Just how much Japanese street food in Asakusa can you enjoy with 1000yen? $10 USD?
More Japanese Street Food Videos:
▶︎ • ➱ JAPAN FOOD GUIDE
A lot of people have this impression that Tokyo is really expensive, however a cheap and fun way to enjoy different types of Japanese food is by buying Japanese street food!!! :D
A place that offers a lot of Japanese street food stalls is in Asakusa, Tokyo. If you are visiting Tokyo then Asakusa is most likely going to be a the top of your list and here are some of the street food shops I recommend trying out at Asakusa.
Nakamise dori street (Main shopping street in Asakusa)
Asakusa Kokonoe
(Agemanju, deep fried monja ¥170 and sakura bun ¥200)
Denpoin dori street
Asakusa Menchi ¥200
(Menchi katsu, deep fried minced meat)
Asakusa Kaede Wagashi
(Dango, Japanese sweet dumplings)
Chocolate sprinkle dango ¥200
Mitarshi sweet soy sauce glaze ¥130
Shin-Nakamise dori street
Sekine Nikuman ¥260
(Nikuman, steamed meat bun)
Asakusa Kurikoan
(Taiyaki, green tea macha filled taiyaki ¥176)
Apart from the Japanese street food and shopping in Asakusa there are many other things to see and do:
Kaminarimon (Kaminari Gate)
Sensoji Temple
Asakusa Shrine
Dempoin Temple
Kappabashi Shopping Street
Rox Department Store
Asakusa Culture Tourist Information Center
Sumida River Cruise
Hanayashiki Amusement Park
Asahi Beer Tower
Taikokan (Drum Museum)
Woooahhh, that was a lot of information. If you read this far let me know in the comments whether you prefer the vlogging style(me holding the camera myself) or when I get someone to take it for me.
New video will be coming next week so don't forget to click the notifications alert! See you soon!

It's a crime she doesn't have more subscribers and views. Out of all the J-vloggers, she gives the best information on many things Japanese, the food, the culture, the out of the way spots to visit, all professionally done and fun to watch. A lot better than the typical J-vlogger videos of people doing the same things over and over, putting makeup on, going to maid cafe's, etc. etc. Plus she's quite beautiful too.

mental note, if i ever visit Japan. I can just binge on local street food. I love the restaurants you film but filming in cities like this and showing the tradition of local Japan is what makes me keep watching. As for the video, I like both styles. Having someone film you gives you more freedom to do active shoots and the vlog style allows you to be more intimate with your audience. Keep up the great work, I cant wait to see more.

I love the local areas and that's what I try to show more of :) even in the touristy areas like this one, if you go a little bit off the normal path you will find local places! Thanks for watching, will try to incorporate both the styles!

My husband and I are in Tokyo for the first time on our honeymoon and we went to Asakusa today--and we specifically tracked down Asakusa Kokonoe because of your video! The same lady helped us and we had monja flavor. SO GOOD. Thank you for making and sharing these videos!

I like both. When you're being filmed the camera is more stable, documentary, pro style. When you're holding the camera yourself it's more shakey and casual style. Both mixed together is good.

I have been researching places to go on my visit to Japan in Oct. I am so tired of people making vids about themselves and using the topic to draw people into watching their vid. Your vids are by far the MOST informative and FUN to watch because you do not wonder away to your own agenda but stay focused on the topic. Keep up the great work! Thanks so much!!

I had watched this vlog to prepare for my Tokyo trip last month and it was a great success. I came to the same dango shop you advised and the treats there was soooo good. I also watched your vlogs for other places in Tokyo like Shibuya, Harajuku,... Your advices were really on point. You are a talented vloger. I love the vibe you're bringing to the audiences. I can't thank you enough for these amazingly helpful videos. Thank you, Angie. We need more videos from you.

Thank you, thank you for your videos. My husband and I just got home from our 5 day trip in Japan. Spent 3 days in Tokyo and 2 days in Nagano. Your videos had been so helpful in planning our daily activities in Tokyo. I love Asakusa and the view of Sky Tree. We also went to Zojoji Shrine and Tokyo Tower. We saw and experienced a lot in such little time. Much Mahalo from your friends in Maui, Hawai'i.

I have watched more than a dozen of your videos and I think having someone take the video for you gives a more professional feel to the overall production. I love the fact that you interact very well with the camera and it makes us feel we are actually there ourselves. It is easier and more natural to look into another person's video camera. Besides, you really cannot be yourself if one hand is holding the camera at a fixed length. We have great food in Malaysia as well. Great work from you. Japan has changed so much recently, I will be visiting in Sept 2017

It's funny how Tokyo has a reputation for being super-expensive. Sure, there are very expensive meals and what-not there, but if you eat and shop like a local, it doesn't have to be too pricey. Each of those street foods would've been 2-6x more expensive here in Seattle.

