This is honestly meant for people who know how to code or are good problem solvers and persistent at their work. I see so many people saying i cant even build a basic app, but im over here building a full on game engine with actual good code architecture and good gode quality using cursor now i will admit it took so directing the ai and i did already know how to structure a game engine but i let ai do most of the work and i give ot like a 8/10

Actually, Copilot is much less comprehensive compared to Cursor. Copilot is an extension, while Cursor is an IDE which means that the integration between the AI capabilities and the editor are far more seamless and go beyond what an extension like Copilot can provide. The agentic approach (in the Composer) can take context from multiple folders, files, docs, etc,. can generate multiple files and then test check if they have errors and then fix the errors. Cursor is also integrated with the terminal, so you can also generate commands. Cursor can also generate commit messages based on the actual changes that you've made. Copilot can't do that and these features really improve productivity.

I hate to break it to you, but if an AI ever ingests any of your code into it's prompt, even in context, OpenAI technically has access to it, thats simply the nature of how it works, like signing up to a website absolutely requires you to hand over your email. Any assurances from them to not use it would just be assurances, but its like leaving the bank vault open and trusting people not to take from it while you turn your back.

I think the real lesson is that VS Code had all kinds of intricate plans of the features they were rolling out and then AI came along and they sort of accommodated it but didn't change much what they were doing. So cursor comes along and now finally we're getting some obvious low-hanging fruit improvements in VS Code like AI generated commit messages. This seemed so obvious to me. I just can't believe it's taken them two years to figure this out. But I'm sure not even cursor is super great either. I mean the first thing I thought of that I would want to do is select a range of code and press a hot key and use my voice to tell it to refactor it a certain way. Is that possible? It feels like it wouldn't be possible. Does cursor provide APIs to hook into its features?
@xX_dash_Xx22 күн бұрын
Idk if you can use voice, but I suggest u download it. You can query any/all code and ask it to make changes

@@InternetMadeCoder Don't, I've tried both and the pricing model of windsurf is anxiety inducing. You get 500 prompts a month and when you reach 100 prompts, they keep showing this ad-like orange banner that states "You're running out of credits and need to top-up"... Cursor just places you into a slower, non-premium queue while retaining your access to the premium models when you run out of their credits. If i'm putting my money where my mouth is, Even with the "Early adopter" pricing model of only $10 a month, I'd still double that p/m for cursor and the teams respect for the end user.
@daniels098719 күн бұрын
Cursor has a lot more control over the contexts, which is something that you can view as a pro or a con. After testing both for a while I found Windsurf to be more user friendly and has a better UX while Cursor has more power features that I really like. So I went with Cursor.
