Thank you for this great video. I lived in Tokyo from 1989-2000 and Okutama was my favorite getaway. I used to go there every chance I got. Among my favorite activities were camping in Hatonosu Keikoku and climbing Kumotoriyama.

A couple weeks ago, I went to Japan; Okutama was the first place I went to straight after touching down in Tokyo's Haneda airport. After watching your amazing videos, we wanted to go to Lake Okutama to witness its beauty for ourselves. We didn't know you could took a bus there, so we instead took an old mountain trail to get there (from Okutama station); the walk took us more than 4 hours, but the views along the way were amazing~ (would have definitely been way more spectacular during autumn)

I gave some tips in my Q&A video so check that out :) It's hard to start something but if you put in a little bit of effort each day, over time you will see a big difference. If your starting from scratch then try learning the basics like hiragana, katakana and some basic phrases. If you already have the fundamental knowledge and want to become able to speak Japanese more fluently then watch Japanese shows/dramas/news etc and try get use to listening to native Japanese speak. Then copy what they say and learn the useful phrases and practice your Japanese with the native speakers! Hard to explain everything fully but just do a little bit each day!!

Thanks so much for making these videos. They are my favourite KZbin vids and I love seeing all the obscure but beautiful places you go to, and feel like I am tasting a slice of Japan while watching. Most of all it's great to see your positivity shine through so that it is an uplifting experience also, and I look forward to seeing the next ones posted!

Hi Angela, me and my friends just visited Okutama as a day trip. And we followed your itinerary to the tee and it was PERFECT! Your recommendations, the way you planned the itinerary (avoiding the crowd at the onsen), the lunch place and everything was spot on! We wouldn't have enjoyed ourselves as much if not for your awesome video. Now when I watch your video again, I can see the intent behind it and it evokes great memories. Thanks for being so generous to share these hidden gems of Japan, the real Japan😄

Gotta go here when I get to Tokyo! Sooo excited. I have the entire month of April to see my daughter and get around as best I can with the little bit of Japanese that I taught myself and what my daughter has taught. She lives in Aomori City so she will come down and meet me for a 9 day trip in and around Tokyo and much of Kansai until my little 10 day excursion through Central Japan on one of the tours in Shoryuden. Your videos are really helping me to decide what to see.

I liked going up Mt. Mitake, starting at Mitake station before you get to Okutama. My buddy and I got lost trying to find the shrines, but the views were great, and I plan to go back up there again. The cable car going up the mountain to the station at the peak was fun. At the top the overlook had a pretty neat view of Tokyo.

Yeah the prefecture of tokyo really is huge.. i was impressed that even the islands south, like Hachijou, belong to the prefecture of Tokyo. Damn how that knowledge is out of an anime.. again... ~.~ Have you ever been skiing around that area? Yeah floating bridges really are something. I remember crossing a wider floating bridge in a 36t vehicle which felt quite awkward as passenger. Intresting .. when you look up 'Pontonbrücke' (German for Pontoon / Floating Bridge) on wikipedia you actually get presented first with an image of the Okutama floating bridge. Really looks like a great place for hiking in summer ^^ Keep it up! Really love all the places and especially the way you present them to us. And just in case you're ever going to go skiing please make a video for that. I'd really like to see the nice places around Honshu in case i ever make it to Japan during winter season.
