It's kinda hard to enjoy life "in the moment" if that makes sense. Maybe it has to do with our society's push for constant productivity, but it feels hard to devote time to something intrinsic without trying to optimize it in some way. Watching KZbin while working on homework, turning on a podcast while doing chores, listening to music while driving to the store or to work or to anywhere really as long we're not standing still while listening to it. These days, it's like boredom and a lack of productivity have become equal, which kinda sucks. Boredom can mean a lack of something interesting to focus on, but something has twisted this to imply that non productive things (watching movies, playing games, listening to music, etc) aren't worthwhile or interesting enough to justify enjoying them in isolation. Weirdly though, we still see social interaction and relationships as worthy endeavors in themselves. We treat "spending time with friends" as productive. And now that we're all in quarantine, we all lost one of the only things we still feel is self justified and valuable without needing to be optimized: time with our friends. It stinks. But maybe Tessa's doing somethin smart here. Avoiding social media for a while might mean she has to focus on something personally productive instead of something socially productive or work related. Focusing on movies she hasn't seen could be a risk to her "productivity" in that she's using up a bunch of time on a movie she might end up hating instead of on a movie she knows she likes. At the same time, by taking this risk, she's also allowing the possibility for an incredible movie she's never seen before to enter her life. Perhaps this is the cost of non-productive personal time. It's abstract. It's not quantifiable in the way money is and it's not physical in the way friends are. It's also never certain. There's no way to tell how much "happiness" you'll be able to earn after you clock in to personal time. Still, there's always that chance you'll be rewarded with something huge that you never saw coming and almost completely missed.

I’ve really missed your vlogs, Tessa! You have a very frank way of speaking about the raw underbelly of just sort of being alive that I appreciate. As someone who sometimes feels horrible and lonely and inadequate for no reason at all, hearing you just talk about it is nice. Cathartic, in a way. Basically, I hope you upload more of these. The casualness is fun.

2 recommendations: 1) move the clothes from underneath your sink. If you get a leak your clothes will soak it up & you won't know until you are growing mildew & mold. 2) watch Mr Smith goes to Washington. One of my favorite movies. My favorite part of the movie is the hat scene. It shows how the main character is feeling at the time.

Wise, concrete, practical! I can also advise clothes under the sink, pack in waterproof bags. And it is better to purchase special furniture, narrow and high, with a large number of shelves inside. Such furniture takes up little space.

Ooh, those vacuum bags would be a great idea for anything you want to keep but need more space for, and protection from water doom. A bunch of places carry them for not too much. Like the Dollar Tree has them from time to time.

Do. It. Up! Social detox / self care combo ENGAGE!! I watched your channel many years back and was so excited to rediscover you, and the evolution you've gone through is truly inspiring. Your music is unique and personal, fun and thoughtful... And now to see this delving into self reflection and picking apart of insecurities and anxieties, we're all dealing with that on some level (especially these days) so thank you for bringing that out into the open. We all struggle to remain a "whole" person, whether in how others view us in the world or what we see of ourselves when we look in the mirror. Anyway, YOU'RE a badass, keep on keepin' on!

Tessa, just wanted to say that you being honest and open about your mental health has encouraged me SO much. I can relate to the 'full-blown-sobbing-meltdowns only to feel mentally whiplashed when I'm suddenly feeling better' it's confusing, frustrating and emotionally exhausting. I listened to your single 'Words Ain't enough' a few days ago and LOVED it, your voice is so relaxing, I refer to it as "laying on bedroom floor" music, where you can just be completely still and just enjoy it for what it is. Hopefully your internet detox will help you mentally, I know over the years I have cut back on my social media (for me that means Facebook, and only logging on if I have the social energy to carry a conversation with a friend) sometimes we have to structure our social media like we do with our face-to-face social time...you wouldn't spend ALL day/night talking to people (at least I personally wouldn't as my social battery doesn't seem to last long) so why would I log onto a social media platform when I can't give my attention or energy to texting friends? Might I suggest that if you are having issues with REALLY wanting to watch movies you've already seen...maybe save those movies for weekends as a treat type of thing? And spend the rest of the week watching films you've never seen before. Just a thought, if it feels like "cheating" you obviously don't have to do any of what I just said...you do you. In whole would love to see more "internet detox" videos, would love to see what you get up to without as many distractions from social media, and would love to hear more about honest movie reviews (never seen Gigi, and by the review...I'm not in danger of "missing out" on that one). Thanks for the video❤️

