As an INFP, i wouldn't say i don't care about the other people who have to wait, or even that i don't care if i have to wait; oftentines, i want it to be over with too. I think the difference lies in vision. I know that we could do a half-hearted job and it would be passable, but i can also see how great it can be if you take the time to do it right. It may be frustrating, but i feel the outcome rewards the hard work. Except when it doesn't.

But we are just being responsible in doing a good job with an awesome outcome. I feel like people really just see the little negative things about us , about our ways and processes without imagining the outcomes that come out of it and we are very unappreciated, sadly. That’s the reality we INFPs go through but I guess why does it matter. At least we are doing our job to the fullest 😌

INFP here: I do amateur improv and have a side career of being an indie comic book scriptwriter. It's really rewarding to do in regard to my personal ideals, and the praise that I tend to get is super gratifying and makes up a large fraction of the ammo my Te uses when I doubt my self-worth or talent. It's unintuitive to get off my castle in the sky and be practical while compromising on my vision when it's objectively best to do so (like in the give-and-take of improv) and when I kept on running improvements by the artist, surrounding the first book I've worked on so far, due to my perfectionism about it being "just right." But I find that with age, experience, and constructive criticism I gradually become better at balancing it.

My best friend is an INFP and I totally see that “I will take my sweet time and not care what others think” in her, although she’s very socially anxious as well so sometimes those things rub up against each other. From my experience they can get very carried away with their values and be somewhat unrealistic or bad at thinking things through. For example, my INFP really wanted to go to a protest and me and our other friend, an INFJ, knew it would be a bad idea and could go very wrong, and we had to do our best to sort of drag her back down to reality. It’s totally fine that she wants to help and be involved in these moral issues she’s so passionate about, in fact I love that about her, but at the same time she doesn’t always think things through and only goes “oh, I know I’ll do the right thing, so it’ll be good”.

As an infp, I find the joy in the process of creating, that's what's exciting to me and I get fired by shifting prospects of whatever is final creation/work etc. Seeking perfection is more about shifting perspectives and extending the process and state of being inspired. Once it's done it's not part of me anymore, it's mine again only when I reignite mental and emotional memory of the process in my mind. Talking about poetry or doing a painting... The final work is valuable to me only if I can connect to the process (feelings, toughts etc) of its creation. I can imagine that is not very inclusive and from outside it may look as wasteful perfectionism...

What's exhausting is the constant internal pressure of living up to our own standards and feeling like every day we find ourselves unable to make our dreams reality, we die a little more. The combination of secondary Ne and inferior Te straight up sucks sometimes. So many ideas and no way to execute them all! as an INTJ, some of my closest friends are INFP’s. Here are some things I have noticed: they’re needy, sensitive and in constant need of reassurance and validation. 50% of the INFP’s i know (3/6) strongly claim they care about others more than themselves. They are moody and emotional, deep thinkers that can oftentimes overthink things or take things the wrong way. I’ve also found that once they truly open up to you, they are like a fountain that does not stop talking and I struggle to get a word in which can be nice at times when I don’t know how to continue the conversation but can also become frustrating when I have an important point I want to make. They jump around from topic to topic. Overall they’re creative, emotional, and genuinely concerned with others. Feel free to reply with your observations about the INFP, I’m trying to make portfolios of each type and would love more indicators of an INFP so I can type people more easily.

You've nailed it pretty well. If I may add, the healthy ones are genuinely empathetic and share their gifts through their actions and contributions while the unhealthy ones can develop a strong superiority complex about their ethics and not be able to get out of their own heads and emotions. As a 26-year-old with chronic mental health problems since about the age of 11, I find that it's at least moderately possible to control the unhealthy traits associated with shadow functions through self-awareness and the cultivation and embracement of healthy traits through building one's own niche in the world - and showing an active interest in the world outside of your head through active participation. Though I don't know how universal that is. I don't know a lot of confirmed INFPs, let alone ones who have sort of made peace with unfortunate situations that can be improved but not completely escaped from. And at least half of the members of r/INFP remind me too much of my teenaged self for my comfort.

If you’ve read some basic descriptions about mbti types, then u can go for studying cognitive functions so that u can relate the basic information you have about types to cognitive functions to get them better. Here’s where I got started: www.psychologyjunkie.com/2018/02/23/introduction-cognitive-functions-myers-briggs-theory/ But this is just the mbti side of it. The enneagram can also be very helpful as it explains the inner conflicts of each type such as their basic fears (mbti and functions are more about how one perceives the world rather than inner drives and fears) INFPs are most related to enneagram type 4 and 9. I myself got familiar with these types on www.enneagraminstitute.com/ I hope it’s helpful. Btw I’m an INFP and enneagram type 4w5

I think this idea of all INFPs being some sort of troubled artist is pretty overdone and tired. There are so many INFPs that do not use their values to create art or anything like that but use their Fi and Ne to be some of the most empathetic people out there and seek help people in an intimate manner in a way that aligns with their values. Maybe it’s because many S, T, J types, and most personalities let’s be honest, don’t really find value in the traits of the INFP and dismiss them as angsty cry babies. Sure, immature and unhealthy ones can be, which tend to be the most vocal, but many healthy INFPs use their deep rooted emotions and empathy to excel in careers that involve a cause that aligns to their values. When an INFP finds something they align with, they will work hard for that, even if it’s in ways that XSXJ types or XXTJ types think doesn’t make sense or in inefficient. Common careers for them can be working in social work, school counseling, especially the more one on one stuff, school advisors, psychologists and therapists. All careers that are not just the troubled artist that use their Fi to advise and help other people in an intimate way. That’s what I think the best way to describe and INFP. Someone who’s willing to help a cause they align with no matter what in an intimate, if not small scale way. A “one person at a time makes a difference” kind of approach.

