeds and was like what the he'll is that? Lol. You see some pretty interesting old machines with that job going to different quarrys and farms. One of the best parts is, there's always something you've never seen or heard of until you see it for yourself.

HI PAmining, I've got a question on these International Payhauler's. Back in the Mid to late 60's & 70's a Construction Co. I worked for had a International Payhauler that Did Not Dump the load it had a system kinda like a Scraper that Pushed the load out the rear, it was kinda slow do'in that too. Seems like it was called something like a "Compactor" or something like that, I don't really remember now. Do you know what it was?

Very good concept. Exhaust near the fuel tank.

in 1978 to 79 we had a small fleet of Pay Haulers, turned out to be good end dumps, the next model down were a little sketchy: the overload in the dump bed would cause the truck to do rear wheel stands, more then high enough for me to walk under the front wheels. Other then general service, I was doing a lot of brakes on them, Slick haul roads and mud, they didn't do so well.

I imagine being dual wheeled front and back + 4x4 would mean very good tyre wear over rocky ground

First time i saw one of this trucks it was at a salt mine in Dominican Republic. They have faster CAT 763 but when weather turn rainy and the 30% slope got slippery the Payhauler was the only one who can take the job done.Remember everybody talking about the CAT 763 but i always though the Paylauler was cooler!!! thanks...

PAmining we recently bought 3 of these. 2 run 2 for parts. The 2 that run have set a couple years and the transmissions will not go into gear. Any idea why?