Tessa, thank You so so much, for being Truly Adorable Yourself. Sharing personal space in such humble way, seems to feed with real courage. Gives energy for understanding and climbing everyday boundaries. It paints healing pictures on wast emptiness in hearts and souls - ease moments that makes us hesitant for going on, for being true and honest. Friends and families get more understanding from us, as we feel not being alone with insecurities. Everyone can have their own complications, but nobody should feel ashamed of learning to deal with future-selfs. In this very moment we are the only future we can change for shure. We care to feel, we care to help. Finding little more of hidden kindness, have feelings instead of tumbling through chaos of emotions. Wish You strong friendships, lots of care and kindness, conditions for full and honest smiles, and as many creative treasures of Your own, as You would love to create. Have gently-happier life everyday

Back in January, I did something very similar. I took a weekend off of social media. I had such an eye-opening weekend that in the coming months I deleted my Instagram, Twitter, Reddit, and Snapchat accounts and stopped watching TV. I kept Facebook because I need to run ads for work and occasionally I watch a movie on Amazon Prime or rent one from Amazon. I also have a Kindle Paperwhite I do a lot of reading on now. If you've never done it, give it a try. At the very least, you'll see how much social media influences your everyday.

Yeah, I get this. It feels like one can’t enjoy something as it is. We’re always looking for the next thing or as someone else said on here, a way to optimize time. It’s difficult for many of us to be in the now - to just be, let go, and be in the present moment. I think it’s good practice to slow oneself down in this fast-paced world we live in from time to time - to realize experiencing life at it’s most organic is essentially valuable. One can know they are truly living if they can appreciate the means without having the endgoal at the forefront of their mind. To recognize where you are, what you’re doing, what you’re thinking, feeling, etc. without being carried away by thoughts of the future or of the past.

Hello i dont know if you ever going to read this, but i used to watch your videos more than 10 years ago, when you first created your channel, for some life reason i search your name today and im glad that you keep posting videos, please keep fighting, you are beautiful i hope you accomplish your goals. Its normal to be insecure, i was too, but now i dont care what people think about me, good o bad, probably its a bad choice, but it was the only way for me. I hope you have a nice week

You are the only "youtuber" I have bookmarks saved of unlisted videos for when I'm sad. I love the candid, just-doin-stuff videos. Please continue to post more!

Love seeing this human side of Tessa the Artist...I would like to see more day to day vlogs. And Tessa, you're incredibly cool and talented. If you ever feel anything less, just look to your fans and they will remind you very quickly just how cool and talented you are and how much you are valued. :)

Kind of doing the spartan thing myself. Got rid of my tv and gaming system about a month ago. All I have is my phone for communication and a couple hours a day of KZbin. Trying to re-find my inner peace with myself, which I hope leads to better relationships with others....it’s been a fun struggle so far.

Hahaha, when I was a kid I thought Gigi was a GREAT movie, but I had ABSOLUTELY no idea what was really going on.

Love the crazy. Its like echoes from my own mind. Also, Casablanca, awesome classic, I think its the film most quotable.

Yay for doing experiments for self care! Reducing screen use for sleep hygiene is on my agenda this week, so following a series of your journey would be helpful and interesting and make me feel like I'm in good company when the only way I can communicate with my friends is through the damn screens

This video made me think that maybe I should also do a social media detox. My mental health is really suffering from the quarantine and I think I need to make some serious changes in my day-to-day life if I wanna continue being healthy.. Anyway please continue these videos, I'd be really interested to see your experience with the social media detox.