I'm a teenager ISTP I've experienced both jobs and I love it equally ... carpenters are heavier physically and lighter in mind ... on the other hand electricians use less physics and use more minds ... carpenter more team work while electricians are more individual at working with problem solving .... carpenters are less risky while electricians are high risk and challenging so can you please advise me which path should I take to make a living ... handyman wood or electrician

I love the authenticity, humor and creativity of INFP, one of my best friends is INFP, but I'd rather not work or live with them: the moralistic side of how things should be annoys me because they are basing their views and decisions on subjective, often idealistic criteria, and it's the stubborn kind that backfires. INTP is a super chill type (mostly) I love them; we can talk about lots of weird things, and they are mostly always down to new adventures, but without getting stressed over a tiny detail not going according to plan like me (intj-t), so that makes me kinda chill out too. But yeah, world of warcraft lol. And the less mature ones nitpick at people publicly on the internet, which I'll never understand. However, my experience both as friends and working with INTPs has been good
@marnina13-y7c4 жыл бұрын
@Delta 38 yeah, nitpicking is a very INTP thing, but the more mature ones usually do so in the right time and place, and when it has a purpose

Idk, I love wormholes and digging deeper into topics... I am an infp and I love listening to intelligent people so I can learn and grow and fill my soul with knowledge that will pay off in my art. Sadly I hardly meet people meeting my intelligence. Also I was married to a person thinking u have to explain everything the hardest way to explain. I rationalized his 5 to 10 minutes of explaining in one sentence. It's boring and a waste of time to just try to show off how smart u r instead of acknowledging that ur partner is smart enough to understand what u wanna say. If not, I ask. I was annoyed and bored because he just did it to show off and not to answer my question. And he did it all the time. If someone just wants to explain something because they love it and enjoy it I listen gladly and think it's nice.

As ENTP I can relate with what you said about the INTP. My advice to INTPs and fellow ENTPs would be to just do it, whenever I finally decide to do what I need to do I am always surprised because it was way easier than what I made it out to be in my head. For example, I never in my life studied for exams, the most I studied for anything was two hours in total, but still i would pass every exam. If I managed to fail at something, it was because I did non of the homework and projects. Homework, and projects of any type would be my kryptonite, and since I still managed to pass without doing them I just did not care. If I had a course that had a project instead of an exam, I would do it at the last moment. But then I was about to graduate from college, which I was still winging it and I had to get some professional experience. That is when realized that there are no exams in real life. The education system sucks because they teach you to pass exams, and have theoretical knowledge but in real life everything is practical. So I was terrified, i thought that I finally had to do something and couldn't go on in life just passing exams and doing whatever the hell I wanted. I finally decided to stop overthinking and just do it, and it came natural. Again my head made everything worse than what it actually was. You know what is funny, I found so much enjoyment in work, because I found so many ways to be creative, to find areas to improve, I learned so much from it, I met new people that had the same interests as me. If it were to me I would have lived in my head just researching non stop and talking to people about what I have learned, but I would have been so much less than what I am today, and more importantly I would have been miserable, without any opportunity to grow and see the fruit of my knowledge. What is the point of knowing so much if you make nothing out of it? So I would say just do it, it is never as difficult as your head makes it out to be.

Valentina D my ISTP programmer ran the stats based of the 512 set of personality types with two operators performing the test. Also I don’t always mention it, I think you’re the only one I’ve said that to.
@valentinad91674 жыл бұрын
LiJo might be, you said it in comments of previous video. but can statistics be run on individual? lets say we have complete anonymus with unknown type chance of him pulling one personality type of OP system is 1/512. if youre not your type, then 511 possibilites are left which brings us to 1/511. its kinda hard to tell bc system is deterministic, you cant be more personalities at once, so preforming statistic on indiviual like this is.. quite out of balance.

A correction: INTPs always share their ideas. It's just that nobody cares about them and takes them seriously, so eventually we give up trying. I always try to give advice about things that I have researched and investigated. I put thousands of hours to research topics that I care about. We easily admit we don't know things that we don't and we ask a lot of questions if that is the case. If we start talking about something, then it means we know our shit. But it doesn't matter, because nobody wants to take an INTP's advice, so that's also why we end up without friends, because we don't want to feel like a burden anymore. And if you consider all this research and investigation, laziness, then you can truly understand why we end up not wanting to have anything to do with anyone and usually end up without friends. As a matter of fact, it hurts us being alone and having all this knowledge that nobody cares about.

Although I'm tested INTP, because most test question deals with empathy and Fe more than Fi, but knowing I have a great sense of self than the tribe, and my Ni, Ne and Si are just as strong, if not stronger than my Ti, it makes me even less likely to do anything.