And the quality of the cheap food in Tokyo seems to be far better than the cheap food here in America. You'd not want to eat any hot food from a convenience store from here, that's for sure.
@internationallyME
@internationallyME 7 жыл бұрын
That's really true!! I think it's because in Japan especially in Tokyo there are so many businesses so there's lots of competition meaning that only the good quality will get you far!

Speaking of taiyaki, we have a taiyaki food truck here in Seattle called Bean Fish. It's really great, but the prices are far higher, the cheapest one being $2.74 US, and the most expensive being $7.30, though the most expensive ones are the ones with savory fillings, so they have some type of meat in them. They just introduced a matcha one, though, so I'll have to try it soon. That'll have to tide me over until I can get to Tokyo next year some time.

at ala moana mall in honolulu, shirokiya has a japan street food court area and theres a booth that sells it, on the wall they have the picture of the fish, and its only $1.50, but what you get is a tiny piece thats about 2 inches long and a half inch wide, no resemblance of a fish. what a rip off. now i get the packaged round ones that don quixote sells.

I am seeing a difference in your films since you went to your workshop.(to be honest, I felt your videos were always perfect). the difference now is that everything is tighter. you do this without making the video feel rushed in any way, which shows you are very talented! I do hope you will always have a friend film you, it allows you more freedom of movement, as well as not having to be alone (life is always better with a friend around!) all I can say now is this : you are very lucky to live where you do, it is truly a paradise of food and culture! We, in turn, are lucky because we get to share in your adventures! Thank you!!

internationally ME I couldn't think of a better word, when you transition shot or cutaway, (it was never a problem in your older videos) but they have improved! everything about the camera shots are amazing! I feel I am seeing a video made by a network crew for TV or movie. at first I did think maybe a professional crew was following you!! your editing is always tops, which is why I didn't mention it before, but you have tweaked that as well! your attention to detail, along with your love of topic makes it very easy to understand why you tube would single you out. this is definitely your calling!!

Eating the street food looks like so much fun ! Thanks for the informative graphics showing the locations as well ! Cute outfit too, it looks nice and warm !! Personally I don't like vlog style because it is sometimes hard to see the actual location, all you can see is the presenter bouncing around. Also often times the focus is messed up. Of course maybe it is hard to always have someone help you film, but you can probably then mix vlog style with regular shots. Honestly I hate those youtube channels where the person just walks around for 20 minutes blabbing on vlog style about whatever comes into their head and hardly edits it at all.

Thanks so much for this fantastic video! I recently went to Japan and used a lot of your tips from your other videos as well. For my visit to Senso-ji Temple I wrote notes and followed your street food tour. It was SO much fun, I loved all of the food items, and trying so many things. It was helpful to have a plan, not be overwhelmed with all of the choices, and know I wasn't missing something really really good. I loved trying things that I might have missed otherwise and it was so fun trying new food I've never had before. It was also nice knowing how much I was spending--$10 was such a good bargain. The map was super helpful! All of the street signs in this area are in Japanese, so after you find the first vendor you can find the next ones based on the map in this video. The steam bun place is on Shin Nakamise Dori (the same street as Kurikon --the taiyaki place), if you're facing the temple, turn left on Shin Nakamise Dori and Sekine will be down the street and on the left. Thanks again for this great at video!!! :)

I lived in Asakusa for a week and a half. I went to eat food every day like hibi dango and was in heaven. I lived in Japan 27 years ago and coming home again made me realize how astounding Japanese food is.

I prefer it if your friend holds the camera since it's more steady. I can also get a better look at you. I think your eyes are really pretty. I like your fashion also.

Fantastic job. You show the map, the store front to make it easy to identify since Kanji is difficult for me, and the food itself with the cost. What more can I ask. Keep up the good work!

I stayed in Asakusa in july 2015 for 2 weeks at the Mystays hotel and it was great. The location is great for tourists, easy access, great bars and restaurants near by. Definitely recommand Asakusa for first time visiters.

I love, love, love your videos Angela, and the outtakes, at the end, are always hilarious. I have a question for you, I've noticed that, in the shop where you bought the hot meat bun, you didn't take the change, but you've left it to the lady. I thought that leaving tips, it's a no no in Japan. Why did you leave the change, to the lady? Thank you. Arigatou gozaimasu 😀
