Interpol - Rest My Chemistry (Guitar Cover)

This is my guitar cover of Interpol's song "Rest My Chemistry". I used my Fender Classic Player Jazzmaster that is fitted with Kinman Surfmaster Jazzmaster Pickups.

Thank you! However, I am not certain I know what you mean by equalization? This song was recorded straight from my amplifier into Pro-Tools with no additional EQ on the signal outside of my guitar to amp signal chain.

What effects do you use? My strat always sounds heavy and my high notes sound too distorted. My amp is a fender deluxe and my strat is an HSH Mexican strat.

Here is my signal chain: Fender Jazzmaster- Carl Martin Andy Timmons Compressor- Visual Sounds Open Road OD- Strymon Bluesky Reverb- Voodoo Lab Giggidy- Axe-FX Standard (Mesa Clean Amp Patch)- ProTools So, I think your first problem that you're running into is your HSH strat. This song sounds best on a single coil bridge pickup rather than a Humbucker pickup. A humbucker pickup is going to be naturally higher output as well as sound thicker than a single coil pickup. This is likely why your high notes sound heavy and distorted. However, the Fender Deluxe is going to nail the tone you'll need, but I think what you're lacking is a single coil pickup accompanied by light overdrive (just on the verge of breakup) from the Deluxe as well as a good mix of reverb to give the sound that nice top end shimmer. I hope this helps!

In my opinion, they sound almost identical to the stock pickups the guitar had. Just smoother and less shrill and ice picky. And of course no 60 cycle hum.
