As a former director of the eighth-largest travel agency on East Coast during my tenure, this video was the most informative for my family, friends, and clients. You are very well spoken. The filming was very professional. Everything about this video was just extremely well-thought-out. Thank you thank you thank you. I hope you and David are both feeling better.

Wow! I did not know you were the Director of the eighth largest travel agency on the East Coast! And a compliment coming from you about that is just bringing the biggest smile to my face!😄 I’m so glad that this video seem professional and informative and will help other people are getting ready to travel internationally! Although travel is fun and adventurous, we still have to take precautions when we are another countries and make sure that we are following the rules and keeping ourselves and everybody else safe. Thank you so much for your feedback. Truly truly appreciated.!❤️🙏❤️

This was a fantastic check list for both experienced and new travelers. I used to travel internationally much more than in recent years and things are always changing, so this is a great refresher. It always amazed me how few fellow US travelers were informed about the importance of travel health insurance. Thankfully I never had to use it, but having it brought great peace of mind especially since I typically traveled alone. You are helping reawakens my wanderlust after a long hybridization.

IMO, your best video yet. Oftentimes experience is the best teacher. While I always register with STEP when we travel internationally, my husband always teases me about being 'paranoid' while I like to say I'm just prepared. After watching this, I replayed your experience from China to Hong Kong. Having visited China twice ourselves, his face when you said they took your passport and then took you into another room...I think he gets it now. Great trips for people traveling internationally - superb video!

Thank you so much🙏😊❤️ I often question whether I should take the time in videos and relay my stories but a lot of what I know is coming from experience of traveling for 40 years. And of course I don’t know everything but if I can help someone out of an uneasy situation by just one story, I am happy to tell it.🙏😊 I hope you get to traveling more and making some great new memories and keep enrolling in that step program! 🙏😊❤️

An added precaution is to get a doctor letter showing your prescribed medication is for personal use. I’ve only had to show mine once but it makes travelling with medication much easier. Also check you have a letter of waiver for using medical items (CPAP) on a plane.

Thank you so much, Carole! I grew up in the Midwest with everybody, pronouncing my name, the same way as your dad‘s cousin ! I have a little catchphrase that I tell people when they meet me is it my name is “you niece” not “you nephew”🤣😂 I also tell them I was named after Nice France, because my dad’s family is from France and Germany. Great tips! Thanks for the reminder that I should re-enrol in the STEP program. I still get advisories for some countries, but I need to update with our current travel plans. On my travels in France last year in June, I fell and banged my kneecap on a street paver (the walking surface was uneven, there was a stantion involved--it was ugly!). That evening, I finally went to the ER in Strasbourg--I couldn't even bend my knee to get into the car and had to sit sideways on the back seat. I just got the bill for the ER visit x-rays (they gave me photos to add to my vacation collection), and a leg brace--148 Euros.

Two things I did are 1) label the outside of the passport with each of our names (for easy retrieval) & 2) add a paperclip bookmark set to my picture-page(makes it super easy to flip to that page). (I do remove the paperclip when I hand it to them… else they hand it back to you :). Finally, I try to carry a thin neck wallet (seatosummit, or maxpedition) for airport traversing & to leave it at the hotel (or wherever).

This is very valuable information Eunice, thank you for sharing. I cannot sufficiently emphasize the need to renew documents EARLIER than you think you need to, and to carefully research customary formal and informal border procedures (including knowing when and where it is customary to offer a bribe, or "service charge", for visas to be accepted (others who have travelled to Vietnam might have encountered this!) Also, be very aware of international events that could affect normal travel. A good example of that is the "Two Michael's", random Canadian citizens who happened to be in China when the US government pressured the Canadian government to arrest a Chinese business woman in fraud charges. They were detained in horrific conditions for nearly 3 years on trumped up spying charges and only released when the Chinese business woman was released, in what was obviously a quid pro quo agreement. Your travel binder is a great idea, I had not thought of that and I am often searching for necessary documents in the rubbish tip I laughingly call a house! An addendum to your note about CBD oil: even if it is legal where you live, and legal in the country you are going to, it can still be illegal to bring it across the border. Pot is legal in Canada, and legal in Michigan, but every day people are arrested for driving across the border between the two with it. How are you and David doing? I keep you both in my prayers.

I have a multi-pocket pouch I wear around my neck to 23:12 carry my passport, phone, a little money, etc. After my husband was robbed at the Rome train station about ten years ago, he does the same. We often wear an over shirt and can swing them inside of them to keep from being pickpocketed. Our hands are free and our most important papers are always with us. I email copies of my passports and all other important travel papers to myself. I also download them to my phone and 23:12 IPad on Google Drive in case I don’t have internet. Having been robbed, we now split cash and credit cards between our neck pouch and waist pouch. Truthfully,I had warned my husband not to carry his wallet in his pants and he said that he had traveled in Italy before and the zipper on his pants would keep his wallet secure. WRONG.

Thank you so much for sharing that story with us! I’m so sorry that those things happened to you on your trip to Italy. I called the passport agency, and was told to wait until 14 days before my trip, to call for an appointment. So, I have to wait. 😱 I called for a 2nd opinion and he said the same thing. Yes, it's tricky even without children, so something to keep in mind! I live in very close proximity to the Canadian border (I've walked on occasion), so I've crossed countless times. They did always ask for identification, at all of the bridges (there are a few nearby into Canada). It used to be any state ID or driver's license. Now it's an enhanced license or passport only, I believe. Excellent video with a ton of useful information. I'm not in the US but anything relevant to US citizens can be translated to the equivalent procedures here. Checking the passport expiry date and having enough time to get it replaced is particular good advice as I suspect many people are unaware of this. Interesting fact - UK travellers going to the US don't need any time on the passport after they come home, as long as the passport is within the expiry date for the time we're in the US. I would expect that would also be the case for US people travelling here, but would need to double check that.
@TheoryofSimple

Thank you so much , Zoe! Yes, for a different countries there might be different Passport requirements. I think the US in the UK have such a close relationship but these dates don’t really matter on the passport, but I do know that for most countries they do have six-month rule, and it might be that if you’re from another country, it may be required to have even more but I’m not sure, most of them are six months but some are three months. Also, if you’re going to need a visa, you have to add on extra time to your passport because you’ll have to send your passport in to get a visa like the one from India or China and those take a couple of weeks as well.🙏😊❤️

Yes, very good point! As a matter fact, anytime someone has your child, they should have a letter with you authorizing medical attention, at least. I learned that the hard way to.. I left my children with my parents so that I could take a trip, and my youngest son, who is allergic to bees, got stung by a bee, and when they went to the hospital, they were not going to treat him and they had to call me from the hospital to get permission. Also, some border crossings will not allow you to cross with children that are not your own so even if your name is different than your children’s name, you may have to have something proving that they are your children.. usually I would bring a copy of a birth certificate. That way your name, and your child’s name would be on it.😊❤️🙏

Hi Maricor, yes, US passport holders need a visa to enter India. You can get an E-visa which is good if you’re only going there one time. But if you’re going to be making multiple trips to India, you should get one that is longer. (10 year multiple entry) you could also get a business visa which is a little bit different because it allow you to stay for a different amount of time depending on your job . Also, if you have been in the US military, you are not eligible for a 10 year visa. If you are a US citizen, but held and Indian passport at some point then you are eligible to get a different type of visa, which let you come and go in and out of India, and stay longer for the rest of your life.
